Great bike for the price, with minor “hiccups”
It is my first electric bike (ebike) and I love it! I have ridden mountain bikes on and off since my teens. I’ve been riding a fat tire (4 inch) mountain bike (not electric) for the last 5 months. Thought I’d try the ebike for that extra speed boost when I need it, to also go long distances without wearing myself out, so I can try some trails after I arrive at the destination. I still ride manually without electric to strengthen my legs, but in some situations, especially when riding in a city, it’s nice to have a jolt of speed to get me started in some situations. I mix it up a lot on my rides. Love the versatility! So the “hiccups” came in the form of the front axle being too short out of the box, so I took an axle from one of my other mountain bikes and put it on this ebike, now it works. I’d strongly suggest getting new tires and tubes, high quality ones. Guessing they put cheap ones on to keep the price low. I hit a few curbs kind of hard today when riding into a city and it caused a small leak in my back tire tube. I had to pull over every 500 meters to fill it up again with my mini pump. I’ll just buy some Slime tube sealant on Amazon. Only $12 for a bottle at the moment. Around 6000 people bought it, and 4 1/2 starts, so should be good product. Definitely stock up on that, for your car and other vehicles as well.I’ve seen regular mountain bikes for $600+ easy, so this E-MTB is an amazing deal. You can upgrade some things as time goes by, like the tires, tubes, brakes (to hydraulic?), etc. Instead of spending $1000 up front for another ebike. I like that way, and you get to learn about bike parts, how to install them, fix them, etc. I think it’s a good thing all around to buy cheaper, then upgrade it over time. To each their own. :)I’m new to the whole disc brake on bikes thing as well. I had to look up videos on YouTube in how to adjust the tension on the brakes since they come pretty loose out of the box (same on my fat tire bike). I’d strongly suggest doing that as well. You’ll need an Allen wrench to loosen the bolts, pull the part up a little and tighten the bolt again. Spin the tire to see if it has any friction. If not, you’re good to go. If friction, loosen the bolts, then give it a little slack, tighten it, spin wheel and keep adjusting as needed. You’ll see it in the video. Very simple.I was so used to powering my mountain bikes with my legs, so for the bike to jolt me forward (in pedal assist mode), it’s kind of funny at first and made me smile. 🙂 Just be mindful of pedal assist. You step on the pedal and do just half rotation and it jolts you forward. I’d start out with PAS 1 or 2 and get used to it. Hitting the brakes stop the PAS, of course. Practice hitting the brakes right after you get pulled forward. You might have to get those reflexes used to that so if you mistakenly step on the pedal to just move up a foot while waiting, you’ll want to hit the brakes fast. The mind needs repetition to learn something. Practice, practice, practice, for safety! DEFINITELY wear a helmet! I am also getting a dual sport helmet for face protection, along with elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards.People underestimate just how disgustingly painful it is to smack on the ground, even from a stand still, you’ll be in pain for days. Going anything about 5 mph and you’ll be SO happy with all that gear on Get used to it! You’ll thank me later. Trust me. :)The ebike does hit 28 mph (PAS 5, I’ve not used throttle) top speed on flat surface, while going 30+ down hills. I can pedal even at 26+ mph, but it’s pretty fast.I put reflective tape all over my bikes, front, side and back. Also on my helmet, back of my shoes, etc. for night rides, along with an extra headlight, so I’ve two on my ebike now, with a red back light, and a light on the back of my helmet (which is florescent yellow). I wear florescent yellow shirt on rides as well. It’s very important to visually STAND OUT on those streets! Do it! 🙂 SAFETY FIRST! Then you’ll feel good having fun! :)I look both ways, 2-3 times before going out, even on one-way streets. I listen for cars, not only look. In Virginia, we can ride bicycles on sidewalks, even class 3 ebikes, but I go slow there and always watch out for people walking. I only use sidewalks when no bike lane is available. I just don’t trust drivers who used their phones, or possible drunks swerving. I ride in the grass no problem, but make sure to GRIP those handlebars TIGHT when in grass, as you could hit a hole and dip fast. Be ready for that every moment you’re in grass.Check your local and STATE laws for ebikes before purchasing this ebike. I think this one is 750 watt (?) CONTINUOUS power, with reported 1200 PEAK power. Peak power is only temporary, so I believe it does not fall under the limitation on wattage in the law, if I’m not mistaken? Please look it up yourself or ask a lawyer if you want. I had to use Google A.I. and looked up some videos on YouTube to learn the difference between PEAK power and CONTINUOUS power. The nice thing about this ebike is you can just take the battery off and ride it manually in places that you might not know if they allow class 3 ebikes. I got the bike rack for the back and fenders (to stop mud spattering up when it’s wet) to store items, and I will take a backpack when I travel far, then put the battery in the bag when I am not sure if they allow class 3 ebikes on trails. Simple. :)There are spoke lights you can buy on Amazon! I will get them soon! That will look amazing at night! :)ALWAYS be mindful of your surroundings and give everyone the right of way! When I am on a road with no sidewalk or no bike lane and a car is coming behind me (I have rearview mirror to see), I pull over into the grass or the edge of someone’s driveway and let the car pass. Please ride very cautiously, you’ll be thankful you did! I even stop on sidewalks at the edge of roads, look back on my left to see if any cars are coming to make a right turn. I’ve had 3-4 cars come up and turn like that just today. So glad I ride cautiously!Oh, and I’d suggest getting a battery safe bag, just to store the battery in when sleeping or away from home. For now, I store my battery in a portable wood burning stove. 🙂

So much ebike for so little cost!
There’s a lot to like about this ebike. I was a bit skeptical about the power rating and max speed in the Amazon listing, but it exceeded my expectations. I’m 6’3″ and 200 lbs, so I’m used to low-end ebikes that have to work hard to carry me up hills and at full speed, but this ebike did great. On flat roads it reaches 28mph (and a bit more) with ease and it carried me up relatively steep hills with no problem. I only found one steep grade that gave it a little trouble, but a bit of pedaling got me up that hill in fine shape. Here’s some things I really liked:- it came in great shape with no broken or missing parts at all- assembly was pretty quick, but the included instructions were not as well written as they could have been, so it helps if you have experience assemblying bikes, but you’ll figure it out- the ride is smooth with solid steering- the seat is actually pretty comfortable- it is quiet even when under full load- it looks like a much more expensive bike than it is- the controls take a bit of getting used to compared to my other ebikes, but read the instructions and they’ll work well.- the cruise control feature is really great. Just apply the throttle for five seconds or more and the bike will continue at the speed set by the level of power you’re using until you apply the brakes, which will cut out the power.- the battery life seems to be about average, but you’ll get 20+ miles range on full throttle and more if you use pedal assist.- the battery charges well either attached to the bike or when removed (with a key lock in the battery housing)- the weight is about average for an ebike of this size.- the five power levels in the control determine the top speed that power will be applie for, either when on throttle or pedal assist, the range from about 9mph to 28mph.Things you might not like:- the kickstand is, for some reason, about an inch longer than it should be and it is not adjustable. The bike stood too upright with the kickstand and tended to want to fall over. I removed the kickstand rubber foot, hacksawed off about an inch of the metal stand, and things were fine.- the brakes are solid enough, but for a large guy like me on a bike this large, I night change the out for 180mm instead of the installed 160mm discs.- the variable front suspension fork is a nice addition and does smooth out the ride.Things that are neutral (for me anyway):- you have to remember that this is a less-than-$500 ebike. The welding joints are not the cleanest and the quality of the components like the tires, the pedals, the brakes and the derailleurs are perfectly adequate, but not the highest quality.- like all ebikes in this price range, the power assist or throttle are simply “switches” to turn on the power or not, these are not variable. When “on”, the power will continue until it reaches the max speed depending on the one of five power levels you set on the control. The only things I’ve done to modify/improve the bike are:- I bought some cushioned handlebar tape on Amazon to wrap around the handlebar grips because I like larger diameter grips and the cushioning is nice on longer rides.- I did add a gel cushion seat cover to make the seat even more comfortable, but this isn’t really needed.- I bought an adjustable kickstand to be better than my sawed-off version of their fixed kickstand.Overall, I’m very happy with this product and the rides I’ve had on it have been a pleasure!

Great value
So I bought this bike in March to commute back-and-forth to work 3.4 miles one way couldnât have asked for anything better. I now have right at 1400 miles on this bike and the only thing Iâve had to do was a break change. I use this bike almost daily even if itâs just for a leisurely ride today for instance, I just rode 41 miles with pedal assist on level three when I got home I still had two bars of battery left. The length of your battery is reduced greatly if youâre using just throttle and at higher speeds But on level three, youâre cruising at about 18.MphI bought the Apex with the top speed of 28

PLASTIC GEARS?
Honestly I didn’t have a problem with this bike at first until the motor just up and died on me after 400 miles and I opened it and found out they use plastic planetary gears in the motor, which after actually riding the bike much at all are bound to melt and crack (huge safety hazard btw) which happened to me, they cheaped out on the main actual part worth any money on this bike. Why spend 500$ on a bike when the motor breaks after a week. Waste of money I essentially have a frame now. Started with the tires which one I had the tube pop on my FIRST RIDE and then through the next 2 weeks they fell apart, I had to pump them daily. Got new tires, then the battery connector started falling off, derailleur doesn’t like to cycle one bit, and loves to get stuck. I could keep going, overall this bike is not worth the 500$ if your motor is guaranteed to break and everything else is trash. Including the frame which is also A HARD TAIL. Would not buy again. Better off building one than you can depend on
