The Story Between ANCEL and You – Selected
On January 13, 2025, a 335ix GT car owner faced fault code issues after replacing the car battery.
Just as he was debating whether to spend a fortune at the dealership, he pulled out the BM700 scanner.
To his surprise, this little tool not only easily helped him register the battery but also cleared all the fault codes with just one click!
He smiled and said, “This scanner is practically tailor-made for BMWs—simple to use and incredibly powerful. Not only did it save me a trip to the dealership, but it also gave me confidence for future diagnostics!”
【BM700 Upgraded Version AUTO V-I-N】The BM700 PRO for BMW OBD2 scanner is the upgraded version of the BM700—designed specifically for BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce. Smarter, faster, and way less work! Heads up: Must be 12V cars manufactured in 2000 or later that are OBD2-complian with 16-Pin OBD2 protocols (J1850VPM, J1850PWM, IS09141, KWP2000 and CAN).

Note: If the vehicle itself has a hard fault, it must be repaired before clearing the fault code.

But one thing that does the most to ensure your car runs smoothly is taking care of your battery. Battery replacement and registration is a simple DIY process—let BM700 Pro for bmw scan tool do the work for you.

Simply connect it to your vehicle, follow the on-screen prompts, and diagnose anytime, anywhere. Fast, simple, and convenient. No automotive expertise needed; anyone can diagnose like a pro.

Good scanner
This is a good scanner. I bought it because with the BMW Z4, when you install a new battery you have to register it to the carâs computer. This scanner will do that if itâs the same size battery as the old one. It will not register the new battery if it is a different sized battery.I will be returning this one and buying a BMW scanner that will register different sized batteries.

Really Great Auto Diagnostic Scanner
Before ordering this ANCEL BM700 PRO (for BMW) Scanner I already had an OBDII scanner (an older one). Since I already had a tool similar to the BM700, some might wonder why I ordered the BM700. The primary reason was for the battery registration function. To the extent possible I have always been a DIYer, and replacing the battery in my car is something that I could handle without a problem, but not the required registration of the new battery into the system – I believe that requires a trip to the dealer’s service department and an outlay of a few hundred dollars. For less than that amount, anyone competent enough to replace a car battery and armed with this scanner can easily handle the registration themselves, PLUS be able to access a wealth of information about their car, read (and clear) any trouble codes that the vehicle’s on-board computer might throw, and much more. I live in a state that doesn’t require regular vehicle inspections, but if I DID I would really appreciate the I/M functionality, which helps to prepare for the testing that a vehicle inspection performs. The results of the I/M tests could reveal issues that would cause the FAIL of the vehicle inspection so they can be addressed BEFORE the actual inspection and save potential re-testing that might be required. This is a well-made piece of equipment with a ruggedized case, a vivid and easy to read color screen (not touch sensitive) and a user-friendly menu system to access all the functionality the tool provides. It comes with a User’s Manual, a protective drawstring pouch for storage/carrying of the tool, and a USB-C to USB-A cable. I didn’t know what that was for at first, but it turns out that the manufacturer’s web site has downloadable firmware updates available. Once downloaded, the scanner can be connected to the PC on which contains the firmware’s installer, and the installation kicked off to update the scanner. As of the time of this writing, I learned that the firmware on the scanner is the SAME as the update which is on the web site. It’s good to know that the scanner ships with up-to-date firmware! The one thing that was a bit sub-optimal, however, was the User’s Manual included in the box. The information provided there was quite “bare bones”. The good news is that there is a MUCH more robust version of the manual which can be accessed via a link in the Amazon product ad, and which includes details about each of the menu items and other valuable information.I would heartily recommend the BM700 Pro to anyone who has a BMW, a MINI, or a Rolls Royce (since each of those makes are covered by the MB700. Owners of other vehicles can also benefit from the non-vehicle-specific functionality that this scanner provides; but for those three makes of vehicles the BM700 Pro is especially great!

This BMW scanner from Ancel is a must have for anyone with a BMW! For less than the cost of 2 scans at the dealership, you can own this scanner that will be sure to help diagnose issues so you can fix it yourself, or have a meaningful conversation with the service department.Likes:- Provides meaningful diagnostic information in a short amount of time.- Requires no apps or paid subscriptions. I have another OBD2 scanner that works via Bluetooth on my phone. It’s compatible with BMW and other brands, but I had to buy or subscribe to apps for it to work.- Nice, colour screen is easy to read in various lighting conditions. My video was shot on a sunny day for reference.- Graphs shown for certain readings like battery voltage during a start. I was getting concerned with the capabilities of my battery, which is one of the main reasons I ordered this unit.- Allows for battery registration when you replace a battery. No need to go to the dealership!- Allows resetting of service codes.- Reads VIN accurately.- Plug & play.- Well made housing with protective rubber.- Runs some essential OBD2 functions on other vehicles. I tested this on a 2007 BMW E93 (328i), 2008 BMW E92 (335i), 2019 Buick Encore, and 2023 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid.Dislikes:- It would be nice if the cable was a little longer. The trade-off would be that it would take up more space when storing it. However, as others mentioned, it would be nice to be able to have it reach to the center of the dash so someone in the passenger seat could monitor things while you control other things from the driver seat.Overall, this has been a great addition to my garage. It has helped me keep an eye on a dwindling battery, and allowed friends of mine to diagnose some issues and register a battery for their BMW. A highly recommended tool for the arsenal in your garage!

This code scanner is a great device to have around if you have a BMW, Mini, or Rolls Royce Vehicle, you just plug it in and it will auto detect your car, then proceed to check your car for any error codes. It’s super easy to use and the screen + physical buttons work really well together. Here’s what I think is important:1) This scanner works way better (and faster) than any Bluetooth dongle that I have used. No apps to download or Bluetooth connections to setup, just plug the scanner in and you are on your way.2) You get LIFETIME updates which means that this scanner will continue to work on newer cars as you upgrade your vehicles over time.3) Resetting service lights (and trouble code) is super-easy which is great for people like me to like to do some of our oil changes at home. So, you get a compact little scanner that can handle BMW-specific codes, is future proof, and allows you to reset those pesky service indicator lights that the Dealer wants you to think that only they can do for a great price. I’m good to recommend this scanner, it’s a major upgrade over my BT dongle and it’s very easy to use.

The ANCEL BM700 PRO Fit for BMW Scanner is a quality scanner that works well with the BMW SUV that I tested it with. It also worked on a couple of other non-BMW cars I tested it with, but without the extra BMW features. The unit is well made with lots of rubberized protection to save it from all the bumps it will take and to make it easy to hold without slipping out of your hands. The display is fairly easy to read in well-shaded areas; however, we got a lot of background reflections when sitting in bright daylight. The glossy finish on the screen reflects a lot of light. There is a lot of scrolling necessary due to the small screen as only seven lines of text are visible at a time. The buttons work well to navigate, and the screen updates quickly while navigating around.I could not find a way to create a PDF or export file of results to read on a computer. This is very inconvenient as I would prefer to read a comprehensive listing of all the values on a computer, then look at the scanner to read or reset certain codes. The scanner is very fast doing diagnostics and reading fault codes. One thing my buddy complained about is that the cable is too short. My buddy sitting in the passenger seat could not easily look at the scanner at the same time. We would have liked to place the scanner up on the centre console for both of us to see, especially while driving with real-time readouts. For our testing on the BMW, the scanner would not automatically read the VIN of our BMW X5 xDrive50e (2024) Plug-in Hybrid. Thus, I had to manually select the vehicle model. From the literature and Amazon product page, I thought this model would be supported for auto VIN detection. Iâm not sure that this affected the functionality of the scanner as it still provided lots of information and fault codes. Our BMW is fairly new and has had several electronic issues and trips to the dealer already. Another trip to the dealer is planned in the next week to address a recall, so having the results that the BM700 provided will be very helpful when talking to the dealer service. The scanner detected 17 fault codes! Unbelievable. None were severe enough to concern me, but still, thatâs a lot of fault codes for a new car. Interestingly, there are no warning indicators on the dash with all these faults codes unless they are buried in the menus somewhere. My 1998 Lexus GS400 that had several modifications over the years only had 7 fault codes that I expected to have.I like the speed at which the BM700 worked even as I worked through the various levels of menus and tests. It made going back and forth easy to do. However, because we had so many fault codes, I would have liked to be able to print them out to have on hand while talking to dealer service. As such, screen grabs will have to suffice.Overall, I like the ANCEL BM700 PRO scanner. It gave me what I was looking for to be able to see what is happening with the car and to verify what the dealer is doing to it over time. Iâll be checking the scanner again after the service call. I sure miss a file export though (one star off).

It connected super quickly, pulled all the codes, and even showed some hidden ones I had no clue about. The interface is user-friendlyâeven if youâre not a car expert, itâs easy to figure out. What really sold me was the battery registration feature. Just swapped my battery and used this scanner to register itâdone in minutes, no dealership visit or crazy fees. It also does full system diagnostics and VIN reading, and Iâve used a bunch of the reset functions (oil light, TPMS, etc.) with no issues. Plus, it works on MINI and Rolls-Royce too, which is cool if youâve got more than one car in the family.
