Students create a variety of exciting mods for Minecraft, including a custom axe that shoots fireballs, a repulsion shield that throws enemies into the air, a custom sword, a custom pickaxe, a custom ore, and a custom creature (or mob). Enjoyable for kids.
Minecraft is less in fashion with this set of kids now, more roblox. But it does appear to be a nice format to learn coding in, some basics. It’s fun too for them as they get to see their ‘creations.’ Enjoyable.

Fun product. Early courses start with MCreator and the intermediate level introduced Java.The projects are creative, the explanation videos are well-produced, and the kids love them.Also fun for adults: try doing it alongside the kids and they will blow your mind on how fast they picked things you didn’t even realized were there!

Cheaper than Tynker
Purchased this for an 8 year old. The box only contains the code. Keep in mind that you will need to create a CodaKid account. Initial set-up took awhile to set up, and required installment of multiple programs, but was quick to get started after that. Comes with lots of easy to follow instructional videos and lessons.

What a great programming started for kids who likes Minecraft!
My daughter likes Roblox and my son LOVES playing Minecraft and I wanted to see how I can make them spend their time productively so decided to give CodaKid a try. I got Roblox course for my daughter and this Minecraft for my son. It was a bit uncomfortable for them to do “learning” instead of just “playing” at first, but after 2-3 times they really got soooooo into this. Unbelievable! Once my son realized what he can do with Minecraft from this course his interest change drastically (same was for my daughter with Roblox). He is learning Java while building his favorite sandbox games…. and also he brags to his friends that he’s a “real developer” :)I don’t blame him, kids really do things during this course like real developer – download, setup and use Eclipse and pinta, import resources and all other fun geeky stuff.This is by far the best self-paced course I’ve came across. We tried it all, tynker, kodable, etc… all of these were boring for them. CodaKid definitely got it figured out how to keep kids engaged! Really good balance of everything kids need – education, fun, humor and play. Could not wish for a better course.Oh, and by the way, their tech support is top-notch!

It is a good introduction, but…
So far, my son still hasn’t created any of it. It allows you to have access to a couple of series, which is fine with us judging of the price. The videos are pretty straightforward and the instructor explained them well. It is easy for kids to understand.However, we could only follow one video and create with the creation mod essential.Since we bought it last month, we had one major issue – we couldn’t use the Mod Creation 1 at all. We installed it multiple times. First it never created a folder on the laptop. Then we couldn’t open the project manager. We uploaded the zipped file according to the instruction, but we never received a proper solution or instruction that was helpful. For this single issue, we exchanged emails with the technical support more than 10 times, but it is still not going anywhere. Although they replied on time.Overall, I don’t recommend this product.

“Boring”
My kiddo (9) fights me over doing this program; it’s “boring”. He loved BitBox and is very confident in Scratch, but this style of videos and whatnot just didn’t click for my guy. He desperately wants to mod in Minecraft/Roblox, and I’m so disappointed that this program just isn’t it for him.
