Not bad for the price.
I went out on a limb when I decided to purchase this player, there were no reviews or star ratings at the time, so here are my impressions of it.The first thing I noticed is the line output is variable and works with the volume control, and has much lower volume than the headphone output. My workaround is to set the boot volume to 85, remember to turn it down if you switch to earbuds. I have not been able to connect to a bluetooth device yet, that process is not intuitive, I’m probably doing something wrong. I did not find a menu item to update the files index. The only way I can find to scan for changes to either drive (SD or internal memory) is to select the one that is not currently selected, then switch back. That may not be an issue if you use it as a mass storage device when you import files.The player is well constructed and has a nice, sleek look; I am happy with the screen contrast and color options. The selector dial is too smooth though; so not always easy to turn to make a menu selection. The menu selections are responsive and button presses have a nice solid feel so you know it was pressed. As for sound quality, I compare to the first one of these I purchased (a different model), which was less expensive than this one. I think this sounds better, less harsh, with equalizer set flat, driving a pair of Grado RS2 headphones, which it has no problem with. Battery life is good, but it lives in a hot vehicle so will probably be better in cooler weather.I would say this player is a good bang for the buck overall. With only one other I can compare to, this was about $15 more so quite worth the expense. The name needs a little work though…
