Good smart plug
I wanted a smart plug to be able to control a light in my farmhouse remotely, so I thought I would give this one a try. Excellent choice. This plug is well made out of good quality materials. Fit and finish are excellent. Simple configuration using the downloadable app. Works well with Alexa. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

Works well, when you finally get it connected.
The plug is well made and relatively small, enough not to stand out when plugged into an outlet. It stays snug when plugged in, and the design is clean. The instructions are reasonably well-written and easy to follow.There are a couple of detractors:- I could not connect to this plug with my pre-existing apps, so I had to download another smart home app with yet another account and password to remember.- Connecting it to their app and putting the plug into pairing mode is straightforward. You will need to create an account, and you might be tempted to use the integration with Gmail. But when you try to install the Alexa integration, the Gmail integration will not work (security violation), forcing you to create another account with a different email than the initial email account. This will force you to pair the device again with the new account.- Gmail integration is broken for the Alexa app. See above note if you plan to use it with Alexa.If you have made it this far, congratulations! you now can control your plug with Alexa! At this point, if works well and as expected.

Constantly disconnecting
I didn’t buy these at Amazon. However I needed to let somebody know that these plugs are not very good. I’ve had two of these for a while. They’re constantly disconnecting and most the time it’s very difficult to get them reconnected I’m going to throw them away. That’s what they are garbage as far as I’m concerned right now and I’m going to delete the Mercury Smart app because it’s stupid.

Easy to setup, small size, doesn’t heat up
I’ve used their bulbs before and this switch was easy to setup. You have to use their App, Geeni, which requires an account (only email address needed). The App does require giving access to Wifi password – if this is an issue – just buy a cheap Wifi router and create a subnet with a dummy Wifi password. You plug in the device into socket and turn it on and use the app to detect and load it on.You can plug a lamp in and can use the app to switch on an off manually. Also, there are a plethora of rules you can make (time, date, brightness, days, etc).Highly recommend!

Connectivity Issues
Bought these to use for Christmas tree and candle warmer. Device is constantly offline almost daily. Easy to reset but annoying to reset almost every day. Same problem with the Merkury Innovations led strip lights. Bought these to use as under cabinet lighting to integrate with previously purchased Merkury products that used the geeni app. No problems with the geeni app. The new products use the new Merkury smart app and connectivity is garbage. They say 1 year warranty but good luck getting any help from tech support, emailed multiple times and only get an automated response. Save yourself the headache and buy a different brand product.

Works great, simple to operate
Got this to turn a crock pot on/off while we are away from the house. May also use it to control some decorative lights. And I found it generally easy to install/setup. I just used the app, not Alexa. May try that later, but haven’t so far. Only complaint was that in the app when you add the device it says that it’s “updating”. But after 10 minutes I just clicked out of that screen and went back to the home screen and it worked fine to turn the plug on/off. So not sure why it never cleared that “updating” status. But otherwise it was very straight forward. Overall happy with this smart plug.

Reliable connectivity!
This is a great solution to wanting a plug that you can power from your phone. I use it to turn on lights that the switch is hard to reach, so it makes it simple. I don’t have Apple or Google home or Alexa or anything, just downloaded the Mercury app that they put in the instruction book. I’ve had no issues so far. It did however take about two weeks to arrive at my home.
