Customers find the laptop to be a powerful machine with solid build quality and good value for money. The screen receives positive feedback for its appearance, and while it performs better than many desktop systems, some customers report it malfunctioning after a month of use. The CPU temperature is a concern as it runs hot during gaming sessions, and while the processing speed is fast, some customers mention it feels stuttery at times. The setup process receives mixed reviews, with some finding it not intuitive.

    Impressive machine for the price!
I was lucky to snag this at a ridiculously reasonable price from Amazon. After a few weeks of stress testing, I can definitively say that this laptop is one of the best bargains you can find with a gaming laptop. Will it run every recent game you throw at it on full graphics settings? No, but it has run every graphically-demanding game I’ve thrown at it, on medium settings with no issues at all. I would recommend setting the display resolution down a notch – 1920×1200 looks flawless and easily runs games at 60fps with little to no drop on frames. The only real negative is the amount of heat this thing generates. Do yourself a favor and invest in a cooling pad/lap desk fan. Cooler Master makes one that is for sale on here, it’s not expensive and will help significantly with your temps during prolonged gaming sessions. It’s also incredibly easy to reduce the CPU voltage in the bios to further reduce temps. You might also upgrade the ram to 32GB which is super easy with YouTube vids to show you how. Overall, this thing is a beast, with one of the fastest mobile AMD processors you can get, even at the current price, and with a mobile 4070. This has effectively replaced my desktop setup. It’s hard to ask for more!

Solid gaming laptop for the cost
Edit: After some time, the laptop has continued to work well EXCEPT for the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip. It’s a MediaTek generic module. It began dropping out periodically, sometimes not working at all. I tried updates, uninstalling/reinstalling it, etc. It got to the point where it was dropping mid game, which was ESPECIALLY frustrating. To remedy this, I replaced the module with an AX210 bought off Amazon for ~$30. While the choice of a cheap, faulty module by ASUS was obnoxious, I have to give them credit that the laptops design made it easy to change out, much like the RAM I mentioned below. The module is located beneath the SSD, and only took 5 mins to replace once I got the casing open.—Setup was easy and bloatware was relatively light. As others have mentioned, it’s best to uninstall McAfee right away to rely on Windows Defender, then replace Armory Crate with G-Helper (same function, smaller load on the computer). I didn’t see much else for unnecessary addons. The 16GB RAM was a bit disappointing with no option to upgrade, but the blessing is that ASUS designs their laptops in a way that makes it EXTREMELY easy to upgrade RAM + SSD which is why I opted for their brand. Strongly recommend getting 32GB to make for an even better experience. It does make a big difference when gaming or multi tasking. The laptop handles games well and, unlike some gaming laptops, doesn’t sound like a jet taking off under load. It does run pretty warm, so don’t keep it on your lap. Get a lap desk to allow the laptop to breath and protect your legs.

    Great laptop!
Outstanding laptop with great build quality. Performs better than many desktop systems for graphic-intensive movies and gaming. I did add both SSD and system memory to further boost performance; it’s easy through the bottom access panels.

    Very solid laptop all around.
I’ve always been a bit of an Asus fan going back to the Core 2 days, and I’ve always liked their gaming laptops going back to the G74SX. I’m extremely pleased with these TUF rigs as well. They might have a little less flair than some of their other offerings such as the Strix series, but I don’t mind that much. I’m kind of take it or leave it when it comes to all the RGB stuff. What I really like about these TUF series rigs are that they do feel quite solid while offering good specs, but don’t cost an arm and a leg. It’s also very easy to do the usual HD and RAM upgrades. Socketed DIMMS do make me happy. The display is really good, surprisingly good, to be honest. Excellent brightness with great color and a wide viewing angle. The CPU is a beast, which is what you expect from the Ryzen chips. The iGPU is a little weak, but that what the dGPU is for. I like the Armory Crate software, but it is very bloaty. I quickly switched over to G-Helper. The battery performance is pretty darn good for general web wandering out video use if you dial things back and turn off the dGPU. And it isn’t horrible with light gaming through the Nvidia chip. It gets pretty toasty when running flat out, but that’s pretty standard for these thinner rigs. However, the system was never uncomfortable to use even with its guts running hot. The fans are loud, but not completely obnoxious. It has a decent selection of ports and the WiFi is great.Which brings me to the downsides of the laptop. The sound is… Well, it’s there. It’s not horrible, but it sure isn’t anything to write home about. Pretty much standard for laptops these days, but I still need to mention it.The one major letdown, and this is no fault of Asus, but a product of Nvidia’s habit of playing games with their GPU labeling. The mobile 4070 kind of sucks, if I’m being honest. It would probably be more appropriate to call it a 4060 rather than a 4070. My previous laptop ran a fully juiced 2070 Super. While the RT performance is considerably better on the 4070, the general performance over the older chip is kind of meh. It is better, of course, but it sure doesn’t feel 2 generations better. On the other hand, going with a rig running a 4080 involves a significant upward jump in price. Even moreso with a 4090 rig. If your primary focus is on gaming, I would strongly suggest going with a 4080 rig if you can afford the premium price bump that comes with it. Again, this is no fault of Asus’s. This issue falls entirely in Nvidia’s lap. If you remember the GTX 10 series and the crap they pulled with the GTX 1060 3GB and 6 GB models. The 3 GB model wasn’t just a downgrade in VRAM capacity, the GPU was cut down from the 6GB model. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t have known that without taking the time to compare their specifications line by line, or spent a good bit of time watching benchmark reviews. That’s not to say the 4070 mobile is garbage. It still is a very capable GPU. It just doesn’t feel like an Nvidia XX70 rated GPU. It also would have been nice if they had given it a few extra gigabytes of VRAM. At the time of writing this, it isn’t a deal breaker with the 8 gigs of GDDR6 of VRAM it does have. Unfortunately, these days 12+ gigs of VRAM has more or less become a minimum requirement, especially at 2K resolution and higher. Also would have been nice had they given it the extra memory bandwidth that used to come with XX70 GPUs instead of the narrow bandwidth of the XX50 and XX60 models. All that aside, this really is a great laptop for the price. Built like a tank and very solid feeling, without feeling or looking like a boat anchor. Keyboard with excellent key switches. Good battery life under general use. Fantastic display. Excellent and powerful processor. Solid selection of I/O ports. Pretty good cooling setup. And finally, a very good dGPU that could/should have been much better if Nvidia just would have let it breath a little easier with a bit more memory bandwidth and capacity. Definitely can recommend it if a RTX 4080 equipped rig is more than you can or want to spend on a mobile gaming rig.And now with the 50 series out there, they’ve done just the same, only with even more atrocious pricing. Same crappy 8 GBs, same crappy 128 bit bus. So if you want proper 2K performance, you might want to look at the 5070 Ti if it is within your price margin. That will be at least in the realm of XX70 performance, even if its still a bit gimped compared to what they used to be. Go team green. Yay. :-/

A great deal when on sale. Solid and reliable performer.
Daughter loves this. You can’t beat the features, ram ,GPU,and CPU for the price. Bought for daughter in Dec 2024. Still performing well after a semester and summer. battery life is good. It is heavier than the lightweight laptops. She loves the screen response when gaming, I mean doing her school work. She reports no problems. Converted her from apple laptops. AMD has upped their game on laptop CPU/GPU series.

    Good laptop
Killer lap top!The 4070 in this is equivalent to a desktop 4060, but it runs all the games I play at high frame rates even in the 2k format resolution it has!
