Unbelievably good
Normally I don’t write reviews, but I bought the Brother MFCL3720 printer and my experience has been great. We have a multi-OS home office setup. My wife uses Windows, I have a Linux desktop and Linux laptop, we have Android phones and when my son or daughter visit they have iPhones and Macs. We have tested the apple products yet, but I needed something that would work well with all of these.Delivery: exactly on time, delivered right to our front door, the box was clean and free of “crunches” or any evidence of mishandling.Unboxing: lots of good packing and shock-absorption in the box, the printer is a bit heavy for one person to lift, although the delivery woman managed it. We got it unpacked and just followed the 7/8 step “quick setup” sheet. We removed internal tape and packing material, re-installed the toner cartridges, put some paper in and plugged it in.Setup: super simple, the automatic connection to the network didn’t work for me (perhaps due to my eero wifi router) but manually selecting the network ssid and entering the password was easy and well-explained in the setup sheet. Once that was done it connected right away to the network.Windows: relatively easy, used the “add printer” capability accessed through the control panel; it took a while to download the driver and go through setup, but once completed it connected right away and printed no problem.Android: scanned the QR code from the printer LCD screen and downloaded the Brother mobile connect app from the Play Store. This went fine. I tried opening a photo within Google Photos and print. I did have to select the Brother printer but it produced a nice large color photo.Linux (laptop and desktop): this worked astonishingly well, either because of the capability of Linux, or of the Brother printer support, or both. I opened the Settings..Printers menu and the printer was already there! I didn’t have to install anything, it just found or downloaded the appropriate driver and worked to print immediately. Very impressive.Features: duplex (two sided) printing worked immediately as an option in the “print” dialog of applications. I have scanned a few pages using the very useful “VueScan” utility available from Hamrick and again it just immediately worked flawlessly, no fussing.The entire setup and testing took 25-30 minutes. Based on the first day of ownership at least, I give it my highest recommendation and look forward to years of use.

Loving this printer for my Linux system
Bought in March 2024. Writing review in December 2024.I regularly need color copy for my job that won’t run if it gets wet out at a job site. After reading a lot about printers on Linux forums, I decided to go with the Brother brand. This thing is a workhorse. I’ve only had 1 jam since I bought it and it was in the summer months when the paper may have been a bit humid. Other than that, no issues. It prints way faster than deskjet type printers and like I said doesn’t run if the page gets wet like deskjet printouts do. I use it with my self-built Linux system. Primary use is color printing. Also do color copying. Haven’t used the other features yet. Wifi works fine. Prints from phone or tablet (apple and android) as easily as from desktop PC. Pretty easy to set up on Linux for my needs.We are work-from-home here and my boss likes it so much that he also bought one for his house after being a deskjet user for years.Added bonus, we enjoy doing puzzles. Some puzzles do not come with the poster, so I take a photo and print it on the color printer. Comes out nice and crisp. Not as bright or well defined as the glossy artwork on the puzzle boxes since I’m using plain copier paper. I haven’t tried getting any kind of glossy paper to see if that makes a difference. I may have to source some glossy paper and try that out next.Works well with generic cartridges which is a plus. Read reviews on those before buying though, just in case any particular brand has issues. Get the XL version, more pages per cartridge.

Good friend for my home office
I used to work with HP and was always happy until it came to the toner replacement. That’s why I decided for Brother and now I’m completely happy. Brother does not force you to buy overpriced, expensive Toner and Brother even offers their tone for a decent price. The printer works well and fast, does good quality color prints and was easy to connect with my Apple equipment.

Eveverything you could need in an all-in-one.
Brother continues to make great all-in-one printer/scanners. Color laser so you don’t have to worry about your ink going dry. 2-sided printing. No “security” features to prevent you from using 3rd-party toners. Wonderful scanner (although this model doesn’t support 2-sided scanning). Nice wireless network connectivity (although I personally wish it also had wired network connectivity. It is wireless ONLY.)

A very good printer in every sense of the word, with wonderful colors. It is easy to use and fast. I use it at work and it has helped my children a lot in printing especially if the student needs to print coloring drawing papers. Its size is suitable for the room. I highly recommend it.

Prints fine, scans well but its an ink hog. Bought it to save on ink from an ink jet does not do that maybe even more expensive. Especially as it seems designed to cost you on the ink. Won’t work with most other brands of ink and the cartridges won’t even be close to empty but that cartridge has reached its alloted amount of printing so it will not work past a certain prescribed number of pages. Designed to cost a lot on the toner.
