Product Description

The Simplicity of a Soundbar, the True Sound of Stereo.
Combining the simplicity of a soundbar with the accuracy of a DSP-controlled stereo system, REN seamlessly integrates with any modern TV via HDMI ARC, delivering a home theater-like experience in one streamlined package. REN tackles the frustration of quiet dialogue and overwhelming sound effects with two sound modes that boost vocals and reduce low frequencies for nighttime viewing. When it’s time to add a subwoofer, REN automatically filters sub-bass from its 5.25” aluminum woofers, letting them focus on midrange frequencies with minimal distortion. REN offers versatility beyond the living room with Bluetooth 5.3 for smart home devices, optical for WiFi network streamers, USB-C for desktop use, and analog inputs for everything else.
What’s in the box? REN Active Speaker REN Passive Speaker Power Cord Remote Magnetic Grilles (2) Rubber Feet (8) Speaker Wire Quick Start Guide

Featuring HDMI ARC with CEC, REN offers the same kind of seamless TV integration that an AV receiver or soundbar provides. REN automatically wakes when the TV is turned on and can be controlled with the TV remote. No need for multiple remotes or bulky gear to get premium sound from your TV.

Soundbars rarely extend past your TV and rely on digital processing to simulate a wider soundstage. You can place REN as far apart as you like giving you a true wide soundstage with pinpoint precision of where the action is happening on the screen.

When a subwoofer is plugged into REN’s sub output, REN automatically sends all frequencies below 80 Hz to the sub letting the speakers focus on what they do best while reducing distortion at higher volume levels. Expand your system when you’re ready and get even better sound.

The USB charge port on the rear of REN can power a network streamer or smart home device without additional cabling. REN can be toggled to stay awake continuously for on-the-fly casting with no delays. Get the highest quality streaming experience from the devices that do it best.

PLUG ‘N PLAY
REN has nearly every connection option available from USB-C for desktop use, Bluetooth 5.3 for mobile devices, optical for digital media, to RCA and AUX for analog gear. The connectivity and versatility to work with any piece of gear, in any scenario, past, present, or future.

FULL CONTROL
REN’s remote can swap the left and right channels, disable auto power-down, dim the front LED, mute an attached sub, control USB or Bluetooth playback, and adjust tone to dial in bass and treble. Little features that make big differences in everyday usability.

Probably good bookshelf style speakers, excellent I/O
I got these speakers to replace my old Marshall Stanmores which broke down recently. I am not an audiophile, but enjoy good sound through increasing speaker variety, and like having a patchwork of speakers like a subwoofer + RCA splitter sending audio to full room speakers (this is as opposed to the approach of buying a high end all-in-one surround sound system). I also like having the convenience of Airplay without a dedicated receiver. Due to these specific conditions, I needed a speakers that could complement my subwoofers that have a large number of input sources. These speakers do the job as they come with SPDIFF, RCA, and Bluetooth, but also HDMI Arc.I have these set up behind a Hifiberry Airplay sink sending an RCA signal. The crossover functionality is perfect to have the Ren automatically send low signals to the subs. Because of sheer number of input variety, I will be able to change up how these fit into my patchwork of sound I will probably switch around in the future. Although a bit clunky, the remote control allows for this device to also replace the functionality of a full receiver (albeit only stereo, no 5.1/5.2 surround). So for the price, the Kanto Ren goes over and beyond what I want out of speakers.

Great soundbar alternative
Bought in lieu of a soundbar. Very happy with the purchase. Excellent sound quality for such a small speaker. The HDMI-ARC works well providing superior audio quality vs. fiber audio or Bluetooth audio. I paired them with a Kanto SUB8 powered subwoofer. The bass out of the speakers is pretty good I just wanted to make sure I had enough sound because the room I have this setup in is pushing the size for a small speaker system. The only drawback is this system doesnât have a phonograph interface, which can be resolved easily. And possibly doesnât have the CODECS to accommodate the higher quality Bluetooth audio.

The matte grey lookâs & sounds nice.
Iâve purchsed these to free up some space in my bedroom. I did my research & heard these. The sound quality iof the bass & highs is nice. I connected these to my Samsung tv and i add a SVS SB1000!. By adding a sub freeâs up the lowâs and you really hear the highâs on the Kantoâs. The RENâs are good for a bedroom or den. No complaints!!!

Good soeakers
Worth the only way up is their more expensive set of speakers. You do not need a sub with these unless you like really heavy bass

First Impressions
CHECK BOTTOM FOR UPDATESI purchased these to replace my Klipsch The Fives in my living room. Those always had CEC issues with powering on/off, and now that I use an Apple TV in my living room, it got annoying needing to use 3 remotes to avoid the Fives refusing to produce sound after being turned off, and needing a hard reset, when the whole point of HDMI ARC was to use a single remote.Anyways, onto the Ren. The packaging is really nice, the presentation sets a good tone off the bat. The speakers are wrapped in both a cloth and plastic covering to keep them from scratching. They weigh about the same as the Fives, maybe a tiny bit lighter. The remote is a big improvement over the YU series from Kanto, in both build and feature set.The matte gray color was lighter in person than in the photos, but it worked out for me because it actually works better in my room that way. Hooking the speakers up was simple, and the speaker wire that runs between them has plenty of length. It was noticeably longer than the cable that came with the Fives. I do wish the power cable was longer though, it was just long enough to run through my speaker stands from where my outlet is. I paired these with my 10â Klipsch sub, and they sound great. May be placebo, but the phantom center seems stronger/more clear on these, but other than that they sound similar to my Fives and how I had them EQâd. I have them about 6 feet apart on stands, toeâd in slightly towards the listening position. They have a threaded hole on the bottom to attach to stands if yours have that ability, which is nice.HDMI CEC so far has worked great. The speakers power off with my TV and Apple TV, however you will need audio to be playing for them to turn on. Just moving through the menu of your TV or streaming device will do this. I do wish it powered on immediately with the TV and Apple TV, so that by the time those are booted up, the speakers will be ready to receive sound. The speakers also donât come with the complete manual, that is posted on Kantos site with a lot of useful information on the features on the remote, like night mode and speech boost.Overall Iâm happy with them so far. They arenât perfect, but the few things I donât like are not even close to dealbreakers. They look good, sound good, and give off a quality feel in use.EDIT: Iâve started to notice split second audio drop outs/crackling sounds when watching content. This has happened over HDMI and optical, and on 2 different TVs and different HDMI cables. I never had these issues with my Fives or YU4s on either TV. Iâm in contact with Kantos support, but will likely exchange these for a new pair and hope those donât have the same issue. I would find it odd that both of my TVs just happen to not play nice with these speakers. They sound great, so hoping a second pair works better!FINAL EDIT: Iâve received the second pair, and the audio dropout issue still happens on this pair. I find it really hard to believe 2 sets of speakers would have this issue, but somehow 3 HDMI cables (including a new certified one Iâve picked up since the last pair), 2 TVs, and 2 optical cables all don’t play nice with these. My Klipsch Fives donât have any issues either. So this pair will be going back as well, as the Rens seemingly wonât get along with either TV I have. Itâs a shame because they sound and look great, but wonât be considering another set of Kanto HDMI speakers unless they are updated. My Kanto YU4s are great, so this surprises me.

Pitiful Volume
I had high hopes for these speakers after reading every review on the internet and watching every video on YT, but most were all hype. Almost all the review videos failed to show sound (of course, the sound of a speaker on a video will only be as good as the speakers you’re listening to the video on), but none bothered to mention the pitiful volume of these speakers. I have mine connected through HDMI ARC to a new LG G4 77″ TV, and the internal TV speakers get much louder and sound almost as good. Still not sure if I’ll keep them as they are really nothing special at all. Don’t believe all the hype about these….I highly recommend going someplace where you can listen to them before shelling out $600…..you could do just as well, maybe better, for $150. Caveat emptor.

When I first listened to the Kanto Renâs I was not impressed, not so much with the sound but with volume, should be a lot louder. However when I added my Martin Logan (Dynamo 700w) subwoofer the Kanto RENâs came alive the sound is amazing and loud. All the inputs work well, donât forget to set up the HDMI ARC on your TV menu.I played the movie Atomic Blond through my blue ray player and streamed movies as well, both sounded great dialog sounds like itâs coming from the center of the screen. The most impressive sound is listening to Spotify through Bluetooth and streaming YouTube video concerts(The Warning at Pol and Rock)To make a long story short, I am very happy with my purchase.

I recently upgraded my audio setup with the Kanto REN speakers in Matte Orange, paired with the SE6 speaker stands, and I couldnât be happier. The bold matte orange finish is perfect, turning these speakers into statement pieces that blend modern design with exceptional performance. The sound quality is phenomenalâcrisp highs, balanced mids, and punchy bass create an immersive experience whether Iâm listening to music, watching movies, or gaming. HDMI ARC connectivity is a game-changer, allowing seamless integration with my TV and simplifying control with a single remote. The multiple input options, including Bluetooth and RCA, offer versatility for various devices. If youâre looking for a setup thatâs as visually striking as it is sonically impressive, the Kanto REN speakers are worth every penny – highly recommended!

Night mode doesnât do anything, and vocal boost mode kills the subwoofer entirely. Customer service was no help â they didnât clarify or resolve the issue.Update: They confirmed the manual was incorrect. This product has been on the market for almost a year, so itâs hard to believe they hadnât noticed the error earlier. Since the manual is digital, it shouldnât be difficult for them to update it.Hello,To clarify, there is no firmware update that would change the behavior being experienced from the speakers. All of the REN speakers have the same behavior where Night Mode is entered by pressing the sound mode button once and Vocal Boost is entered by pressing it a second time. We are in the process of updating the manuals for the REN to reflect this. I do want to note that the Night Mode and Vocal Boost modes both work as described it is just the order that the modes are selected as described in the manual that is reversed.Warm Regards,Emily F.Final thoughts:The sound quality on the Ren is noticeably better than the Ora4 and Ora, thanks to its larger size. The sound could be a bit brighter, though. However, itâs somewhat too large for desktop use.

Speakers I received were not new. Box was previously open and product showed sings of use. Speakers did not work over ARC HDMI with my TV. There was a short burst of static and nothing was playing. Nice to have remote but no batteries for it, not acceptable at this price. ALSO YOU NEED KANTO APP INSTALLED ON YOUR SMARTPHONE (IF YOU HAVE ONE) TO USE THESE SPEAKERS OVER THE BLUETOOTH, WHY ? As I am not in the smart phone camp, that makes these speakers useless to me, my dumb phone has storage for songs and bluetooth that I use with my old bluetooth speakers.
