Worth It for the Peace of Mind
I wish I’d bought this device a long time ago. I live in an area that gets frequent power blink-outs when it’s windy, or hey, even when the weather is sunny and calm. Just a few seconds – long enough to knock a computer off. (Yes, we live in the 21st century if you can believe it, but the power companies haven’t apparently caught on to this fact.) :KSet-up is very simple: four outlets for battery backup, and four for just the surge protection. Realistically, because of the size of some plugs, you might only be able to use three on each side.Unfortunately, since I got this thing I haven’t had any power blink-outs! So I can’t for certain say it works or not for those. Maybe it’s my lucky charm? 🙂 The $85 I purchased it at is a lot of money for me, but I can say wholeheartedly that it’s been worth it just for the peace of mind. And this is no dinky piece of plastic. It’s a sturdy, hefty 14 pounds, positionable on its side, on end, or flat. It can even be mounted on a wall if you wish.It’s tough, when shopping for a UPS, to decide what kind of power you’re going to need against what your computer uses. I pretty much had to make a semi-educated guess when choosing for myself. If it helps any, for the 825VA 450W model CyberPower UPS, I got it for a computer running a 6-core processor, 650 watt power supply, mid-range graphics card, 6 fans…. I have the PC, 17-inch LED monitor and DSL modem plugged into the battery backup plugs (scanner and printer plugged into the surge protection-only ones), and with a browser open running a graphics intensive game, it says I have around 25-35 minutes of backup power. More than enough. I really only need 5 to determine whether the power is coming back on or staying off so I can shut down my computer properly.Really, if you have electronics you care about and can’t afford to have get fried or constantly knocked off by power interruptions, it seems worth it to have one of these. :)** Update: August 2013I finally lost power (yay?). Weird, I was always having minor to major power outages here before getting this… Anyway, it was only out for a minute or so, but it was a complete interruption, and this UPS kept my computer system running without a hiccup. Gave me a beeping alert that there had been an outage and the LCD screen lit up. That’s about it! Felt funny writing a review for a UPS without having seen it actually back up power, and now I’ve seen it do its job. I’d never go without one of these for my computer again!

Hardware works great, optional software not so much
About a week after I got this CyberPower CP825AVR my neighborhood blacked out from a storm. Power was out for an hour. The battery backup worked like a champ and my computer and external hard drives were the only things still on in my house. I would buy this UPS again in a heartbeat.The optional PowerPanel Personal software, however, is another story. It theoretically lets you schedule when to have your computer turn on and off. It can also notify you when power incidents occur. Turning the system off worked fine, but it would appear that my BIOS is not compatible with the software as it could not turn it back on per the schedule. However, my BIOS has its own ability to start up my computer on a schedule, and I could always just add a Windows shutdown to its Task Scheduler, so the optional software is not needed for that. And since my utility company texts me when there is a neighborhood power outage, I don’t really need that feature of the PowerPanel Personal software either. But the one thing that really pisses me off is when the UPS is connected to my computer via USB cable (for the software to work), it disables my Windows power scheme turning off my display after X minutes.In conclusion, get this UPS, but don’t download or install the optional software.

Has everything you will need – unless you need true sine wave
This is an excellent unit for the price. The only way it could be better is if it is true sine wave as opposed to the modified sine wave…but those cost more and you seem to have to give up features (like being Green). This one has hot swap batteries, surge protection, AVR, coax protection, digital readouts, and most importantly it saves power because it bypasses the inverter if it is receiving a good power signal. For me that was the most important feature. It won’t power everything because it is not true sine wave but basically anything that has a power brick or transformer should be fine. I use it to power an airport extreme, time capsule, and cable modem and it works great.

Thry do not honor warranty
Worked fine for 2 months then the ethernet cable protection system started to malfunction and seriously degrade my internet upload speed. To make matters worse cyber power tried to tell me it was normal. When I pushed back on that they inferred I was wrong (lying)and demanded more proof after I already wasted time jumping through their rma hoops. Stay away from this company. Just google them and see for yourself. They do not honor their warranty.

I have my pc, monitor and speakers hooked up to it and seems to function well. The “Power panel” that I can read from my desktop { using the cd software and usb cable supplied with the unit} tells me what volts the wall plug is providing and the “condition” of that power. It states the amount of battery capacity there is, how much load the UPS is under etc. I am only using 72 watts out of 450. The instructions say not to use more than 80% of the total wattage of the unit {which would be 360 watts}, so I am well under that.Long story short, it has a lot of options, monitors many things and seems to work well.

El primer párrafo es meramente informativo, a partir del segundo es la reseña del producto en cuestión.Primero hay que mencionar que no se debe de confundir con otros equipos para la administración del consumo de la energÃa eléctrica, tales son el Supresor de picos y el Regulador de voltaje. El UPS (No Break) comparado con estos dos, posee sus caracterÃsticas combinadas con la ventaja de tener integrada una baterÃa (pero supone un mayor costo debido a esto), la cual le permite continuar utilizando sus aparatos por un breve periodo de tiempo, para que pueda apagarlos correctamente. Si en lo personal, no desea tener este “respaldo” al momento de que se le vaya la luz, le recomiendo que revise las otras dos opciones que mencione, y vea cuál se acomoda más a sus necesidades.Hablando ya del producto, he quedado más que satisfecho con el rendimiento que me proporciona. Lo he estado usando desde el momento que me llegó (aproximadamente 3 meses), y en ese tiempo no he tenido problemas con él. Se me ha ido la luz en varias ocasiones, y he podido continuar trabajando y apagar correctamente mis aparatos, sin problema alguno. Lo que más me ha gustado, es que se puede conectar a su computadora por medio de un cable incluÃdo en la caja, lo cuál le permite monitorear, desde un software como panel de control, el estado de su equipo y configuración asà como el consumo energético y contaminación producida.Recomiendo seguir las instrucciones de instalación y configuración que vienen en la caja, para que tenga un óptimo rendimiento su equipo.

We purchased this identical power bank about seven years ago As we were having power spikes in our power grid down our street killing our Wi-Fi routers. Once we hitched up to this power bank, there were no more issues with our routers dying As the power comes from the power bank, not directly from the power grid.This will be the second one we own, and I expect that it will be just as good as the first one.

El equipo ya pude ponerlo a prueba por primera vez y funcionó mucho mejor de lo que esperaba. Lo uso como respaldo de mi teléfono e internet y duró más de 3 horas. Si hubiese prendido mi TV y decodificador, habrÃa soportado cerca de 1 hora. Lo bueno es que si quieres evitar el ruido de la alarma por uso de la baterÃa, tiene opción para apagarla.
