Can’t beat these things with a stick
Arrived as advertised, one box was a bit crushed but the speakers inside were undamaged. I put 6 of these in the ceiling for a fully-in-ceiling 7.2 system, these respond well down to about 45Hz before you hear a noticeable dropoff. Which is plenty low enough to feed into the subwoofer array. Even without a sub, these things are fairly adequate, high build quality, great price for the money. I don’t have any issues with rattling, the circular covers snap on very positively and stay put. These will handle a 10AWG wire going to them, as well, but nothing bigger.

Good Value
I used a pair of these speakers in my recently remodeled theater room. I am as happy as I can be with these speakers considering the price. I previously used an earlier model before but found these to be sturdier and better looking than their predecessor. I had no problems at all with the mounting and the sound is good in a 5.1 system. I have used higher end speakers but these have to be the best value with little perceptual notice of degraded sound quality. I see that some of the complaints are with the bass but I think they are as good as could be expected for their size and design. However, if you want theater sound I think a sub-woofer would definitely be recommended. A good way to install a good sound system on a tight budget. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on the speaker system, you could do better…

Great speakers
Just installed these speakers in my house and they sound awesome. Crystal clear sound and they are loud. I bought two pairs and definitely recommend…… you can’t beat this price!

Plastic, Plastic Everywhere: Cheaply Made, Disappointing Sound Quality
This speaker got great reviews but there is very little to love about it. I am sad that my experience was bad, and now I have two empty 9.5″ holes in my home theater wall to show for my efforts, since these are going back.Construction – everything is made of plastic. I’m not against plastic, but this is about as cheaply made as can be, for a couple of reasons:One of the four clamps, which secure the speakers to the wall, broke. On both speakers. The screw didn’t strip – the speaker frame collapsed where the screw hole was. I was able to secure the speakers with just three clamps, but I have very little faith that these speakers can be removed and reinstalled (for instance to repaint the wall) without a total failure of the attaching clamps. There is nothing about the construction of these speakers that feels well made. If you could hold these speakers before you bought them I’d bet you wouldn’t buy them.The grills are cheaply made. The speakers come with round and square grills (nice – a selling point!) but they are made of plastic, and very thin plastic at that. After installing the speakers (I used the square grills) my kid came in and of course wanted to touch. The grill flexed and POP! – off they came. They are flimsy and will not provide protection if you are putting them in an area where they might get bumped or brushed against.Sound: Alas, if these speakers sounded great, then I would redeem them in my review. But they don’t. For 8″ speakers, these lack bass. If you are mounting them in a wall, which essentially will act as a closed-back speaker cabinet, then I expect the bass to be improved. But if you’re planning to mount these in a ceiling or anywhere else with an open back, don’t expect good frequency response. (My Bluetooth Jambox mini speaker has a more well-rounded sound.) I had not planned to use a sub-woofer in my application, but when I added one, the sound rounded out nicely. In other words, plan to use a sub if you’re going to listen to music or TV, if after reading this review you still have your heart set on these speakers. I hate to be a hater, and I really wanted to love, or at least like these speakers at this price point. But if you’re going through the trouble of cutting holes in your walls or ceiling, that’s a big commitment, and I recommend spending extra for better quality and more durable grills.

If you like your music loud and are an audiophile then you will want to spend a little more but if you are looking for some decent quality speakers for a good price then you can’t go wrong with these. Very easy to install and the sound is pretty decent. I have them installed in the walls in my hallway and basement for background music and I am very happy with them.

They sound good, but:- The amount of bass is low, but there is some. Low bass is to be expected from a ceiling speaker.- They are pretty bright in the 2-5khz range, not scooped like a traditional hi-fi speaker, so they might stand out when mixed with floor standing speakers.- The two speakers in the pair had a slightly different response to my ear, I needed to EQ them differently.Construction and installation:- The covers are white, and a little glossy. This makes them stand out against a matte painted ceiling when hit by sunlight.- Provided template was the right size. The speaker fit and mounted easily.- Seems like a very secure fit, the speaker is not falling out of the roof.- The speaker covers do not fix to the speakers well at all. Mine did not even come with ‘adhesive’.
