High quality and Low price.
I have not attempted to examine the surge protection capabilities because I purchased the device to use as a power strip. I am happily surprised by the build quality look and feel of this $27 device. With today’s inflated prices, you could have told me this was a much more expensive unit and I would not have questioned it. It looks and feels prosumer or easily higher. It is a pleasure to use, feels solid, and it improves the look of my mobile video production rack. The power switch is good quality and it even lights up. The unit is shallow, so it leaves us options for routing air flow in the back of the rack or for installing other shallow rack devices on the rack’s rear rails. I mounted it above my PC so that I could leave the cover off of the PC for better cooling. I have not flipped the ears around, but I assume that would work. If so, then the device could be mounted proud of the mounting rails and still fit behind most road case covers.Amazon evidently addressed the poor packaging issue raised in other reviews by double boxing the product and mine arrived in good condition. I highly recommend this product to anyone who does not require expensive military spec gear, and you can apply the savings to other gear you need.Howard.WBIG.TvBuffalo, NY

Cost Effective Solution for my Bass Guitar Rack Mount System
I bought this as a cost effective option to power my bass guitar rack system. I wanted to combine an amp and a wireless system into a single protective box, with one power cord. The more professionally marketed versions of this power strip were twice as much or much more. Possibly those have more features, but all I needed was something that was rack mountable to plug multiple items into, leaving me with a single power cord to deal with when setting up. Also, of all the similar products on amazon in this price range, this one had the nicest switch. It is large and easy to find while reaching behind the rack box with no visual. The switch is also very tactile, meaning you can tell for sure whether it is on or off when you click it with your fingers. My only concern is it is a bit on the lighter side, which is nice for the overall weight of my rack system, however it gives it a feeling of less robustness. So far, so good. I would recommend this if your needs are similar to mine.

Reliable!
This rack-mount PDU is a solid choice. It’s well-built, the outlets are spaced nicely, and the surge protection gives me peace of mind. Installation was a breeze, and it’s been running reliably in my server rack ever since.

Excellent low-cost front-facing power distribution for the rack
This BTU rack mount PDU worked out perfectly. Very well made, yet light and capable. Used my own rack screws to mount it into my studio rack. I’m using it as an easily-accessible power point for anything I may need to temporarily power up in the studio â be it an amp, outboard external effect unit, synth, whatever. The only thing I don’t appreciate about it (and this is a total nit pick) is that the descriptive label affixed to the front panel is upside down in relation to the typical orientation of grounded three-prong power receptacles (with ground at the bottom) and the ON/OFF rocker switch. But I was willing to live with an upside-down label in my rack so that the switch rocks upward for ON and downward for OFF, and the receptacles are turned the way all the others in my studio are.

Basic PDU
I have a few of these in my rack and they are a very solid, basic PDU. I don’t have a ton of load on them, but one has around 700 watts on it at all times and it doesn’t seem to flinch. Mounted in a 19″ rack without any issue, and the cord was enough to reach to the bottom of the rack from about eye level.

Use on back rack rails
I freed up a space in my rack by removing a power unit from the front rails and using this power strip on the rear rails. The power switch can be found and operated by feel while standing in front of the rack (reaching over the top or around the side). I don’t trust it for power surges though, so I plug it into an external isobar.

Headline pretty much says it all. Appears to be well made with attention to all the important details. Like the spacing of the plugs accommodates integrated power brick/plug combinations nicely.
