A very Interesting read
I thought I knew it all about computer networking. I guess I was all wrong. This book made me realize just how much information there is to know about computers and the networking that we do. First, I learned more about what wireless technology really is. Many people think that it can only be technology without cords, but that is simply not the case. There are various types of wireless technology that we can use everyday. These are routers, adapters, repeaters, phones, microphones, computer peripherals, and other household items. They can have a cord or be cordless which was fun for me to learn! According to this book, WiFi is currently the most popular type of wireless technology being used in the world today. There are many advantages to this type of technology, according to the book. These advantages are: quick communication with people are the world, fast data transfers, easy to use and install, cost effective, and very durable. If you are looking to learn even more about this type of technology, this book is filled with details on how to use it and where to find it.

Easy to understand
Very insightful and helpful. Perfect for getting me where I need to be in this industry. I love all of the networking suggestions and advice.

Better for Readers with More Knowledge of Wireless Technology
Even though Iâm thoroughly immersed in wireless technology on a daily basis, I must admit that I know very little about how it actually works. Before reading this book, I hadnât even really thought of things like TV remotes as wireless technology. In hindsight, itâs obvious considering that they donât use wires, but itâs something that Iâve never given much thought to. I had also never thought about how computer networks control such seemingly-simple things as everyday communication. This book has made me look at the world in a new way, noticing how much of our society is dependent on wireless technology beyond the prominent examples of cell phones, tablets, and WiFi.I learned a lot from this book, and I learned still have a lot to learn and digest. The book is incredibly thorough, covering everything from how satellites work to staying safe while using wireless networks. The information on wireless network security, wireless communication, and how to secure your network are particularly useful for those who are unfamiliar with this technology. I personally found the future of wireless technology, the future of wireless networks, the key milestones in computer networking history, and the different applications for wireless technologies fascinating as well. However, this thoroughness is also the bookâs downfall. I think that thereâs a lot of information, particularly in the beginning, which is superfluous if you are just trying to learn enough to function in the modern world. Iâm not certain if the step-by-step explanation of how satellites work is necessary for anyone who is not trying to pursue computer science and technology seriously (whether as a hobby or as a career option). There is also a lot of technical jargon used that is not properly explained for the average reader. Because I only use wireless technology and have not learned much about how it works before this book, I had to re-read sections multiple times to make sure that I understood what was being said. Itâs not impossible to understand if you have little knowledge of this stuff, but you need to read it slowly and carefully if that is the case. A list of resources for further research on this topic would have also been helpful, but thatâs a personal preference on my part in regards to these sorts of guides. For those who are very new to wireless technology, I think that the most important sections are the bookâs introduction, the introduction to wireless technology, any section explaining WHAT something is, and the sections on security in regards to wireless networks, data, and wireless technology. The introduction to computer networking is especially important, considering thatâs what this book is titled after and itâs with that technology that people often run into problems. Otherwise, you might want to start with a more basic book to build a solid foundation before diving into this one. If you already have a basic understanding and want to know more about the nitty-gritty of how wireless technology works and how to interact with it, this book is definitely for you.

Poorly written
I’m pretty open to lots of writing styles. This book is so poorly written, I do not trust the information that the Author is providing. For example when comparing wireless household items (remote controls, baby monitors, etc) to wired options on page 19 it says “All these devices are the product of wireless technology and have turned out to be a perfect alternative the their wireless counterparts.” Wait, what? Wireless technology is an alternative to wireless technology? A simple proof read should have changed it to ‘wired counterparts’.In the section “How do satellites work?” on page 26 he starts off with “Communications satellites are regarded as “space mirrors” due to their function that primarily involves helping us to bounce [different types of] data across the globe. Communications satellites, like huge mirrors in space, bounce signals across the world , from one location to the other.” Two sentences back to back that say the same thing. This is where I stopped. These are just two examples in 26 pages. There were at least three other significant issues – grammar related and thoughts that didn’t flow together. I’m not an English teacher, just a businessman who wants reliable information.I’d recommend looking for another option.

Handy computer book
This was really useful. I’ve been trying to work from home and this helped me figure out a few technical difficulties I’ve been having

Great Buy
I have learned a lot from this book! I work from home now, and this book has helped make the transition from an office to a home office much easier. It’s easy to follow and understand.

Great book!
This was a super interesting book. Easy to read, lots of information, I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about networking.

Not sure who this is aimed at.
The book has a ton of facts rattled off one after the other but has jarringly inconsistent levels of depth on it’s subject matter. It used undefined acronyms one moment and then proceeded to tell me the speed of light as if to say “see, science”. Overall I would say as a CCNA and aspiring CCNP that this won’t help you with either. There isn’t a single diagram in 325 pages, Christ’s sake. Do you know how absolutely boring learning something like Computer Networking is without a diagram? I’d rather eat a book like that than read it. HOWEVER, the book does have a lot of raw info and to be fair I didn’t even make to the third chapter so I can’t in good conscious give this one star but there you have it friend. Do what you will with that.

Not really what I expected…probably should have considered previous reviews, but at least I learnt a little about satellites….

The book seems to be factually correct as a useful summary/overview, but is let down by very clumsy writing style.

Absoluter Schwachsinn.

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. I feel bad writing this, but I think itâs important to be frank and honest. Having read the section on possible military applications of sat coms, the writing style is bizarre and akin to lower high school level. I will be asking for a refund.
