    design vs power
So from first day after a bit playing with windows OS my new received laptop formated to fedora linux(22). I can say that after running mentioned linux all functional keys was up and worked well.In general I satisfied and happy with my new laptop(with big screen) which was chosen as replacement of my Veteran Vaio(i7, 16.4″ LCD screen)BUT even my 5 year old laptop design is much more outstanding. Moreover there is no informing leds like HDD busy state indication. When you are switching on the laptop there is no led which is highlighting the << power ON>>state. The keyboard and touchpad surrounding surface is like a rubber and easy collecting and show fingerprints and dust. The above listed points force me to give 4 stars instead of 5. Later I’ll update my observation based on usage expiriance,

A larger laptop that’s a great desktop replacement
Let’s address the elephant in the room (literally) first. This is one large laptop. I have a 17″ HP laptop that I purchased a few years ago so it was time for an upgrade. This one is bigger and, most importantly for some, much heavier. At 7.4 lbs it’s one sturdy machine but it’s hardly the laptop I would buy for portable use. To me it’s definitely a great replacement for a home desktop with the added benefit of being able to move it around the house. It’s a good looking device with a textured silvery gray cover that won’t show fingerprints (unlike the black, shiny cover on my HP). Size aside, my experience is all positive. The screen is a 17.3″ LED touch display. I’m so used to touch screens now that I love this feature. (I have a Dell Inspiron 11″ laptop/table convertible and I’ve gotten in the habit of using the touchscreen in PC mode and it’s second nature now. And, btw, the 11″ is the perfect size for portable use, with or without the tablet mode.) There’s a full size keyboard with a number keypad and a very large, very responsive touchpad. Bonus – the keyboard is backlit which I wouldn’t think was that important but it’s actually a very useful feature in low light. The laptop boots up very quickly btw. On slower computers I’ve gotten in the habit of putting them in sleep mode. With this one I have no issue powering it off to save the battery and then powering it up again as needed.A trade-off: there’s no dedicated graphics card. For me that’s not a problem but it might be for others depending on their usage. But the trade-off is less power consumption and a cooler running machine. The spec. calls for 6 hrs. on battery power. I’d say realistically it’s closer to 5 hrs. but I’d guess that probably depends on how it’s used and I really need to cycle through the battery a few more time to know for sure how long a charge will last.Additional comments: I do wish the DVD was blu-ray but that’s more of a want than a need. And, finally, it comes with Windows 8 but it’s eligible for a free Windows 10 upgrade. I usually like for an O/S to be out for a while before I upgrade to it but I so dislike Windows 8 that I’m planning on upgrading at first opportunity. My conclusion: If you are ok with the extra weight then this is a great laptop for you. And it’s definitely the right choice if you’re strictly a home user and unconcerned about portability.

    Perfect for my uses.
A large, solid laptop. The cover finish isa textured silver, and I really like the large, illuminated, full keyboard. Its a pleasure to work on.I think this computer is fast, for my purposes. I don’t play games or even stream much on this computer. My kids will use it for homework once school starts up again. I wouldn’t think of this as a computer to take to class, however, as it is large (17.3 inches, 7+ lbs.) and somewhat heavy. I’ve been impressed with the long battery life. The touch screen is an added bonus for me; I don’t necesarily use it often, but it is convienent when I do.My husband uses this every night and he is impressed with it. I won’t necessarily let the kids take this to classes with them, but it is a great computer for (mostly) home use. I LOVE the large screen, it is beautiful and makes the extra large size completely worth it!

i have had no problem with this laptop after I replaced the charger. The computer kept shutting off prior to the introduction of the new charger. After the new charger was acquired the computer works well.
