Customers say
Customers find the welding helmet works well, with one noting it performs as good as a $300 model, and appreciate its good quality and value for money. The visibility is excellent, with one customer noting it’s clearer than green or blue tinted hoods, and the auto-darkening feature receives mixed feedback – while some say it works great, others report it doesn’t darken at all. The helmet’s durability is concerning, with multiple customers reporting it breaks after 6 months of use, and the headgear stability is problematic as the headband adjustment doesn’t hold in place. Customers disagree on the comfort level.

Surprisingly good (SMAW experience)
I would classify myself as a âserious hobby welderâ. I have 4 welding helmets and this one is my favorite. Itâs comfortable and works flawlessly. Itâs so easy to see through the un-darkened lens I sometimes forget itâs down and carry on working. It never darkens when it shouldnât (like when Iâm facing the sun). The âtrue colorâ aspect takes some getting used to but is quite nice and now Iâm spoiled. Iâm so used to everything being green and only seeing the arc and puddle that at first it feels like itâs not dark enough, but being able to see the rest of the work is huge. No more drawing lines! I probably keep it brighter than I should (maybe 9-10 for SMAW) but I can clearly see where Iâm going which saves me a ton of prep time, and even saves clamping in some cases because I can just hold the piece where I want it.My only (small) complaint is that the ability to see beyond the puddle only seems to work in daylight. Once the sun starts setting it feels like using a normal hood, just not green. The arc is just too bright compared with the rest of the work (I might be able to see better if I made it darker – I should try that).Iâve burned probably 200-300 rods with this hood on and I couldnât be happier. All stick welding – everything from 1/16â to 5/32â.. 6010, 6011, 7014, and 7018. No mig or tig though, and I have not used it for grinding or oxy-acetylene cutting or welding so I canât comment on how well it works for those applications.Overall, Iâd highly recommend this for anyone from âbeginnerâ to âserious hobby welderâ, or maybe âbackup hood for prosâ. I canât honestly recommend it for professionals because Iâm not a professional and I simply donât know how well it would hold up under extreme use. While itâs certainly not cheap feeling, itâs still plastic and maybe not heavy-duty enough. Iâve dropped it a few times and itâs gotten a little wet, but Iâm also not wedging myself under a 24â pipe in a ditch full of water and welding overhead all day.

Great but could be perfect with some minor improvements.
Pros: Optical clarity is excellent. The tint when not welding isn’t too dark. Headgear is comfortable. Fan and light are very nice and work well.Cons: outer lens lacks a gasket, so the weld smoke gets in behind it and requires disassembly to clean. Fan/light battery could be bigger. Knobs on the outside are too easy to turn, taking the helmet in and out of my bag always moves them. You almost have to max out the tightness off the headgear swivels to keep the helmet from sagging down when flipped up. The battery that comes in the helmet is not rechargeable.

Good hood
Extremely happy with this hood so far. I know a couple guys in my shop that have 300-400 dollar hoods who borrow mine because they prefer it. Fits comfortably, sensors work great, easy to replace batteries, or take apart to clean or remove/replace viewing area pieces. Seems pretty durable. Light is pretty awesome and fan does help. I took it completely apart and put it back together when I first got it and it was pretty easy. Weâll see if it stands the test of time but so far holds up good and I have high hopes and Iâm very satisfied. Comes with stickers to put on too if youâre into that kind of thing but I like it plain black myself. For what it cost Iâd say a hell of a buy.

It worked for about an hour..
The helmet stays dark on weld. I tried to get help and support. I’m stuck with with a paper weight. Unusable. I had a good experience last time I bought a helmet by yeswelder. This one is just unusable, it worked for under an hour of usage and is now just worthless… Unfortunately I have to say I won’t buy any more products from this brand after this experience.

I especially ordered this for the True Colour and big big screen, but it was not true colour.Otherwise it was comfortableThe shade numbers on the dial adjuster are difficult to read, and there’s no obvious way to switch between the Hi/Lo shading.

Light weight and very adjustable with all the bells and whistles youll need at a surprising price. Comes with extra lenses and extra battery, which I swapped in immediately. Changing the battery is a bit of effort and will require you to unmount the lens assembly from inside. You have to pull hard on the retaining latch at the bottom and you may worry about breaking it, but dont worry its pretty sturdy. Also a word of caution, if you *must* remove the web from the two outside adjustment knobs, so it slowly and do only one side at a time, as the adjustment knobs are actually an assembly of 7 small plastic pieces that will eject and scatter everywhere leaving you trying to figure out how it all goes back together.Otherwise it works great out of the box, just read the manual and how to set up the delay and brightness for your uses. The view was so clear that I could actually see the electrical arc from the tip of my plasma cutter on the material surface separate from the sparks and puddle. I would buy this unit again.
