Wow! So many options and possibilities
My goal in getting this router was to replace my years old WiFi 5 router and have more configuration options in my home. I was not interested in WiFi 7 and the prices that went with that equipment with these features.Having the option of multiple WLANs for IoT, guest and personal use is something I wanted to have access to. This was easy to setup and configure. We currently run about 50 clients. Having VPN Fusion options will allow many possibilities without individual device configuration. I am excited with the options given and never thought I would have all of this in a sub-$200 price.

    So far so good…
I have been a fan of ASUS products for a while now. and wanted to try their business equipment. I must say I am impressed. I like the ease and use of this router in a business environment. It gives the user an easy way to set up a wireless environment for all their uses. Whether it is setting a separate network for the company, the employees, or a hotspot for your customers, it is easily manageable and has a small footprint.

    Spotty Wi-Fi and ethernet connectivity
After having this router for roughly a year, I don’t say I would recommend this router to others, especially not a business where you need reliability. The only way to keep a reliable connection is to be hardwired to the ethernet ports. Even then, I see the connection go in and out throughout the day as well. I work for my ISP and have access to review my own ONT and can confirm there is no LoS. The ONT optical connection has great Light Levels (-12/-14), and no BIP errors. One of the most prominent issues I have run into is Wi-Fi signals connectivity. I connect with 5/5 bars within a few feet of the router, then the signal disconnects seconds later. This translates into being unable to complete speed tests, test connectivity issues, and required router rebooting. Another Wi-Fi issue I encounter is consistently telling me my password is wrong for the network, then connecting without an issue with the same password (that I did not make any changes to, it was pre-set in the devices) a few minutes later. Setting up the Wi-Fi itself was easy, and for the most part the functionality of the router is decent, but without adequate Ethernet and Wi-Fi performance, I can’t recommend the device.

    A total piece of junk
Edit about a month later:What a piece of junk. In the garbage now. It’s useless. Whether set up as a router or as an access point only, the signal weakens daily and it needs a reset every few days. I bought a refurb and wasted $100.TP-Link has some equivalent models on sale. They don’t provide the same level of features as this router, but I know from past experience they work and work and work. My pfsense router can do what I wanted to try this router out for and do it much better on a low cost multi-nic Chinese PC. I’ve never owned a router worse than this one in terms of reliability.Edit #2—————–I took it out of the garbage. It’s not going to be put into use. I’m waiting for a firmware update that claims to fix how unstable it is. After a reboot, the wifi signal is strong. It weakens daily. After a very few days, nothing can connect via wireless and it needs another reboot. This sounds like a firmware issue. I ordered a TP-Link AX3000 to replace it for now. It will serve as a high powered access point. My 2 other TP-Link AX1800 routers, also access points, are reliable work horses.original review—————–I’m really happy with this. I bought a return for 1/3 off. It looks and works like new.

The router is great. Very easy and familiar setup and web interface. Stable and works great.2.5Gb or 5Gb ports would be nice.Hopefully Asus can provide 10 years of firmware updates so it doesn’t become ewaste too quick.
