Contixo F28A GPS Drone for Adults
I’ve been flying the Contixo F28A GPS Drone for several weeks, and it’s an impressive entry-level GPS quadcopter packed with features suited for adults and older kids. The drone is lightweight at just 247g, so I didn’t need to register it with the FAA. I love that the drone is foldable and compact, making it incredibly easy to transport.Performance-wise, the flight time averages about 23â26 minutes per charge, powered by a 7.4V 2000mAh battery. The GPS lock ensures accurate positioning, and features like Follow Me, Way Point, and Orbit Mode add a fun, hands-free flying experience. With GPS-assisted return-to-home, I’ve never had to worry about losing the drone on long-range flights. This is very entry level , good as a first drone for older kids, but not something you will be recording a cinema quality video with.

It’s not particularly good at anything
I’ve flown super high end camera quadcopters to 100+ mph racing quadcopters so I have a lot of experience in this realm. Granted those two are a bit off the spectrum, I also use another, more middle of the road $400 camera quadcopter for basic video stuff. They all have their place, every price point and use case. This one, on the other hand, doesn’t really fit into any place at all. It isn’t really good at any of the things that it is designed to do.To start, the camera is terrible. It’s very red-washed and has very little in the way of color reproduction. Everything is very, very red and not in the warm color tone kind of way, but it’s like the camera is broken. Everything’s some sort of pinkish variation of what it actually is in real life. It is just an incredibly bad camera that sacrifices everything that actually matters in order to put a bigger number in the resolution field of the marketing material.The software that runs the quadcopter needs serious tuning. Going from a stop to moving is fine, but going from moving to stopping is a wild experience. Instead of gracefully slowing down this thing yanks in the opposite direction rapidly and it makes it hard to fly. It also cannot tolerate light wind as most others do, it is as if it is incredibly over-tuned and overcorrects for everything. It’s very jittery and jarring overall.The smart phone side of the software is also similar in that it is super jank. You don’t connect to it via the software, you have to back out of it, connect to the quadcopter’s wifi hotspot, come back to the app and patiently wait for it to connect and pray it works the first time otherwise you will be restarting the process a few times over as I have to do every single time. If you’re lucky enough to get it connected you have to say another prayer that the video feed comes in with it because 50% of the time it does connect it has no video and you have to start the process again… again. It’s an endless loop.Once it does connect most of the important things are easy to get to: flight modes, flight settings, camera settings, etc. That is all fairly straightforward, but despite the app automatically formatting the SD card no videos or pictures actually show up on the SD card. I recorded a handful of videos to demonstrate the issues I was having with it and I have not been able to get a single one to any device, be it my phone or my computer. I tried it with a 32GB and 64GB SD card, both in good working order, to no avail. They show up on the device, but not on the card and that is the only way to transfer them.The quadcopter and transmitter are also super cheap. The plastic is terrible quality, creaky and feel horrible in the hand. The transmitter is extremely top heavy with the phone installed into it and it is incredibly uncomfortable to use. The only support you have for the bottom half of it is two little legs that fold out and they are constantly digging into your fingers with the weight of the phone pushing up from the weight of it pulling down at the top.I don’t know. It’s cool – if any of it worked even remotely “okay” it would be a viable option. A $150 camera quadcopter that isn’t just actual e-waste, but decent enough to mess around with it would be fine, but it’s just really bad at everything. I grabbed this with the sole intention of having a cheap one on hand for looking for lost model airplanes and not being out a ton of money should the quadcopter get lost, but it is such a pain to use I almost feel better off just spending the time I would trying to get this to work walking the field.This is a cheap toy at best and an outright scam at worst. I’ll give it two stars for coming in a nice case.

Excellent affordable drone
Fantastic picture quality on the camera in this price range. Beat my expectations.The 2k camera has a strong fisheye lense, and can take remote pictures or record 2k videos to an SD card – mobile phone videos are limited to 1080p. The gimbal on the drone works wonders, and keeps the picture so stable.There is just one battery included, with a supposed flight time of 26 minutes, and a charge time of 3 hours. The battery is built specifically for this drone. Its a consideration, when you travel. I was able to take 4 flights out of a battery charge, and still have decent capacity left.Downsides include: The remote is extremely noisy, beeping and playing melodies for every press of a button. As if that is not enough, the APP takes loud snapshot pictures, and announces in broken chinese-english any takeoffs and landings. Pressing the return home button is a true beeping fest. Very annoying, and not compatible with all types of settings.The included case is excellent, but the landing pad is useless, as the drone easily blows it away

Lots of good things here.
This is a decent beginner drone. Itâs packed with features for this price point. It offers a full HD camera that captures decent photos and video with an 85° field of view. GPS features like follow me, orbit and waypoint make flying intuitive while one key takeoff/ landing and auto hover simplify flying. Itâs foldable and comes with a carry case making it easy to travel with. It claims to have a 23 minute flight time on a single charge but I noticed it seemed to vary a lot at times as short as 15 minutes on a charge. I do think the light plastic build may lack some durability but for this price point itâs a good deal overall.
