    Great quality for the price
I am not going to lie; I was rather intimidated by some of the mixed reviews of this product. However, the product I received was in excellent condition. There are a few barely noticeable scratches, but in overall fantastic condition for the price. The pictures taken for the product were taken using a 25mm lens on a micro four thirds camera. Some of the close-in pictures were taken using a 10mm or a 26mm extension tube to show the detail of the condition. The keyboard was in excellent shape. The keys looked untouched. All the resting pads on the bottom of the keyboard looked brand new. The only noticeable wear on the keyboard were some slight abrasions on the underside of the keyboard (hairline scratches) and some dirt buildup in the battery bay and the power button circles. All of the wear is minimal and unnoticeable unless inspected very close. The mouse, on the other hand, contained quite a few hairline scratches along the entire plastic based top cover and some black specs embedded in the surface. Again, this is not remarkably noticeable unless you have a light shining on it. The black specs were simple to remove and came off with some scrubbing. As for the functionality; both products work as expected. The keyboard and mouse connect with no problem. All keyboard keys operate smoothly, no binding or abnormalities. The mouse also works perfectly fine. My only quibble with the mouse it that it does not glide as nice in comparison to other mice I own. However, that is just due to its construction. The mouse has two long strips of hard plastic on the bottom of the mouse used to make it glide on the mouse pad. These rails generate more friction on the mouse pad in comparison to the standard alternative to four low friction, small contact pads on the bottom of other mice. The mouse gestures for scrolling and other features works great and make up for its high friction underbelly in my opinion. Overall, a great purchase.

    Free and untethered
I wanted a detached keyboard for my MacBook Pro along with a Magic Mouse and I’m glad I did it. The keyboard works great, the mouse is ok. Was a bit scuffed up on the service and I had to polish it down a bit to allow some of the scrolling touch features to work.

    I’m loving these things!
OK… I’m totally in love with these things.Backstory:I purchased an old, refurbished iMac (mid-2009 vintage) several months ago to use with Scrivener and Ulysses for a writing project. Being an inveterate tinkerer, and ignoring the old adage about leaving well enough alone, the first thing I did was upgrade the memory to 8 GB (trivial upgrade) and then swap out the 7200 rpm disc drive for a 250 GB Critical SSD (not so trivial, but I learned a bit and discovered that ifixit dot com is your friend). Anyway, I have loved using this bad boy — it’s absolutely not a screamer, but for a system that came in for a couple hundred bucks, it’s been a huge amount of fun. The only thing I wasn’t entirely keen about was the wired keyboard and mouse. The USB wired aluminum keyboard and mouse combo that came with iMac took a bit of getting used to — I’m an old UNIX, Linux, DOS/Win hack and I’ve used IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads almost exclusively for many years. IBM has always made killer keyboards in my opinion. So… it took a bit to get used to the feel of the Apple keyboard and get some finger memory for what all those funny little Apple keys did. It took very little time to get comfortable with the system and I now love the feel of the keyboard. It’s easy to sit and write for a couple hours at a time. But… I got tired of the wires. It’s not a huge deal, but I also use a refurb macbook air + bluetooth Apple Magic Mouse and I love this combo. I wanted the same for the iMac.So… I bought a Kinivo BT 3.0 USB dongle (reviewed elsewhere) and used it to pair up the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse. The whole package — keyboard, mouse, and BT dongle run a bit under $100 in toto and, so far, I’ve loved it. I tend to like the “clean desk” method of working. I hate clutter. Being able to pick up and plunk the keyboard and mouse so that they are out of the way is fabulous. I can stick them in the top drawer of the desk and they are completely out of the way. When I need them, I just pull them out and fire up the iMac.I love this.Any problems or issues with these so far? Not really. It took me a bit to get used to the very small size of the keyboard, but I have much smaller hands than most and so that’s not been an issue. I do miss the keypad when I’m entering numbers into Excel or Banktivity, but not so much that I’d go back to umbilicating a keyboard to the computer. On a smooth hardwood desktop the keyboard is rock solid — it sits firmly and doesn’t move or jiggle when I type. The Apple Magic Mouse is the other reason that I love this combo — it took me a bit to get used to the “Apple way” of doing things with a mouse, but the learning curve was very short. What I was astounded by and immediately fell in love with was the mouse gestures that are available with this thing, particularly the scrolling. It is just so nice and easy to use.So… would I purchase these again if the need arose? Absolutely. And the fact is that although I use them with my iMac at home, I could easily pair them up with anything else that it bluetooth enabled and takes keyboard or mouse input.Would I recommend these to someone else? You bet. Admittedly, they are on the expensive side — even the refurbished ones — but the quality seems to be worth it. I’ll have a better idea about the longevity of these in a year or so, but having used them for the past month or two, I continue to be impressed and would recommend them without hesitation.

    Worst Product Ever
The mouse is the worst part of this product. It loses it’s connection ALL THE TIME. I’ve had this thing for a couple years now and don’t know why I still use it. It’s absolutely terrible. Multiple times a day the connection gets lost and it’s not even because the batteries get low. Oh no. I will change the batteries and just a few days after it starts up again with the lost connection. And I have to replace the batteries ALL THE TIME. Even if I turn off the mouse at the end of the day. It’s insanely frustrating. The ONLY part that I like about this mouse is the fact that you can slide it up and down similar to the Mac track pad. but that’s it. It’s really painful on my hand too. Not ergonomic at all – I think it’s severely worsened my carpel tunnel. And I’m 29. Keyboard is ok. I like the sleek looks and how thin it is – the keys aren’t clunky and it makes it easier to type. Sometimes it loses the connection but that’s rare. Not sure what the issue is with this stupid mouse. Worst purchase ever.
