Customers say

Customers find the timer switch works well, particularly with low-wattage bathroom fans and Panasonic exhaust fans, and appreciate its high-quality construction and straightforward operation. Moreover, they like its design, with one customer noting the amber LEDs are easy on the eyes, and find it easy to install. However, the power-saving feature receives mixed feedback, with some reporting it turns off for brief periods. Additionally, the switch requires a neutral wire for installation.

    Just what I needed
Works exactly as advertised, which is quite well. Had a small wiring issue during my diy install, but a quick call to tech support had me fixed up. It came with everything I needed except I did have to get a new switch plate which is a given since I switched from a standard switch.

    The best
Maybe I’m showing my age when I say it, but these are my absolute favorite timer switches for fans. I have these in every bathroom in my house now and I think they are fantastic. They work really well. They look great with matching Lutron dimmers.A minute before shutting off they have a feature where they will shut offand turn back on quickly which is nice because it lets you know that you’re about out of time.

Works as expected. A neutral wire is REQUIRED.
Works as expected. Easy installation with included wire nuts and screws. A neutral wire is REQUIRED in order to power the timing circuit. At one minute remaining in its timing cycle, the unit “blinks” the load as a reminder. I use these for the exhaust fans around my home.

    Exhaust fan timer switch
Purchased this to replace my basic on/off switch and I wish I had done it sooner. You can set the timer to whatever you prefer or manually turn on and off. I usually opted to turn it on and have it run for a full 60 minutes. The switch worked perfectly and it lights up to show you where it’s at. Buy it!

    Pricey but worth the cost
Stylish, intuitive and easy to use. Install took around 20 minutes and the countdown timer works well.I really like that it has a “memory” of the last used setting so I always leave mine on the 30min setting.

    Intuitive and easy to use!
The Good:• Fits perfectly into a standard existing decora/decorator-style switch plate.• Installation instructions are clear• includes wire nut for ground wire (previous switch had ground wire attached to screw)• Does what you want – turns fan on and off, and time remaining display is pretty clear and easily adjustable• One of the simplest, best-looking designs in this product categoryThe Not So Good:• The push button has a bit of wiggle to it – you can tell it’s just a decorative plate loosely in front of a tiny momentary switch button• The white is slightly different than the P&S Legrand switches I have it installed next to (but it looks better than the Legrand version of this timer, so we’ll live with it)• Requires neutral wire for installation, which is actually a good thing, so it can work with more efficient fans and doesn’t have to draw its power through the fan motor itself 24/7, but it doesn’t include a piece of wire to hook that up with, I had to go scrounge some up. Make sure you have appropriate gauge electrical wire to install this with, because unless you’re replacing an existing timer switch made for efficient fans, you probably don’t have a spare neutral wire just hanging out in your switch box.The Other:• This one could be good or bad really, but I would have liked to know about the 1-minute warning, where it cuts power to the fan for ~1 second when there’s 1 minute remaining on the timer, I don’t love it, but it is effective at communicating that if you want the fan to keep running, you’ve gotta add more time.

Good match to the rest of the Lutron Maestro line.
This switch is exactly what I was looking for. I’m in the process of cutting over everything to Lutron switches, since they seem to have the broadest range of home automation. Maestro line (this is part of that line) has some really nice switches that match pretty well with the Caseta line for pure home automation. This switch matches the rest of the switches, it requires a neutral (like much of the Maestro line) giving it the ability to hand all kinds of loads including motors and other non-resistive loads. Plus, you can use a standard companion Maestro switch to use in a 3-way (or n-way, actually) configuration giving you a fair amount of flexibility. To set up the switch, you set the little up/down toggle on the right to set the time until off (in 5 minute increments). It will accept infinity (always on) as the longest setting. To operate, you tap the switch, the LED start flashing at the selected increment and it will turn off in the time you’ve selected during setup. With 1 minute to go, it will flash the lights briefly alerting you that it’s about to shut off.The downside is that you do need a neutral, and unlike the rest of the Maestro line it did not come with the usual 3″ neutral extension, so you’ll have to craft your own. And the LED is not green to match the rest of the line, it’s more of a neon-glow orange.Despite the manufacturer’s caution, it will work with LED lights provided they draw sufficient power (some claim it’s less than 5 watts). Highly recommended.

    So great for steamy bathrooms
Love how I can just turn my fan on now and leave without worrying about it being on all day. Easily set the time and just let it run. I don’t worry about any mildew or mold growing in my bathrooms.

Purchased this item to go alongside a Lutron dimmer & standard switch. The function is elegant and useful, easy to change the time looks great along the other lutron switches. Note that Lutron switches fit the standard junction box bays but the switches themselves are a bit narrower so you may wish to remain consistent if you’re adding a Lutron switch to a two-or-more-gang box.Note that these style of timers require a dedicated power feed to operate (they won’t work if you don’t have a dedicated power supply that’s not switched by the timer).

Once installed, I can set the timer on the switch, and not worrying about forgetting to turn off the ventilation fan. The switch offers multiple countdown times up to 60 minutes. It also has the function of bypassing the timer and work as an on/off switch. The package should have included a neutral wire. I need to obtain a neutral wire in order to have the switch installed. (This can be a challenge to people who are not familiar with electrical wirings.) If a neutral wire is included in the package, it would be a 5-star rating, instead of a 4-star rating.

I had originally purchased a different Lutron switch to control a bathroom fan. But that one did not work properly after installing. I called Lutron Customer Support. They were very polite / professional and we realized that my bathroom fan (originally installed by builder) had a very low amperage which was below the minimum required. They suggested this model (has a lower minimum amperage requirement) and after installation it works and controls the fan as expected. Satisfied with the purchase and the Lutron Customer Support.

I wanted to replace an on/off switch to control the bathroom ceiling fan. First, I thought I made a mistake in the installation because the fan was struggling to start. As if the power was not enough. I reconnected the wires several times. Then I put back the old switch, and test it with another timer, and the fan was working correctly every time with all the other switches, so the problem was in this product.
