Costly item but worth in the long run
I love the Cyberpower products. Have beenm purchasing this brand for over 15 years. I have verified purchase at least 21-24 1500 versions. I have only had about 3-4 fail. And maybe 2-3 die due to batteries. Got new batteries and still going today. This unit, I only got this unit after moving and being somewhat off grid at times. Turns out if you do not have a generator that is also an inverter they will not use generator power to recharge. If I had a whole house genrator this would not be a problem, I have 12k portable gen using 50amp to my fuse panel. I called Cyber Power and they explained to me how their units work. I was suggested to get their ONLINE units that have a setting to use Generator mode. This was an expensive purchase but I feel it was worth it.The unit is a little loud when it has to be battery mode, considering I would be off the power grid and generator, I am ok with this. So it sits next to my PC. I have a gaming PC and ONLY my computer is plugged intot his unit. I have 14-18 percent with aroun 59 minutes run time. I can tell you it lasted my about 45-48 minutes when I tested it. Plenmty of time for me to power up the generator. I have my 2 huge 49 inch monitors on 2 smaller 1500 ups ion their own UPS in fact and they about 85 minutes run time.At the end of the day, I made the right choice for me and it is very power to handle what I need. I am going to get one more for my main network that will be used my my 2 different internet connections, a Ubiquiti Dream Machine Enterprise router and a Ubiquiti 24 port swirch. I did test this on that setup and had around 64 minutes. Make sure you get the right unit for your needs and enviormnment. Cyberpower has done good for me.

extremely noisy. installation is a pain
this product is extremely noisy. even when it off, it charges the batery and fan makes horrible noise. this noise never goes away and there is nothing you will be able to with it. installing agent software on the computer for this product was not so easy and instructions could be much better.

Loud for residential use. This is definitely meant to be rack-mounted at a data center.
For what it is, this unit is great. It is supposed to be rack-mounted at a data center, where airflow is king and noise is no big deal. So far, I’m impressed with the unit, but it is definitely not meant for residential operation. I had a Cyberpower “line interactive” model that was far less expensive, and the first time a solid storm came along while I was using my computer – pow! there goes my PSU and who knows what else inside the PC took a hit. If you’re using a line-interactive UPS, get rid of it now. It may work fine for power sag, but it has a several-millisecond cutover time from line to battery, and that is far too long – the damage is already done. You need an “online” UPS – one that runs all of the connected equipment on battery power at all times, period. My advice to Cyberpower would be to create a residential unit that is sized to handle all the load a 15 or 20-amp circuit could throw at it, but in a form factor that is better for residential usage, and without the need for a 70CFM fan running at full blast all the time. When this thing switches to battery power, it sounds like an absolute wind tunnel when both high-static pressure fans fire up at the same time. During standard operation, there is a single 70CFM fan blowing (probably at max RPM) at all times, and in a quiet office, it is distracting. In a residential setting, the unit will be installed in a much cooler, much quieter, and much less cluttered environment. They could repackage this in a form factor that would allow a nice 140mm magnetic bearing fan that would run dead quiet most of the time. If they made a fully-online model that could handle say 1800 watts (15 amp circuit, 120 volts), or 2400 watts (20 amp circuit, 120 volts), but with no option to expand, and no rack-mount rails – well that would be the perfect home office UPS. I hope Cyberpower reads these reviews!

This is an extremely well built, high quality product
You will need to put this power supply in another room or a place where you cannot hear it because when it is running it is extremely loud. Do not buy this product if you are going to put it in the same room or close by where you are working. You need to buy long extension cords and put this product a long way away from where you are working so you don’t hear it. That being said, this is an extremely well built, very high quality piece of equipment that works exactly as advertised. My bottom line criteria for reviewing a product is how closely the product performs to its advertised specifications and this product does not disappoint.

hardware OK, software and tech support almost non-existent
On December 21 I received my OL1500RTXL2U. I plugged it in, plugged my devices in to it, and all worked as advertised. I connected to my Mac Pro via the included USB cable and began trying to install the PowerPanel control software. After a month of trying, it still does not work.December 22 I downloaded PowerPanel Business for Macintosh. The installer created a folder labeled CyberPower PowerPanel Business which contained files, but no application.I called for help. An automated system said I could remain on hold, or leave my number for a callback when a support person became available. I left my number. After several weeks my call still has not been returned.I sent an email asking how I could get the PowerPanel software for Macintosh. I received a very quick reply, which linked to the files I already had but no PowerPanel application, and standard instructions for setting the necessary security permissions. The security permissions are triggered when an application tries to run, but there was still no application, so this was no help.I replied on December 24 asking for the specific steps needed to set up the software. Now after almost a month I am still waiting for a reply.
