I had a small Eureka canister vacuum for almost 25 years and the reason I liked it was that it had a real HEPA filter. It finally died and I have been looking for a replacement. That model had been discontinued. a i’d it’s hard now finding one that has a large HEPA filter – as opposed to some foam insert or something not substantial. I found this one instead. It is perfect for my needs. I wanted something that I could use around the wood stove to vacuum up spilt ashes (after they’ve cooled of course), and other such things that I don’t want spewed back into the air via the vacuum exhaust. I will also use it while doing small interior house projects – like when sanding a piece of wood or drilling something – to hold the nozzle next to what I am doing while I am doing it. I just tried it vacuuming ashes – and it was sunny in the room and I did not see any dust / debris escaping into the air. That’s great. It’s not a vacuum for deep rugs – because it doesn’t have that rotating attachment, but it is fine for thin rugs. For the price – it’s really good. A good amount of suction and relatively quiet – and very compact. Retractable cord. And I also bought a replacement HEPA filter – which was not very expensive – (though the one in my previous vacuum lasted for years and years). So if you have a small house or apartment, or are a hobbyist that creates some debris sometimes that you wish to avoid breathing in – this is a good one. I’ve had a Miele in the past and it was super expensive. Yes, the engineering of it is somewhat more refined. But it did not have better suction. Anyway – I recommend this vacuum – for the price of about three pizzas – it’s a good solid deal!

Update: I wish I had never bought this vacuum. It has great suction power but I hate the floor head on my tile floors. I found that the hard floor tool from my old Hoover cannister fits the Ovente hose and have resorted to using it. On my large area rug with its flat pile I have to use the tool from the Ovente but it doesn’t pick anything up very well. You also have to empty the dirt cannister a couple of time during vacuuming as it seems to plug up and loose suction power. Wish I had just bought the cheap Eureka bagless.I like this little canister vacuum so far. I do have two issues that are the reason for just 4 stars over all. It has the shortest power cord that I have ever had on any vacuum that I have owned, to use it in any room/area I need an extension cord. Secondly the floor/carpet in one tool is small and seems a little flimsy. I ended up attaching the hard floor tool from my old Hoover and it did a better job of covering the floor area and its brushes are better. When I switched the Ovente floor tool to its carpet setting it cleaned okay on my low pile/flat pile carpets and rugs but it would never do well on any carpet with any kind of deeper pile. I like the pet hair tool very much and the fan blade tool did a good job too. Over all a nice vacuum but the floor tool leaves a little to be desired in it’s design.

Does require frequent cleaning. Did about half a 1300sqft house and all the ducts before it stopped sucking. Easy to clean, took it outside to empty then washed everything including the HEPA filter. Rinsing the HEPA did not bother it. Allowed all to dry over night, now I’m ready to do the 2nd half. What a lot of fine dust was trapped!True it doesn’t roll as well as it might(maybe a little oil would help) and the plastic clips that hold the dust container closed seem flimsy but with care they should be alright. The cord is only 16ft long but the auto winder is great.Overall I am happy with this little vac.

I love this vacuum!! It works far better than I expected. I used it to get little plastic beads from a bean bag toy, off my son’s floor and rug. I was incredibly surprised to see it pick up EVERYTHING in one try, it even took out ground in dirt I didn’t know was there and dog hair from our English Bulldog -even without the pet brush! Our son dropped the pet brush and it came apart but nothing broke and it went back together very easily. The vacuum and attachments assemble and disassemble easily and in seconds so switching between surfaces is easier than ever! The canister comes off nicely so that you can fish out the dominoes, or whatever you accidentally suck up, without issue. It is far more powerful than I was expecting, I could even vacuum this up from about an inch and a half away! One of my sons put his hand close to the end and it sucked his fingers in, he actually had to put some effort in to get them out, not at all like the Dirt Devil this vacuum replaced. He was pleasantly surprised and started “feeding” the vacuum. The power switch and cord winder button are stiff enough that don’t activate when bumped but can easily be turned on by a small child. The vacuum is light and easy to carry, the carrying handle is comfortably shaped and the hose drapes nicely across your shoulders to keep you from getting tangled and possibly trip as well as making it even easier to carry. I’m beyond impressed with this vacuum, it was a fantastic purchase and I would highly recommend it.
