Customers say

Customers find the astronaut helmet looks fantastic and is great for space-themed costumes. However, the sturdiness and quality receive negative feedback, with customers noting it’s made of fragile, thin plastic that could crack and is not worth the price. Moreover, the snaps don’t line up properly, and the helmet is prone to dents and scratches.

This “space” helmet is clearly not fit for use in outer space. The helmet is actually in TWO pieces and is held together with plastic snaps. And sure they hold up fine on Earth but would clearly be a violation of any standards of safety once you are in the cold dead vacuum of space. I still gave it five stars cause it was super fun to wear. But only on Earth. And what good is a “space” helmet you can’t use in space?

    This is cheap Chinese plastic.
Not worth the price they are asking for. The quality is too cheap and flimsy. This might hold up for one evening of trick or treating but this company needs to buzz off with this thing.

Looks cool in photos, but very chintzy
I wore this helmet when I went to a party as Felicette, the French cat who went to space. The photos of myself in the helmet are very convincing (a little thanks to Instagram filters…), but the build quality isn’t great. As another reviewer said, the snaps don’t line up. Yes, you can staple it, but then you’re stuck with the thing on your head all night; that defeats the point of snapping on and off.I’m not sure if it’s the inability to fully snap it, but I cannot get this helmet to actually sit on my neck/shoulders properly. The only way I could sit it upright and not drooping down, leaning against the back of my skull, was if I wrapped a scarf tightly around my neck for padding. Suffice it to say, that is not very comfortable, nor is it space-accurate!The best part about this is the face-hole. Breathing is nice to do, as is drinking beer. The build of this thing is worth $10, not the $30 I paid. however, there are few options, and this seems better than going for a child’s helmet.

Best astronaut helmet on the market for a reasonable price.
The best astronaut helmet on the market. The back of the helmet was seriously scratched (but it’s was behind my head, so it didn’t matter much to me) and the helmet doesn’t stay in place (falls forward/is not stable), but that can be easily fixed by clamping/attaching it to your clothes). The opening in the front is great—it allows for easy breathing and looks invisible on pictures.

    just no
I was so unhappy about this. it arrived pretty messed up. and there’s scratches and cloudiness all over the dome and the buttons to bring it together were half on half off, the dome itself was squashed and mishapen and cracked. the collar where it attaches to each other was broken off the helmet. its more like a dollar store toy and I was expecting more quality. I’m honestly annoyed I wasted my money on this. I tried to glue it together and make it work anyways, it was so flimsy and cheap and it gave me really intense static which sucked but not necessarily a fixable issue its cheap flimsy plastic it can happen. I get that. I would be less annoyed if I didn’t have to deal with so many other issues too tho.

    Not worth rating!
This was one of the worst items I have ever gotten off Amazon. Not even worth rating this. So cheaply made…..front and back didn’t line up and there were dents in it. No paperwork included so couldn’t send back. Don’t bother to order. I had to pick 1 star or I couldn’t leave this feedback. Not worth the 1 star!!!!!

Great for Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors
I purchased this for the Dentist costume in our production of Little Shop of Horrors. I was concerned that the whole in the front was going to look stupid on stage, but once the lights were on, it was hardly noticeable. In fact it was FANTASTIC! It looked great! This worked out better than I could have ever hoped. It didn’t steam up on the inside and the hole made it so that the quality of sound and microphone weren’t interfered with. Once you hit tech week, you might want to buy a second one If you’re blocking is a little rough on the helmet. We didn’t need it, but you don’t want to find out that you do on a show night.

    It’s a plastic dome
This definitely feels overpriced for what you’re getting. It’s two halves of a plastic dome that connect around your head with snaps. It gets the job done for my Madame Leota costume but I have to be very careful, it feels like the thin plastic could crack/break/crumple if I move wrong. It’s not very heavy and the hole in the front keeps it from feeling claustrophobic. Not bad but I do feel like I overpaid.

This might be the worst costume prop I’ve ever come across at this price. It starts with poor quality and incredibly badly conceived construction. It doesn’t work as a “space helmet”, as the two piece construction continually comes apart. The connection system is laughably bad and inadequate. And the two parts don’t fit. The plastic is flimsy and totally unsuitable for the task. Beyond cheap. Overpriced and almost indescribably bad.

Package it came damaged, material is the kind of cheap plastic they use to package dollar store items. There’s a large hole in the middle. Worth maybe $5 at best.
