The Scout Air utilizes an advanced and innovative In-mold construction that combines the Tri-Matrix composite shell with the internal EPS liner. The final result is an extremely compact, lightweight helmet that surpasses both DOT and European ECE certification requirements. The ultimate in lightweight protection – in spite of the robust performance – it weighs a feathery 900 grams; so light it almost disappears on your head. Snap in either of the two included visors and tailor the look to suite your style, or pick up one of the clear or smoked full accessory shields and escape from the elements. DOT approved. Meets the FMVSS 218 Standard

Very Snug
OK…. I just received this helmet thanks to Amazon’s Sunday delivery. I was very much on the fence which size to get since a lot or reviews say it runs small. My head measures about 23 3/8″ which is in the dead zone between L & XL on their size chart. I am not sure why there even is a dead zone but I guess it is what it is…… So I went with the large since that is what I get for everything else. My first impression was “WOW, this is light” my second impression was “WOW, this is tight”. I am going to keep it though for 2 reasons. 1) I have long hair right now and once I go back to a close cut it will free up some room and I think if I had an XL it would end up being loose. 2) I think that after some time the L will mold to my head for a perfect fit. If I don’t update this post it means the large worked out.***Update 29August2020***Glad I went with the large. I usually wear a full helmet or no helmet. This was my first in between. It has broken in quite nicely but is still a bit snug. THAT is a good thing. I think if it was much looser it would slip back on my head when I am riding. One thing to mention, being inexperienced with half helmets I am not sure if this is normal, it does get a bit bouncy around 65mph. I saw one reviewer said “it catches the wind” or something to that effect around the same speed. I wasn’t sure what that meant but now I know that it means that your eyeballs rattle in your skull like marbles in a jar. All in all I am still 5 starring this lid.

Great Helmet, If It Fits
I wanted to love this helmet so much. It is without question the lightest helmet I have ever worn. Plus, it sits nicely on your head and doesn’t give you that mushroom look. Its safety rating is great. And Bell makes great helmets. BUT, even though I bought a size up, I still could barely fit it on my head. And when I did, it felt very uncomfortable, like actually painful.I have a Bell Mx9 Adventure which is one of the most comfortable helmets I’ve ever worn. And a Medium fits me great. But the Large Scout Air was just way too tight. (Full disclosure, I have cauliflower ears from wrestling and this was where the helmet hurt so I might just have a funky head.)

Retro style from a reputable brand
I have a vintage style motorcycle and I went in search of a cool helmet to match. I didn’t want flames or flags or any such weird designs, I wanted something understated, timeless, and classic. I found this, and also comfort in the Bell Scout Air. It also has the added benefit of being comfortable.Biggest thing, there are many brands of retro helmets out there. This has an awesome retro style that fits well with my motorcycle. I feel safe because Bell is a well established brand of helmets that I trust my head to. That’s actually the main reason I bought it over other similar offerings. It was a good name brand. I didn’t really trust a lot of the cool looking but smaller brands of retro helmets. When its your own noggin you’re talking about, I’ll pay a bit more and stick with a good reputation. So far it is comfortable with no “hot spots” when you wear it too long. That’s what I call the painful areas on top of your head resulting from even slight pressure, which is a problem for some helmets. Not this one. It is really worth the investment to me, because the last thing you want is to be distracted while riding due to discomfort.
