Networking in Many Different Areas of Life
The Masters of Networking book was a great read because it had lots of articles that pertained to people in all walks of life. I enjoyed the articles on networking to adopt children, mothers networking, the networking habits of children as well as the articles about traditional business networking. The variety of writing styles and points of view made this an interesting and entertaining read. Also, being a busy professional, I liked the short articles so I could pick the book up and read a little.I would highly recommend this book for business professionals and those looking to build support in their life.

Where’s the beef?
Masters of Networking offers some warm and inspirational stories, but fails to serve up meatier content. I found many stories about the greatness of networking, but few articles that offered effective strategies.I also didn’t like the books tendency to be repetitive to a fault. For example a lot of the articles tell you not to be a “bore.” This is an important fact, but I am smart enough to get it the first twenty times.I enjoyed this book, but it didn’t help me much….although it did allow me to write a review with a lot of buts.

Join a local chapter of BNI today to conceive a larger dream team
If ever there was anyone who understands the power of conceiving in what he calls “positive and supportive” ways, it’s Ivan Misner. I’ve been a member of the company he founded, Business Network International, for years now. Every single year I have conceived with other positive people and found my referral network growing. Ivan helped refer me to my publisher and he and Beth are now friends of mine. Join a local chapter of BNI today to conceive a larger dream team of positive people than you ever imagined. No local chapter? Email Ivan and start one today.

With big names such as Bill Gates, Colin Powell, Ed Asner on the front and back covers, I thought they would be the ones weighing on their experiences. Not so. “Masters of Networking” is full of “tips”, to be sure, but it was not as interesting as I thought and after awhile, became somewhat repetitive. It may “do it” for some people, but I was not impacted.
