Crushes in a bright room
I really struggled with this purchase. It came down to the Sony Bravia 9, Samsung S95F, and LG G5. I watch sports (football , baseball, tennis), news and movies with the Fam. Content is SDR and HDR, both day and night. I needed a TV that performed in all situations. I have a “bright room” with large windows opposite the TV. I was particularly focused on glare performance and earned all about indirect vs direct glare, spectral and diffuse reflections. I reviewed the results of the 2025 Value Electronics TV Shootout and watched many “expert” reviews. Fast forward to installation and I wondered why I was ever concerned. I’m sure the other TVs are great. But this LG G5 fits my requirements perfectly. It is ridiculously bright (if you want it to be), really superb at handling glare/reflections, and has terrific color/blacks. The picture quality likely exceeds what my eyes can perceive. I watch any type of programming at any time of day and I am still stunned on the daily. Very happy with the purchase. Attached are some pics of Top Gun: Maverick watched during the day and a Saturday football game at dusk. Phenomenal. Go Blue!

4k 165hz, extremely bright (you can still see the screen clearly in a bright, natural light room), and pleasantly accurate colors

I am a freak for picking the best TV for the money and doing days of research. These are my only choice for a PC/gaming monitor now, with the added plus of being phenomenal for movies and shows. They are also surprisingly durable, as I've had a few LG OLEDs which have been bounced around good and all still work like new (no burn-in either!).
-Setup: You can wrestle a 65" on your own, but NOT 77" or larger. I have tried lol. Either way setup is a breeze and far safer with 2 people.

Fantastic TV just please note for reasons unknown despite its expense it does not come with a stand only mounting brackets which makes no sense because I've bought different versions of this exact type of TV twice in the past and those two came with a stand the mounting brackets are a separate purchase but this TV's got it backwards you can purchase this then on LG's website however it's not available in the states yet however there is an alternative stand you can buy on Amazon which in my opinion is way better than the stands that came with either of my last two OLED LG TVs. So aside from that issue the USB ports are very fast compared to the last models. The game optimizer is awesome the sound is way better than any previous model I've had. Please note I can't remember my previous model numbers all I can tell you is I had the 2015 OLED 65 inch class which I believe was a C tier and a 2020 65 in class which was either a c or d tier. The the audio is also very nice and the AI features for both the audio and the video is also very nice especially compared to the aforementioned models. One thing to be aware of now I've only had this happen on my Xbox One series X but that doesn't mean it won't happen on other consoles as well once in awhile upon switching from a game to the home menu or simply starting a game your TV will lose the input it happens on this model and the last two models I had I don't think LG knows how to fix it cuz all my TVs are always updated all the time I have sex over that and the issue persisted across all three models I never figured out any definite way of reproducing it other than it's a random occurrence depending on what setting you have your TV no input settings set to you'll either get a black screen or no input screen I'm not sure why this happens but the only way to fix it is to attempt to go back to the home menu or go back into the game by blindly hitting buttons on the controller.

Haven't tried the TV built in sound as I use a soundbar.

    UPDATE 5/28/2025
ISSUES ARE STILL NOT FIXED! OVER ONE MONTH LATER!
    DESPICABLE LG!
THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME BACK AFTER SERVICE COMPLAINT EITHER!
STAY FAR AWAY IF YOU LIKE QUALITY AND REFERENCE SETTINGS!

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Don't buy until issues are resolved.

I'm super bummed. I was really excited to upgrade from a 77G1 to this panel but it still had so many issues I'll have to return if they don't fix.

They pushed out a firmware update that improved Dolby Vision near black posterization and color banding but they have not fixed the same issue on HDR10.
It looks like total slop near black on any HDR10 content. Streamed or physical.

Especially compared to my previous 77G1 and 77C9 and 55E6. Generations older, and this is worse.

Video attached showing the issue in gaming.
Pictures attached with G5 on top vs competing Samsung OLED below in HDR10 content.

    Inexcusable for the price.

Size: 65 InchesStyle: TV OnlyVerified Purchase

I recently upgraded my eight years old LG OLED TV, as picture quality has improved greatly over the years and I intend on updating my PC gaming build to have a more current GPU that support 4k at 120Hz which this TV does.

    Pros
    ——
    * Very thin and existing mount out of the box has the TV very flush to the wall.
    * Reasonable price (though not inexpensive) for TV size and picture quality.
    * Even though I use wireless headphones or home theater surround speakers, I was impressed with built-in speakers quality.
    * Supports many common streaming platforms out of the box.

    Cons
    ——
    * For this price I would expect to get a backlit remote – very annoying searching for button types in the dark.
    * I myself highly dislike the magic remote pointer – there is currently no way to permanently disable it.
    * Setup is easy enough but the voice sounds as if the person inhaled the contents of a helium balloon and spoke fast.
    * There are too many "smart" features in my opinion which I myself don't use at all. Unsure if there is a permanent way to remove them or the annoying popups.
    * Seems there is a possibility for voice commands, meaning there is a microphone somewhere. I don't see any physical button/switch to turn it off. I consider this a privacy invasion issue at this day and age.

I initially gave the TV a four stars mark, just due to remote and microphone, but I decided to give it five stars due to the main function of the TV which is picture quality.

Despite initial reservations regarding the substantial investment required for this set, I have been thoroughly impressed by its performance, surpassing my expectations significantly. The majority of the concerns raised were resolved through a firmware update. The visual quality is exceptional, with an impressive brightness levels. The inclusion of four HDMI 2.1 ports is a significant advantage, as it enables seamless connectivity with my gaming consoles and streaming devices. Furthermore, the provided slim wall mount contributes to a clean and minimalist aesthetic, enhancing the overall setup. The G5 is hands down the best TV I’ve owned personally.
