    Great device!
This is what I needed. I like to listen to music while in the gym, but as smartphones got bigger, it became annoying to carry those to the gym. So I made a little investment in this device and it turned out better than I expected. Sound quality is great, and there are a lot of options to customize it: how warm it is, equalization, gain, stage, etc. Pretty impressive for such an economic device. The OS it’s just what the device needs, not too flamboyant, and it has a decent navigation speed. It is Bluetooth capable. It only charges with a cable, so that’s good to me. The gapless playback is great, ideal to listen to records like live records or such as Dark Side of The Moon, which have seamless playback from song to song. The battery duration is pretty decent. As I said before, I use it in the gym (1.40 hours sessions) and I charge it every 3 or 4 days.TL,DR: best audio device for the price.

    Hiby R1
I’ve only had it a couple of hours now, but I’m already very impressed with this unit. Easily the best non-ipod DAP I’ve ever had. My only nitpicks are that there isn’t a physical back button, and sometimes album art that I know has been properly tagged and shows up in Foobar2000 won’t show up on the Hiby R1. I’m going to investigate that one further, there might be a fix if I can figure out what the commonality is between the albums whose art shows up and the ones that don’t. It’s only a few of them, most of the album art shows up. One other nitpick, the unit doesn’t differentiate between albums of the same name. For example, all three American Football Albums are self-titled (referred to as LP1, LP2, and LP3 by fans). I have them in their own folders (American Football/(1999) American Football, American Football/(2016) American Football, etc), but the R1 groups all three albums as one. Should be an easy fix, either the folders or the tags will have to be retitled “American Football LP1” etc. Still a little annoying that the R1 didn’t differentiate different folders as different albums.Still, overall I am very happy with this purchase. Will update if I have any problems.

As good as the R3, in fact…. I like it more
I downgraded from the R3 to purchase additional audio equipment and was concerned about what I might get. The device is GREAT, I like it more than the R3 – which is fantastic. Music quality is great, usability is great for such a small device, build quality is great. 2Tb expanded storage is awesome, wifi is perfect to update the firmware. Top notch. Build quality of the R3 is better, but at half the cost the return of investment is huge.

The worst and tiny mp3 player ever!
This is the worst and tiny mp3 player that was packaged in a pretty box. This device has a lot of problems. It won’t except all the letters for the password field to connect to my home wifi. The player will not connect to my new laptop when using the USB/Type C cable. The device is cheap and is not worth the price or the weeks it took to come. I am sorry I purchased this item.

Excellent low cost ipod replacement with Bluetooth and clean, easy to use interface.
Fantastic sound quality using Bluetooth and wired connections, superb value for money. Easy to use and if you use in conjuction with the app you can also add album art to your mp3s. Highly recommended if youre looking for a budget friendly DAP, in my case as a device to store all my old mp3s from my ancient ipod.

No es malo, pero tal vez no sea muy amplia las opciones al escuchar música y además no se descargan las canciones de Tidal

    It NEEDS A MANUAL!
This unit has a lot of potential; it’s a nice little digital music player.Positives: No built in storage at all. This reduces the cost of the player, and lets you get exactly the size of Micro SD card you want.Several different methods of loading your music files into the unit. Easiest: Connect the USB cable to your computer and drag & drop files or folders into the Micro SD card window. You can also connect to your computer via WiFi and load your files that way. This is a bit more tedious, because you can’t grab whole folders, only single song files or groups.Built in WiFi is useful, but entering a password is very tedious because it uses the old cell phone method of entering letters and numbers abc, def, ghi, etc. This needs to be fixed.Built in Bluetooth pairs reasonably easily and works well with Bluetooth headphones or speakers. You can set up your own playlists, but this is also pretty tedious, because you can only select one song and add it to a new playlist or one already created; no way to select a group of songs or whole albums.- – – – -UPDATE: 3/16/2025 – I have found, completely by accident, how to add an entire album to a playlist: 1. Choose an album, or first choose an artist, and then an album. 2. Tap on the album title to open it and show the list of songs. 3. Tap and HOLD one of the song titles; you will now see selector “buttons” to the left of each song title, and commands across the top: SELECT ALL ADD DELETE CANCEL 4. Tap SELECT ALL; you will see the buttons for all the songs are highlighted. 5. Tap ADD, which will take you to the Playlist menu, where you can add the selected songs to an existing playlist or create a new one.As I discover other features, I will add them to this review.- – – – -My one BIG NEGATIVE: NO MANUAL. EVERYTHING I have figured out about this thing has been by trial and error. Sometimes it’s self explanatory, but some symbols/icons and menu options, I have no idea what they’re for.I had to do one firmware update, and the built in WiFi made it very easy, but this appears to mean that the R1’s system is still being worked on and updated, so I can see why there’s no paper manual, but… HIBY ought to provide an updatable and searchable online manual. There are several video tutorials available, but I don’t feel like sitting through a half hour video which may or may not give me the bit of information I’m looking for. The lack of a good, clear, indexed manual is my single biggest complaint about this device. So… I’m quite happy with the R1 so far, and apologies to HIBY for only 3 stars, but as soon as a searchable indexed manual which clearly outlines all the capabilities and features is made available, I will change this rating to 5 stars.

Producto de buena calidad, muy manejable por su tamaño, ofrece buen audio y se aprovecha mejor si usas unos audífonos IEM o unos Sony over ear.

I am almost 73 years old and I have experienced all forms of sound storage and reproduction – from 78 rpm shellacs to mp3 and beyond. Over the years I have used portable radios, portable cassette players, portable CD players and a range of digital audio players. I use streaming services only sporadically – instead I have built up a sizeable and eclectic library of audio-files – mostly mp3s – ranging from music to audiobooks. Although I am aware my hearing has deteriorated over the years (my HiFi days are well beyond me) I still enjoy listening to my collection – at home, while out and about and whilst travelling by plane, train or bus. With around 120.000 or more files, it’s always been a struggle to carry around much of my collection – as storage space is usually limited. Having done some homework, I decided to buy the Hiby R1 (blue). Using a couple of tf cards (256GB holds about 50.000 tracks – depending on the length of the tracks) I am able to take most of my sounds with me on longer trips. The R1 is really tiny and compact. I have to say that it has taken me a while to discover all of its functions – the enclosed user guide is pretty much useless but there is info available online and in the past couple of weeks I have grown closer to and very fond of my new mp3 player. I tend to listen via wired headphones or bluetooth and for me the sound quality is perfect – younger ears may have a different view (can ears have a view?). I am enjoying the new experience. If this changes, I will be sure to let you know.

Got this to play my large collection of FLAC files, will also be adding CDs over next few days. Simple to set up and use – sound quality is great . Wish I’d bought one ages ago to enjoy lossless hi-res music on the go without phone interruptions. Bought a 256GB SD Card to store music files on the device – I’m listening to the music with the excellent Truthear Nova IEMs. Higly recommend.
