A C-Wire Adapter is needed when installing a Honeywell Home Smart Thermostat and a common wire or C-Wire (24 volts) is not present. ​The C-Wire Adapter makes Honeywell Home smart thermostats compatible with most homes that don’t have a common wire.​ All Honeywell Home Smart Thermostats require 24 volts power (C-Wire)​. Some homes may have an unused C-wire sometimes tugged behind the wall where thermostat is installed.
The C-Wire Adapter takes the wires from the thermostat and provides a bridge to the equipment so there is no need to run new wires to power the thermostat.
​Push button terminals for the wires coming from the thermostat make for easy wiring.
Five wires exit the C-Wire Adapter to connect to the equipment, with the extra wire to connect to the C terminal to provide the thermostat 24 volts power.
