This book arrived much quicker than I expected, especially considering how far it had to travel to get here (It arrived faster than other items I have previously ordered that shipped from much much closer). The books spine was damaged a bit when it got here, however, I kind of expected it to get beat up a bit considering how far it had to come. Also, I don’t blame them at all for this. It’s just one of those gambles you take because it goes from different shipping locations where it gets tossed around and sorted. I’m just happy they have such great shipping and I was able to save a ton of money on this school book by ordering through them. 🙂

thin book is very unique, top down approach with more emphasize on topper layer make it a good choice for programmer and/or engineers who deal with top layers. if you work in a telecom company or you are a developer in this field this is the right book for you.

Book description
I gave 4 star because the page numbers and questions at the end of each chapter are not the same as original version. As a result, I have to look at my friends book to make sure I am able to identify the right questions assigned by the instructor. The book is new and came in great condition as promised.

Great book, meh copy
The actual textbook is excellent and was very useful for the netwoking class I took. The printing on the book is kinda bad though. It has rough, somewhat hard to see black and white printing instead of the clean color print of other versions.

This book covers a very wide area, covering all the main aspects of computer networking – the different layers of the TCP/IP model, routing protocols and security among other things. Was required reading for one of my modules this year but is definitely a book I will be keeping to refer to in the future as it is very readable while containing a large amount of info.

Das Buch ist in einem verständlichen Englisch geschrieben. Der Autor geht davon aus, dass der Leser ein Anfänger auf dem Fachgebiet ist und geht dementsprechend langsam und strukturiert in seiner Erklärungsweise vor. Beispiele und Grafiken erleichtern das Verstehen.Am Ende jedes Kapitels gibt es ein paar Ãbungsaufgaben zur Vertiefung, leider bietet das Buch aber keine Lösungen dafür.Ich habe an der TU Kaiserslautern die Vorlersung “Kommunikationssysteme” gehört, das Buch war dabei das wichtigste Werk aus der Fachliteratur, auf dem auch ein GroÃteil der Vorlesung basierte. Das Buch war mir eine groÃe Hilfe die Klausur zu bestehen. Im ZUge der Klausurvorbereitung habe ich mich auch mit Kommilitonen unterhalten, die die deutsche Ausgabe dieses Werkes gekauft haben. Da viele der Fachbegriffe ins Deutsche übersetzt wurden, in der Klausur abe auf englisch abgefragt wurden, find ich es vorteilhaft die englische Ausgabe zu verwenden.
