Why does my joystick have strange resistance or some abnormal noise?
This may be because the non-integrated caps became loose during transportation. It can usually be repaired by pressing down vertically with a little force on the center of the joystick cap.
Why are the joysticks slightly uncentered in the joystick calibration page?
The ALPS joystick used by SD has an accuracy of ±5 degrees in the center, GuliKit joystick has an ±3 degrees. Therefore under no dead zone, the joystick may not return to the center exactly each time. It’s normal and will not affect the experience.
What should I pay attention to before installation?
1) Remove your SD card.
2) Confirm that your joystick model is Type A or Type B, and switch the type on the board buttons first.
3) It is best to find relevant video and follow them step by step.
4) Don’t hurt yourself when using tools.

Gulikit Electromagnetic Module joystick (New model: SD02), designed to perfectly fit Steam Deck Type A and Type B. The included converter allows you to easily select the TYPE you want. (‘Settings → System → Steam Deck Controller ID’, ‘MEDA’ is Type A, ‘MHDA’ is Type B), [Not compatible with OLED version].
Bid farewell to stick drift, creeping, stuttering, blind spots, non-centered, broken, and loose joysticks with GuliKit’s patented 3D Hall Effect Sensor joystick.
No need to worry about soldering, the joystick comes with installation caps that preserve Steam Deck’s original touch functionality. If you experience stuck joystick issues, it is due to the cap that comes pre-installed and came loose during shipping. You only need to press the cap vertically down in the center position to use it normally.
Select the Type A or Type B mode on the joystick board, enter the joystick calibration interface on Steam Deck and press the tiny switch on the joystick board if the spot is off the center position. (Follow the installation and calibration steps in our product description picture).

Customers say
Customers find the joysticks easy to install, taking about 15 minutes, and appreciate their functionality, with one customer noting they work great with Type B/MHDA thumbsticks. Customers consider them a nice upgrade over the original ones, though opinions about build quality are mixed, with some praising their construction while others report poor quality control. The accuracy and stick feel receive mixed feedback – while some find them very precise and smooth, others report calibration issues and a terrible “grinding” feel. The dead zone performance is also mixed, with some customers noting a practically nonexistent dead zone while others wish it were zero.

Gyroslynky –
Fit perfectly, no drifting.
Super easy to install, didn’t even have to calibrate after install. They were pretty well calibrated, no drifting, no issues. Perfect direct replacement. Just have to install them into the correct position (Left and right stick position). I personally, feel they are an upgrade from the OEM sticks (OEM potentiometers) to installed (electromagnetic). I feel they have a better response time, of course calibrate after install, but I feel they also move smoother.

SD02 works great with Type B / MHDA thumbsticks
This is a review for the type B compatible SD02 version of the thumbsticks. In short, they worked great for me. The install and calibration can be done in less than 10 minutes. You’ll probably have to calibrate them with the button on the back of each joystick before putting the cover back on, but it’s not a huge issue. The container they shipped in also works well to store the original thumbsticks. I wouldn’t have minded if you had to solder the caps on, but it does save you a couple of minutes if you ever have to swap back in your old sticks for whatever reason, plus you get a spare set of caps.My left stick’s calibration was perfect from the box, but my right one was off a little bit. I had no weird issues with deadzones after calibrating, or with other issues people had with the previous version such as the sticks grinding / scratching / sticking, or the motion not being smooth. If I had to pick a “negative” it would be that one stick is was switched to A and one stick was switched to B from the factory. You should be inspecting this anyway before installing, but I’m sure someone will leave a one star review eventually mentioning the gyro not working correctly.Assuming they hold up over time these are a great replacement for the stock thumbsticks. Just don’t expect them to make you a better gamer.

A good investment
Highly recommended to purchase these as the original thumbsticks modules, (being potentiometers), will wear out over time with use and develop an issue known as stick drift. You personally may luck out and never experience this as it doesn’t always develop at the same rate and severity for every module as it varies greatly on the amount of time the sticks are used, but given enough time and use it will happen. These hall effect modules are multitudes of times more resistant to drift issues and are much more accurate allowing you to set the dead zone of the stick much lower. If you plan to keep and use your steam deck for years to come, then it’s a no brainer to invest in these. These are very easy to install if you have the tools necessary, (a small phillips head screw driver and a plastic pry tool). The only complaint I have is that there are no instructions included in the box and requires visiting the gulikit website for instructions which I highly recommend as if you simply just do a drop in install you may mess up as there is a small switch and button on each module you’ll need to use to make sure the sticks are properly adjusted and calibrated as the box makes no mention of these.

Make the instructions foolproof
Great product! I initially thought I received a defective unit, as the stick drift was worse than my stock joysticks. However, I just read the instructions on Amazon, and I realized I didnt calibrate them correctly. Apparently, you are supposed to install them, leave the back cover off, turn the Steam deck on, align the controllers toward the direction they are drifting, and press the calibration button on the back. I thought this would just be a plug and play solution, so I didnt bother to read the instructions. I feel like a warning is necessary in bold, red text that says “MAKE SURE TO READ INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT CALIBRATION!”, otherwise this accidental ignorance could plague more people who buy this, and leave a poor review.

Good quality, good value!
Installed quite easily, and I was lucky enough to have the sticks show up already on the proper setting (there is a switch you need to adjust depending on the original stick type). Performance is good and they look like original. I would recommend for an inexpensive easy fix for stick drift issues.

Easy to install, too bad it was a defective unit.
I watched a video on YouTube for the installation, it was a breeze. However, I wished that I had inspected the sticks before putting it on because as you can see from the picture, the stick was sitting uneven right out of the box and therefore defective. No matter how many times I moved the stick around, it would always recenter in this manner and be actually off centered. Because of this, the calibration did not help… How can it when it is this badly off centered physically? So I wasted all that time taking my deck apart and putting it back together for nothing. About an hour total. Worse yet, steam deck uses self tapping screws (you can look up what that means) but long story short each time you take the screws out of the deck and put it back in you run the risk of widening the holes or going in too deep, so this entire installation was a giant waste of time and a risk not worth the effort. I wished that the manufacturer had better quality control, it’s so obvious that the stick was off centered visually, but it’s clear their quality control was non existent since this unit was sold. Overall, I would say my stick felt cheap vs the original steam deck sticks, so I probably would not do this again until my stick starts drifting and its time for a replacement. The process was easy so if you want to do this, know that it is a breeze… Just make sure your stick is NOT defective before you waste your time with the installation like I did. I still recommend everyone do this mod, it’s easy and worth it.

Calibration process is not that simple!
Installing these is quite eaasy, but calibrating them is a a whole ‘nother deal. The celibration button on the board works great, but some users might forget to hit this prior to using the Steam Deck internal calibration tools and think they got a faulty joystick.Once you get them working you can lower the deadzones on you Steam Deck and start gaming.

Right stick arrived with a defect and looks like really cheap plastic.Edit: Got a refund for the right stick. After almost 2 months of use, they are still precise, but the feel the touch sensor is really not great. If you only care about the precision and reliability of the hall effect, go for it, but expect lower feel and look compared to valve’s.
Nuboo –
Upgrading the joysticks to the Gulikit one is really simple and with the new calibration through the konsole. It’s become way easier. I would easily recommend that way instead of manually clicking the button on the back while adjusting it.

I bought these to replace the stock sticks after my Steam Deck fell and one stick was damaged. They were easy enough to install so long as you followed directions available online, and seem to work great since I installed them. I have noticed no stick drift in my use. Make sure you set them to match which Deck you have otherwise you might have issues. Overall recommend if you want hall effect sticks or if you just need to replace the stock sticks.
G.C. –
The red cable that connects the joystick to the board is too short. It gets stuck when rotating the joystick and it gives a very unpleasant feeling.
