the timing of this 3rd edition couldn’t have been better!
Granted, D. Fish’s book on effective networking via LinkedIn has had immense value since it first hit the shelves.Still, there is something about the timely release of this 3rd edition that feels “meant to be.”So many of us continue to hear how valuable LinkedIn can be as a resource for finding jobs, filling roles, creating buzz, building brands, and so much more… yet we seem to be inundated with less-than-best practices that threaten to render our own efforts unproductive (or, worse, counterproductive).Toss a global pandemic into the mix, and it’s a wonder that any of us have the clarity of mind to network with confidence on LinkedIn.That’s where D. Fish and his revised manual, of sorts, come in.The perfect companion piece to another of his books “Networking in the 21st Century: Why Your Network Sucks and What To Do About It,” this one focuses on helping people get out of their own way and experience fruitful, enjoyable relationship building in a virtual environment.I especially appreciated the section in “Avoid These LinkedIn Faux Pas,” where he warns against sending connection requests with no customization. If I had a nickel for every time…D. Fish’s wise mentorship goes far beyond that brief section, however, at times nodding to sage advice from influences like author Heather Bennett that you know he holds dear.Don’t waste another minute bouncing around LinkedIn with little in the way of direction or strategy.Pick up a copy of this book and learn for yourself how rewarding and fulfilling professional networking on LinkedIn can truly be!

This book was an incredible help through a difficult job search!
I have always been amazed by David’s experience and have been following him on LinkedIn for a while, so when I got an opportunity to get an advance copy of this book, I was over the moon. As a young person I thought I knew LinkedIn but boy oh boy, did he prove me wrong, I was also in the middle of a job search in a difficult market. LinkedIn played such a large part of me landing the job of my dreams, every recruiter I spoke to said the first thing they did was go into my profile. Reading this book gave me the confidence to create and network my brand. I truly believe that David has hit every angle of LinkedIn including the privacy setting which many of us aren’t even aware of, in what conditions should you or should you not upgrade to premium? and do you know why you shouldn’t ignore those job anniversaries or birthday notifications? Well this book will tell you and much more. A complete must is you spend any amount of time on LinkedIn!

An accessible read with a valuable blend of practical tips and theory
Most people make the mistake of treating LinkedIn like a megaphone, a broadcast medium. The truth is that LinkedIn’s value lies in building relationships based on interaction and adding value up front before asking for something from your network. David Fisher demonstrates an expert understanding of this dynamic and passes it on to readers with clear, enjoyable language in this book. With a short read, he provides real-world tactics that you can put into practice today, while still conveying the “whys” behind them, which will allow you to future-proof your approach to LinkedIn networking (as the platform is constantly changing and evolving). Highly recommended for sellers and professional of all stripes looking to build a durable network that pays dividends.

    Fisher is the LinkedIn Master!
LinkedIn is a platform that holds tremendous potential for anyone looking to grow their business or advance their career. Unfortunately, it’s also a place that’s ripe for abuse and misuse by those who see opportunity as a strictly one-way street — all the benefits of their network flowing only to themselves.David Fisher knows more about LinkedIn than anyone, and here he guides you step-by-step through the process of getting the most from this important business tool. And doing it in a smart, ethical, effective way. I have no doubt it’s a book I will come back to again and again for reference as my business and life evolve.

LinkedIn—it’s more than just a profile!
Many people have a LinkedIn profile, but not many know how to maximize the platform to get the most out of it. D. Fish does. In this book, he explains how to clarify your social networking strategy, why you need an online personal brand, and how to use LinkedIn to find and engage your business network.Best of all, D. Fish shows you how to craft a compelling LinkedIn profile—something I’ve struggled with in the past.

This book answers your burning questions
As a career transition coach, every client I work with asks me how to use LinkedIn better for networking and job search. I am just going to refer them to this fantastic book from now on because David J.P. Fisher is truly an expert on this, and the examples are really helpful. (And you should probably buy a copy because I’m guessing you could get better at using LinkedIn, too.)

David J.P. Fisher has done a great job of pulling together all you need to make LinkedIn work for you. This type of context is very helpful… “…Shares don’t have as much reach as an original post. So only use it occasionally when you want to give a strong show of support.”This, too: “…Finally, the Send feature allows you to send a post directly to a connection. This is the 21st-century version of clipping a newspaper article and mailing it to someone. By Sending a post to someone, you can highlight an important topic, inform them of an industry event, or let them know you are thinking of them when you aren’t together. It’s a great way to share information and reinforce the bond between the two of you.”Thank you David for this book. It has saved me many hours.
