The Nest Thermostat E is a smart thermostat that turns itself down when you’re away. It helps you save energy and keep your home comfortable. You can control it from anywhere with the Nest app, and it works with Alexa and Google Assistant so you can adjust the temperature with your voice. Nest Temperature Sensor communicates the temperature to the Nest Thermostat E. You can put different Nest sensors in different rooms, then use the Nest app to choose the exact temperature you want the room to be, along with a time of day. And it’s simple to install yourself – just hang it on the wall or place it on a shelf. [1] Remote control and mobile notifications require working internet and Wi-Fi. [2] Energy savings are not guaranteed and depend on energy usage, weather, and other factors. [3] Independent studies showed that Nest thermostats saved people an average of 10% to 12% on heating and 15% on cooling. Based on typical energy costs, we’ve estimated average savings of $131 to $145 a year. Individual savings are not guaranteed.

Solid product
This is my second Nest of this model, and I have found that it works perfectly. It is cheaper than the standard Nest thermostat, but it works just as well if you just need something to control with your phone. Installation is a breeze, and it functions very well.Tip: Before attaching the thermostat in the wall, charge it using a power outlet and micro-usb cord for about 20-30 minutes. Sometimes, it needs a “jump-start”, and the voltage from the thermostat wiring isn’t sufficient for that.

If you want no control over your temperature, get this!
This is the almost annoying thermostat ever. It will be going back. I just wanted a thermostat that I could set the temperature to what I want. I needed one in my new house because the thermostat was downstairs and it would get like an inferno upstairs if you set the temp higher than 66. But it depended on multiple factors so I wanted to be able to control it. This thermostat does what it wants. I canât get it to change it to my settings without it overriding it. On the setup there is no option for just manual temperature setting. You have to have a schedule. That auto schedule, even if turned off will override your settings. I deleted all the schedule after turning it off didnât work and then it just repopulated it with my settings. The gas cost keeps going up. So the repopulated schedule kept turning the heat on so the upstairs would get to 80. I then brought all the temps down hoping it wouldnât turn it on and I could turn it on when we wanted to. But then I woke up to a freezing house because it overrode what I set it to. Iâve been battling it for days and tried everything others suggested. Others on the community of the app also complained that they couldnât set the thing and leave it without it overriding it. So I guess I will be returning it after I pay another cost to have my handyman uninstall it. Find something else. Also, it requires a c wire? If you know what that is. We didnât have it so the battery wouldnât charge. I had to pull it off and charge it with one of my plugs I use to charge a power pack I have. Then it would let me see the key to setup the app. Very annoying little robot that get his own way.

Works great but hard to install
I have a very basic gas floor furnace in a small Cape Cod house we live in in the Summer. I got this so I can monitor the heat over the winter when we are not here. It is working fine so far, but I needed an electrician to install it. I recommend it if you are tech savvy and it has many great features, such as the ability to heat different rooms at different temperatures and at different times of the day (none of these are relevant to me since I have one floor furnace in the center of the house) but I really recommend professional installation to get it to work properly. I have not tried connecting it to Alexa yet. I recommend the item if you have help in getting it installed.

Great Concept
Such a help for us to move the thermostat for the old heating system away from the line of heat from the new mini-splits. Love the history and all the information that it feeds to the app (on an ipad – nice for the size of the graphs). Moving the actual thermostat would have been a bear – but the install of this in its place was easy for a handy person. Thanks to our son for telling us about it! (one month in – working great).

Already saving money
My thermostat is in the hallway. The rooms I spend the most time in got to the correct temp quickly, but the furnace kept running because of the thermostat placement. The portable sensor you can order with this will be saving me a lot of money. Thermostat learns quickly and looks great.

Not that smart….!
Nest default is 1 degree and won’t let user change temperature swing cycle! Screen reading will disappear and you will have to keep moving in order for the Main screen to appeared.T9 won’t let you change temperature swing cycle neither, it defaults to .5 degree; heat was on 5 minute and off 5 minutes when the outside was 52 degrees, it just too short of cycle, caused the system runs all the time and waste the energy!ecobee is the way to go as it allows lots of user settings. I like to set heat for 1 degree cycle; AC for .5-degree cycle.None of these 3 brands allow Fan schedule for longer than an hour! All of them let user to set Fan on minutes for every hour, but what if user like to run the fan 10 min in every 2 hours? So I suggest it should have a Fan Advance option: Begin Time, End Time, Minute ON, Minute OFF; this way I set it on throughout the entire summer, from 10pm to 7am; Fan only On 20 minutes in every 180 minutes Off.In addition, in Sleep period, allow user to set Fan Custom option, which I’ll set it to run Fan only 10 minutes in an Hour, and it runs this schedule on in Sleep mode. In the Hot summer, this setting will very helpful, it will make upstairs cooler without using much AC. The reason is downstairs at least 3 degree cooler than upstairs even with AC on. So by making Fan running from time to time, it will circulating the air between 2 floors; and also getting the outside fresh (cooler) air into the system (my house has a fresh air vent). This way the upstairs will lower at least 1 to 2 degrees with just Fan on once awhile throughout the night, which achieves the comfort level without using much AC and save energy.
