I set out on a noble quest: upgrade our sad old can lights and bring a little “RGB joy” to our gaming area. Enter this 6-pack of Govee Smart Recessed Lightsâaka the easiest decision I made all week.First off, these 6-inch lights almost covered the gaping holes left by our ancient can lights. Not their fault thoughâthe previous fixtures were basically held up by dreams and oversized trim rings. These Govees are a much cleaner fit and look intentionally modern instead of “builder-grade 2003.”Set-up? Ridiculously easy. I had them paired and app-controlled in under two minutes. Iâve had frozen pizzas take longer. The Govee app makes it so simple to connect, set up, and dive into the wild world of lighting customization that I honestly started to feel a little too powerful.Lighting preferences in our house are a war zone: I like cooler whites that scream âproductivity,â while my wife prefers warm cozy tones that whisper ânap time.â With a single tap in the app, we can switch back and forthâmarriage saved, thanks Govee. Even better, we managed to match the tones with our other bulbs so nothing looks out of place or like it wandered in from another smart home system.Now the fun part: COLORS. You can set different zones, assign them all unique colors, or just hit one of the appâs presets and watch your ceiling turn into a low-key rave. Great for gaming, movie nights, or impressing friends who still think dimmer switches are fancy.One thing to note: these are retrofit lights. Its a govee product. that pretty much tells you its going to be good.
I own a ton of Govee products and love very single one of them. They are one of the top tier LED companies out there today IMO. The app is more advanced and developed than any other competitor and every product of theirs is compatible with the app. This makes connecting to the app and configuring the lights very easy. The actual hardware is impressive and has a very finished look to it. The brightness of the lights is second to none. The number of color options is almost limitless. Very impressive ease of install but ensure the lights are compatible with your building design. These are not screw in replacement for typical American can lights. They are designed to clip into a hole in the drywall without a can. You can remove the can and install them, I had to use spacers (1 dollar each) because my holes were a bit bigger than the light was designed for but it worked like a charm. ONce in stalled these are a dream to use. the light they make in the room is very soft and can be super bright if i want to light things up or colorful if I want a softer touch.
