Directions are awful. The drilling template is in millimeters. Just guessed correctly that it was a 2 1/8 hole that you need to drill. The template also does not work for an 1 3/4 thick door but I am skilled at this so I centered it and that worked. Assembly was relatively strait forward from this point on. The we needed to program it. Terrible directions. If you don’t have a smart phone, forget it. Once I connected to the smart phone, it then deletes the 123456 programming code and you have to program a new programming code. At this point, you need the smart app. This is somewhat clunky. In the initial printed directions, it says user codes can be 4 to 9 digits. Wrong! They need to be at least 6 digits. After fussing with 4 digits entries that did not work, the lock shut down and I had to reset to the original program and start all over. You get 2 ways to do that in the printed material, the 1st one doesn’t work. You have to disassemble the lock and use the second one. At this point, I was 4 hours into the job. I went to youtube. Don’t! There is a AkaGear you tube on how to program user codes and more. It’s not correct. Lock locked up again. Repeat reset. Now 5 hours into the job. Use the Smart Life app to add codes, found a you tube installation that mentioned use 6 digit user codes, 4 digit don’t work. Finally got it programmed. This is probably the sixth or seventh digit lock I have installed. Never have I had any problems like this with the other ones.

Great lock for here money. Easy to install and use. App is user friendly. Only issue is if you want to make a copy of the key, it is not a standard size. So, I couldnât have one made at Loweâs or other hardware stores. However, a locksmith was able to make a copy by cutting a standard key down. Problem solved.

Great, sleek, modern lock!
The product came in a well-padded package with no damage to the lock. Installation was straightforward, and I very much appreciate that there are picture instructions and expanded, more specific instructions included for this.Once installed, I chose to set up the lock using the recommended app (which works out great as I had the “Smart Life” app for other smart home products I have already). The app had no problems at all connecting to the lock following the instructions provided. Adding profiles with passcodes and fingerprints was simple and worked right away. I love that there are also expiring passcode options that, once again, are available immediately after setting those up in the app. Of course, if all else fails, there are backup keys included with the lock.Another nice feature is the audio and visual feedback from the lock. In my pictures, I’ve included examples of the keypad lighting up and the red/green lights you will see if access is granted or denied. The voice will also tell you if a code is wrong, a fingerprint is unauthorized, or if the batteries are low. To test this out, I put in batteries I knew were already spent and the lock still worked (though understandably a bit more sluggish to move the deadbolt) and reminded me each time that the batteries were low and needed to be replaced. Also worth mentioning the batteries are easy to replace as the back panel both secures nicely and pops up and off nicely when needed.As for utilizing the smart lock, you don’t have to be on your network or connected to the lock directly once it is added to your app, which makes this great for managing the lock on the go, say you forget if you locked your door or not and can check that right from the app, or you need to let a cleaner or babysitter in (or whoever else) but don’t want to provide unlimited access to your home with a permanent code or key.Overall, I’m very impressed with the ease of installation, configuration/management, and the look of the lock. In my case, I am using the lock on my interior garage door, but the lock does have rubber seals on both sides of the lock and would probably do fine with some element exposure.

Akagear DS10pro Smart door luck
I liked the product at first. It worked well and met our expectations. However, after just a few months, it stopped working completely. I tried replacing the batteries and even used a power bank to recharge the emergency backup, but nothing helped. Unfortunately, Iâve had to go back to using the actual key. Disappointed, especially given the convenience it initially offered.Update:The company reached out to me and offered a replacement unit. I received it promptly, and so far, it has been working perfectly. I’m thoroughly impressedânot just with the product, but with the excellent customer service and how smoothly everything was handled. Based on the product quality, its practicality, and the outstanding support I received, Iâll purchase from this company again. Iâm happy to give them a 10/10!

I ordered in Feb 2025. Easy to install and use. It quit working already but the customer service was quick and efficient. After some simple troubleshooting, the company is sending a new unit out to me. I give it a 4 1/2 stars and I really like this particular lock.
