Simple to install
I bought this thermostat to replace an older version that was almost identical, but without the bottom moveable cover. The buttons on the old one were those soft, spongy feeling buttons and I had to press just right to get them to do anything. It was a nuisance but then the thermostat started malfunctioning and during the heating season, it would not turn off the furnace when it reached the set temperature. One morning I woke up during winter and felt uncomfortably warm. I went to check the thermostat and noticed the temperature in the house was 78, when the thermostat was set to 72. That’s when I knew it was time to replace it. This new version has buttons that respond instantly, and it was simple to replace. Very pleased with this purchase.

Easy Install Great Performance
We needed to replace an old White-Rodgers 1F86-244 non-programmable thermostat. I called White-Rodgers a division of Emerson and they said that even though the 1F86-344 is not the most current replacement, if I could find one, it would be a perfect 1:1 replacement for our older unit. I ordered on Saturday morning and the new unit arrived by 4pm the same day. It took my husband and I about 20 minutes to switch them out. It was super easy as the instructions were easy to follow.When we switched the unit on, it started working with no problem and our home was once again cool. The unit regulated perfectly.We highly recommend this unit. Thanks to CS Tech staff at White-Rodgers for their assistance as well.

Absolutely thrilled to find the exact one that stop working in the midst of a heat wave. The old one lost the digital display forcing the AC to run continuously. I ordered a new one at 3 pm and Amazon delivered it at 5:30 PM, the same day. Did I mention it was less than half price for another brand my husband picked up. Plus it was so difficult to install it would had cost us to hire someone to install it. No problem installing this Emerson White Rogers. Same model number and no Wi-fi or smart apps. Not programable, just the way we like things. Simple and straight forward. Thanks to our delivery man for getting this to our house quickly.

Replaces White-Rodgers 1F86-244
I purchased this thermostat to replace a White-Rodgers 1F86-244. That thermostat was in my home when I moved in 2 years ago so I don’t know how old it was but it was failing. The furnace and air conditioner would endlessly run without stopping at the set temperature. I had an HVAC person come and look at the system and he did not think that there was a problem with the furnace itself so I decided to start with replacing the cheapest possible thing being the thermostat. I did not want a smart thermostat and I did not want a programmable thermostat, I wanted something that was a direct replacement for what was there before figuring it would be easy for me to install myself. I have no experience with any type of electrical work and I was able to do this myself in about 30 minutes with a small flat head screwdriver and a very small Phillips screwdriver. As soon as I hooked everything up and turned the power back on and set the thermostat the air conditioner kicked on ran and then stopped at the desired temperature. Exactly what it’s made to do and exactly what my old one stop doing. One thing I would suggest if you’re not familiar with changing a thermostat is to take a picture with your cell phone of the wiring on the old one so that you have something to refer to. The instructions that it came with the new unit were not real helpful so I pulled up a YouTube video and familiarized myself with the wiring which couldn’t have been easier. I wish was that the hole in the unit where the wire comes through from the wall and the holes for the mounting screws would match the old unit so that I wouldn’t have to make new holes in my wall. I also don’t care for the door that covers the controls on the bottom, it’s annoying opening it every time I need to adjust something, which is a few times a day. The flimsy cover will eventually break off, which would honestly be better as it will be out of the way, but will look stupid. I have two thermostats in my home and I will be replacing the other one with one of these as well now that I see how simple this one was to do.
