Impressed with the Compact DJI RS 3 Mini
I used a much larger gimbal years ago, so when I needed one again, I opted for the DJI RS 3 Mini—and I was blown away by its compact size. It’s almost the size of an A4 sheet, yet it effortlessly supports my Sony A7III with a 24-70mm lens. Balancing and operating it is incredibly practical, and controlling it is a breeze through both its screen and the app. The only minor issue is that sometimes I accidentally touch the joystick and screen while using it. Overall, it’s an impressive piece of equipment that packs great functionality into a small design.

Impressive Performance – Strong and Reliable Gimbal
I am very impressed with the DJI RS 3 Mini. It handles my Sony camera with ease—even with larger lenses. The motor is strong and smooth, delivering excellent stabilization across various setups. I would stick to prime lenses with this setup it will hold a zoom depending on size and how front-heavy it is. If you think you need more weight, upgrade to the Pro.It’s compact but doesn’t compromise on performance, and the native vertical shooting option is a nice bonus for content creation. This is a solid choice if you’re looking for a reliable, lightweight gimbal that still packs serious strength.

What are you waiting for? Buy already!
First gimbal… absolutely worth it! I am glad I started with the mini, obviously it’s a mini, so I wouldn’t recommend to many add-ons to the camera since is does have a tighter build, however, the build quality, the battery life, the functionality, are all phenomenal. The size is so compact it fits nicely in a camera book bag!

Works amazing well! But the 2kg payload weight limit isn’t the only important constraint…
I had no experience with stabilizers before I finally bought this after needing one for my last three projects. On the positive side, it worked exceedingly well, producing smooth video far beyond my ability compared with holding the camera without the stabilizer. Be aware, however, that using a stabilizer is physically demanding for any extended length of time because the force of the payload (camera) is at the end of the grip and at the ends of your extended arms, giving it leverage against your ability to hold it in front of your body. I found it best to hold my elbows against my body to relieve the stress on my shoulder muscles. I tried using a belt kit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZFJPY6), but found that it was of limited use because supporting the weight from my waist was only useful when standing still and not when circling the subject or following a moving subject. (see my review)Obviously, the camera’s center of gravity needs to be balanced/positioned in the very center of the gimbal in three dimensions: that’s why there are three servo motors attached to three arms that can rotate the camera quickly and smoothly to keep the video stable. The problem I encountered with a Nikon Z-7 was two-fold. One is that I needed to use a lens adapter to mount a previous-generation lens. This moves the lens forward, shifting the center of gravity forward. Also, I never noticed how off-center the lens mount is to the left of the body. This makes off-center shift sense when hand-held but not when using the stabilizer. The balancing arms are just barely long enough to get the Z-7 centered in three dimensions because it is slightly top-heavy and to the left of the body center. Notice in the photos how the adjustments are at the very ends of the arm travel. Originally, I was going to use a Nikon 24-70 zoom, but I ended up using a Nikon 17-35 zoom because it is shorter and lighter. Everything worked out, but just barely.Technically, I should have purchased the RS 3 Mini Pro, which has longer arms, among other features, but for my projects, I was unable to justify the difference in price. From an engineering perspective, this was actually successful because it met the requirements without excessive cost.

Complete junk. Roll motor issues 7 months later.
I wanted to love this gimbal, I really did. At first it worked out beautifully and with no issues. But 7 months have gone by and now the roll motor is randomly skipping and stuttering for no apparent reason. I’ve gone through every method of troubleshooting DJI has released for the device, and have literally exhausted all options. There’s either a problem with the servo, or the controller board itself.Just fyi, I have absolutely treated this gimbal like a baby. It’s never been outside my house, and when not in use, lives comfortably standing on a solid shelf. No drops, no bonks, no dust, no damage. Not so much as a scratch. Seriously, it looks like it just came out of the box, and has been used maybe 6 or 7 times thus far.I’m not going to even bother to get it repaired, as this has completely turned me off to DJI gimbals from here on out. There’s no way I’d trust one for a project after this. I bought a gimbal another from a competitor. SO ticked off at this…

Im using nikon z50 with standard kit lens and this gimbal works perfectly with it. Very stable, good motor strength, easy calibration process and easy to balance. The only thing i don’t like about the gimbal is the mount that you attach at the bottom of the camera. Nikon z50 has a display that flips and in order for you to put the mount, the little bit of plastic that keeps the mount straight goes under the screen of camera so you cant close the screen properly. It is a bit ajar. though you can buy a cheap camera mount compatible with the gimbal and this resolves the issue Otherwise very happy with the purchase. Its not light as you might think (because its mini) but definitely not heavy. I found the product a bit expensive but You get what you pay for as I bought another gimbal over this initially as it was half the price of dji gimbal but I returned it as not serving its purpose and it feels very flimsy. So I bought the dji rs3 mini and returned the other one. Im now very happy with my set-up.
