The title says most of it. Additionally, I can’t heap enough praise on the tech I spoke with before purchasing this and the Ecobee thermostat,. He had me send pictures of my current wiring configuration and then confirmed I needed this part, explained what wires needed to go where and because I only had four wires, explained the minor limitations the thermostat would have. Based on his expertise, I had complete confidence in buying from Ecobee and knew if I had issues, I could count on their technical support completely. Top notch company, top notch products, you won’t go wrong here!

Works, but had to ignore their instructions
Difficult to completely give accurate feedback because there are multiple issues and it’s not just the product, but also the process and software involved.First off, I got the thermostat which clamed to be incredibly universal, but then the software prompted me to order this additional part. Secondarily, no where did it state, “oh by the way, be prepared to take apart your furnace to install it”, when the verbiage kind of implies it’s a simple add on part assumingly at the thermostat itself.Secondary problem, as previously mentioned, you have to take apart your furnace, disconnect things from the main board, and re-hook them up using this adapter. If I redesigned this unit, I would make the connection points easier and make the cabling longer. I was at a very awkward angle trying to install this, with very little room to move both near the furnace, as well as where I had to reconnect it inside the furnace. Overall, there are ways to make this installation more customer friendly.Last but not least, I could NOT GET IT TO WORK based on the cabling diagram inside of the app following the instructions. I had to find a fix on reddit, which was a different pin-out of the cabling in order to make it work.All in all, my google nest was 100% plug and play, the app was 100% accurate from an instruction basis, and was super easy. This is the complete oposite. These units took WAY more work, had to tear apart my furnace, AND the instructions are not correct. Yes it works, but man it was ridiculous getting it to the point of working properly. The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1 is becuase i got it to work in the end through the community assistance.
