Great Helmet but read the commentsâ¦
Very comfortable helmet, the vents work well in Florida weather. I read many comments about the shade holders not securing well.. itâs true I could be better designed. Based on manufacturer measurements I supposed to be a medium, initially I ordered a medium size and it was very very tight.. definitely it runs small. Returned and ordered the Large size. The straps are also short, works well with my ears⦠just right. The helmet has that cool sweat band ( only works well if your head if youâre egg shaped head) I always wear a sweat band anyways so I changed for the regular sponge band included with the helmet.. so to whom it may concernâ¦. I bought my helmet at 50% off so it was a great deal. Itâs comfortable, looks cool.

Cool helmet with major flaw
I like the look of this helmet but it has three major flaws.1. The chin straps do not clear my ears and can not be adjusted.2. My Oakley jawbreakers do not fit securely into the helmet.3. The fit runs small.

Super comfy, quality road helmet
This is incredibly comfortable and amazing fit, just measure and look up size guide on Oakley site. Ive owned several high end road helmet from POC, Abus, Sworks, etc. This is the best helmet ive ever purchased from the moment I first put it on, I kid you not …. just a great helmet.

SAVED MY HUSBANDS LIFE
Hey All – this helmet literally saved my husbands life last week. He was mountain biking downhill and hit the ground at full speed HEAD FIRST. Huge thanks to oakley and the MIPS technology – without it he wouldn’t be here. May not be the coolest looking helmet, but we’re replacing it with the same. <3

My new favorite helmet
My previous helmet was an aro3 and I do feel that this is an upgrade.I saw some reviews saying Oakley Jawbreakers donât fit in the sunglass slits. It fits perfectly fine for me. In fact, more secure than on my Aro3The ONLY reason I left off one star, Iâve read and seen concerns of the chin strap âtriangleâ is unusually short. For me, it barely fits over my ear. So close than and shorter and this helmet would be returned. So be mindful of that. Fortunately for me, the straps fit (just barely) fine and the helmet is very comfortable and light.

A Disappointing Second Act From the Mighty Oakley!
When Oakley released their long overdue (first generation) cycling helmets, many riders/Oakley fans bought them. But none of the models, ARO3, ARO5, OR DRT5 were met with acclaim by cycling journalists. They all had their issues but considering it was the brandâs first foray into the category, I cut them some slack.Rookie mistakes aside, when I saw and bought the new ARO5 Race, I was excited and hopeful all the common complaints about the original models had been addressed.Yes, some were, but sadly not the important ones!In the end, I was underwhelmed with this second-generation helmet and Iâll tell you why:Pros:⢠Low profile shell – Looks sleek!⢠BOA laces – Comfortable and do not interfere with eyewear stems.⢠Silicon brow pad – Keeps sweat from running down your face.⢠Modern (angular) aesthetic – Matches the design language of Oakleyâs latest eyewear.⢠Differentiated design – The design of the ARO3 is unique from the ARO5, unlike the first gen helmets that share the same back half!Cons:⢠Poor eyewear holder (can you believe it!) – This was THE biggest miss in my opinion. If thereâs something Oakley has to get right, itâs this. None of my eyewear (Sutro, Flight Jacket, Jawbreaker, Radar) felt secure when stowed in the helmet. Thereâs a good chance it will slip and fall off when you least expect it. The silver lining here is that the eyewear holder/gripper is removable and so it should be pretty easy for Oakley to make a running change (fingers crossed!) to improve its design.⢠Poorly designed intake ports and exhaust vents – Except for the two small brow intake slits that forces air down the lens of the eyewear, the rest of the helmetâs air management is rudimentary compared to the competition. This makes the helmet run hot.⢠Heavy – 320g for a Large. 301g for a Medium.⢠Runs small – I had to size up, which defeats the benefit of a low-profile exterior shell.⢠Bulky chin strap – Uncomfortable around the ears.

DO NOT BUY if you sweat at all from your head.
This is the 4th helmet Iâve purchased trying to find the perfect helmet. It checked every box⦠affordable, stylish, sleek, well ventilated, and most importantly, comfortable. The BOA adjustment system is really nice, but it needs to be loosened to take off your head, which means it has to be tightened down every time you put it on. Itâs exactly like BOA on shoes, works great, but requires adjustment with every use. The straps also make a high pitched whistle in your ear once you get up over 15 mph.Hereâs where it gets bad, and I mean REALLY BAD. I can ride with the helmet on for no more than the time it takes me to start sweating. The silicone strip (pictured) mounted in the front of the helmet to mitigate sweat pouring into you eyes does the exact opposite. In fact it traps sweat in it, and then directs a constant flow straight down the bridge of your nose, into your eyes, and all over your sunglasses. It retains sweat until itâs full, and then the faucet turns on and your ride is over. Iâve had to remove both my helmet and glasses on two separate rides just so I could finish. I wouldnât wish this helmet on my worst enemy. If it werenât for the redeeming factors like the fit and style, I would have given it 1 star.
