Sure, they’re not Sony, but they lasted a good long time for continuous recording
I got two of these used as part of a recent used FS5m2 purchase. They were totally depleted when I got them home, but they charged just fine using the Sony and Kastar chargers.Not sure if 2 batteries would be enough for recording 8-10 hours of action sports footage with no AC power possible, I bought this as a spare, to go with the Sony BP-U30 and 2x identical Kastars.I bench tested continuous recording, and I was able to record more than two hours of continuous footage from each fully-charged battery, over two charge cycles. I didn’t test it down to the last minute in the field, I swapped the battery for a fresh one when it hit less than 25%. I recorded all the footage I had planned to getIn the field, these batteries performed remarkably well. The batteries easily lasted two hours of continuous recording each. Now, I was conserving power by turning off the viewfinder after framing my shots and starting recording, so I don’t know how long they will last while shooting with viewfinder on, will come back for that.Despite some others’ complaints, these batteries worked out for me, and for a big savings compared to the brand-name battery.

Quality battery pack
As good as an OEM Sony battery, excellent runtime with plenty of reserve power. Fits and functions exactly like a factory Sony battery. LED level indicators show approximate charge state when pressed.

Battery stopped working in the middle of a crucial shot. Not happy at all.
These batteries seemed like a great deal at first, and despite my skepticism I decided to order two of them for use with my FS7. They worked fine for a while, but both of them ended up completely dying and shutting off the power to my camera in the middle of a crucial shot. Even though the battery LED indicators said that it had 100% power, they’re now basically useless and won’t power on at all. I’ve tried power-cycling it over and over, leaving it on charge for large amounts of time, plugging it into other cameras/accessories that take the same battery, and no luck all around. Tried contacting Kastar for customer service to see if I could get a replacement shipped out, but no luck. I am willing to change this review if the company makes it right and sends me replacements. Other than that, I would say either go with name brand batteries or just bite the bullet and go with V mount.

It works well
One thing to keep in mind is that aftermarket batteries will never be superior to the original Sony brand. The battery does the job however, I feel it drains out a tad faster.

UPDATE 20170414…After a year these batteries are working flawlessly!!! Everyone writes a review when they are mad, well, I am so happy with this product! Shooting in the Rockies I for the next few weeks and I gotta say, KASTAR makes great batteries. The attached pic is after 2 1/2 days shooting. Awesome!! I find that I have gotten so spoiled with this big ole battery that I leave the camera on alot more, not having Ng to worry about battery life.So far this battery is proving to be excellent and indistinguishable from sony oem batteries in camera.

Kastar batteries are a lot better than their chargers
I am a returning customer for Kastar’s version of Sony’s U60 camcorder battery, because I am getting good performance from earlier examples from this company. Lithium-Ion chemistry is characterized by a tradeoff between power capacity and prospective charging cycles. More capacity usually means fewer recharging cycles before the battery is exhausted and must be replaced. I have U60-type batteries from Sony and other aftermarket suppliers, and the trend repeats itself reliably. The Sony have the least capacity, but take many many recharging cycles compared with Kastar, Wasabi, Watson and others that have far higher running time. If you know your equipment and its power needs, this battery offers a good tradeoff. Recommended. Kastar’s chargers, by contrast, are poorly made. The cost savings is not outweighed by reliability problems and physically “cheap” fit.
