Includes post-filter feedback (PFFB), high pass and variable level aux output
I found the sound of the Douk Audio A5 stereo amplifier to be natural sounding and dynamic. Although not noted in the provided product documentation, my understanding is that the Douk Audio A5 amplifier features post filter feedback (PFFB) for improved sound. PFFB can result in an amplifier achieving overall flatter frequency response that is less affected by speaker impedance changes across the audio spectrum. The right knob is the volume control. This control doubles as the power switch. There is no power indicator LED on the front panel of the A5.There are 3 multi-segment LEDs inside the A5 amplifier. These LEDs can be configured via dip switches located inside the unit to provide Red, Green or Blue illumination (or any combination of these three colors) to the inside of the A5 amplifier. There is a clear insert in the top cover of the A5 that can be easily removed to access the dip switches and the A5’s other circuitry. There are two swappable op amps inside the A5 amplifier that can be changed if desired. On the rear of the A5 there is a 3.5mm output connection labeled Aux Out. I confirmed that the A5’s Aux Out level is variable, full frequency. (Douk Audio could have labeled the 3.5mm connection as Pre Out or Sub Out.) The Aux Out level is controlled by the volume knob setting on the A5.The left knob on the front of the A5 lets you activate and adjust the high-pass filter. When switched on, the high-pass filter can be set anywhere between 30Hz and 200Hz. (Note that there are no conventional bass or treble tone controls on the A5.) The high-pass filter only affects the speaker level outputs and has no effect on the Aux Out’s audio. Even without a subwoofer the A5’s high-pass filter can be useful if you desire to roll off the lowest bass frequencies that are sent to the speakers. The A5 comes with a Douk/Nob Sound branded power supply rated at 32 volts and 5 amps. The included A5 documentation states the A5 is capable of 300 Watts x 2 @ 4 ohms. With the stock 32V/5A power supply I estimate the A5 is able to deliver ~50 Watts per channel output @ 8 ohms. You can substitute a 48 volt, 10 amp power supply so that the A5 would be able to deliver its maximum power. The case of the A5 amplifier, when used with the stock 32 volt power supply, runs about the same temperature as the Aiyima A07 Max with that amplifier’s stock 36V/6A power supply. The A5’s case temperature reading was ~82F, in standby and 90F when in use. In comparison, the Fosi Audio TB10D amplifier’s case measured 72F, in standby and in use. [Update: I measured the standby power consumption of the A5 amplifier. Plugged in, not switched on, the power consumption measured 0.3 Watt. Powered on, no input signal, 4.7 Watts.][Update 6/17/25: I like the Douk Audio A5 amplifier enough that I just purchased a second A5 amplifier while it was on sale. The A5 is one of a collection of Class D amplifiers I keep in rotation for use with different 8 ohm, 6 ohm and 4 ohm speakers (new and vintage models). Not every amplifier pairs well with every model of loudspeaker. Sometimes it is a lack of power that prevents the amplifier from bringing out the best in the speaker. Else there are a multitude of other reasons including the amplifier having a too low damping factor, speaker impedance variations and crossover interaction. Many times new speakers need time (~40 hours or more) to break in to sound their best. Amplifiers also may need time before the power supply and filter capacitors fully form for best sound. Before swapping op amps, try swapping amplifiers. The other Class D amplifiers were each purchased on Amazon: Fosi Audio TB10D (has been compatible with every 8/6/4 ohm speaker I have tried); Aiyima A07 Max (in both stereo and mono mode, the A07 Max is small but powerful with 3dB or more headroom than the A5 or TB10D); WiiM Amp (weak WiFi performance, good sound with adequate power for most speakers and rooms, just so so soundstage and imaging) , WiiM Amp Pro (better WiFi performance, flatter frequency response, better soundstage and imaging than WiiM Amp, WiiM Vibelink Amp (the most powerful WiiM amplifier (to date), flat frequency response with good sound stage and imaging (similar to WiiM Amp Pro but with more available power, headroom.) I enjoy listening to the Douk A5 amplifier powering the Saiyin DS6700M small bookshelf speakers; a 2-Way Passive Speaker; 3.5″ Woofer & Silk Horn Tweeter that are sold on Amazon. See my separate review of the Saiyin DS6700M speakers.]

NIce quality small amp.
Got this for a very good price. It works and sounds great. I am using it with Micca MB42X G2 speakers and it has more power than I can use. Halfway up on volume is loud enough in my living room and kitchen. If I had to do it over I would look at the newer pro version of it that Douk has out. It has a couple of more controls on it. I am happy with it and have no plans to change.

The little amp that could
I never write reviews. I want to say off the bat, that for the price range? It deserves 5 stars in comparison to other products in the same price range. As a nit picky audiophile, i can’t give anything a perfect score. Some background: I have a fully tube system. Rolling tubes are addictive and they offer the sound that i love and they are easy to work on/repair. The problem with tubes, is the heat they create. As a Texan. Summers are brutal enough, as are the energy bills. I was heavily considering selling my tube system because i can not enjoy it in this heat, but i know i’d take a financial loss and regret it.Que the search for a budget amp that runs cool to enjoy during the summer months. Would it be a solution? No. Texas is hot majority of the year, so i would have a very expensive paper weight for most of the year in my tube power amp. As of now? I told myself it’s worth a try and if i want to enjoy my tube amp, i can even use the class D amp on LF which covers 400hz and down to wake up that bass with more power.I saw the Sparkos videos done by Danny Richie and NRD on YouTube long ago and finally had enough of this heat and went for it knowing i could have waited until Prime day sales. I ordered the little amp with the power supply. I also ordered Sparkos dual discrete opamps, but they are still in transit. Review is with stock opamps.Let me just say that i have only used the amp with 2 factors that aren’t available to everyone(but could be). I plug all my devices into my isolation transformer(on amps it does somewhat lose some dynamic bass, but it makes everything else have a blacker background.). I also used a voodoo cable iec adapter for C14 to C7 adapter. I originally bought it to use my own cables with either my PS5 or my TV. It’s $19 and high quality. So i used that and my Japanese litz power cable to plug the power supply into the isolation transformer. My first test was using my dac direct into the amp and using the amps volume control. Was i blown away? No. It was serviceable. I was surprised to find the device actually does get warm. The vocals felt slightly hazy? I was also surprised to find the sound was warmer side of neutral, however. I prefer that for long listening sessions. Nothing fatiguing at all and nothing that triggered my Tinnitus. I went all night with it and my dac on and i felt comfortable so the in room heat did not go up which was a big bonus and i was already sold on that for the price.Next i went amp with volume all the way up so it could act as just a pure power amp into my tube preamp. My source into my preamp. This is where i felt the little amp showed off more of what it could do. It comes as no surprise to me that the volume control would be the weakness of a cheap amp as it would be for an expensive amp. The amp felt more alive used as a power amp. Its fast, and snappy on the attack. Deep bass. While the vocals are clearer, its still the weakness of the amp. I attribute it to the weakness of the opamps. The soundstage is okay, if not another weakness. My speakers do use TAD drivers with beryllium diaphragms which are very extended and have great attack and snappiness to them, so maybe the tubes and my speakers are helping, but for me, that was the point. To have a budget amp with minimal heat, that still could sound good with the rest of my system for the summer months.Needless to say, i am impressed with the quality of this little amp enough that i’m expecting big things when i put the Sparkos discretes in the amp.If anything, this is the little amp that may have convinced me to go with a permanent solution using CLASS D with my tube preamp.I’ll update this review when i insert the Sparkos.

Douk Audio is an absolute Jewel of an Amplifier, Period. It tests with the Pros to an exceptional degree of precision. And for a fraction of the PRICE. Price point blew my mind!And..other users have reported the same opinion. Now you have to figure out how you can use this single (no bass treble highs adjustments Amp) to work in your Audio System.I use Luna DAW as my mixing board to control my audio. All computer.Audio could be from Netflix on my Desktop or output from my Universal audio Apollo twin.I put that audio into the Douk Audio and it provides strong clear impressive dynamic sound.Check it out for yourself, recommend it.

This little amp sounds very nice. It works well with my 8 ohm B&W CDM1 speakers. According to the manufacturer, it is about 65W x 2 on 8 ohm speakers and 32V/5A power supply that comes with it. If you want more power, you can upgrade the power supply to 48/10A to get to $185W per channel. For me it is more important that it has very small distortion (THD+N: 0.002%) and with 65W per channel it is more than enough for me. Highly recommended.
