Customers say

Customers find the thermostat works well with heat pumps, is easy to use and program, and offers great value for money. They appreciate its control capabilities, being able to monitor and control from anywhere through the phone app. Installation experiences are mixed, with some finding it easy while others say it’s finicky. Temperature control and Wi-Fi connectivity receive mixed feedback – while many can remotely control the temperature, some report connectivity issues. The screen life receives negative feedback, with several customers reporting that it suddenly died.

TRASHED HONEYWELL, BOUGHT GOOGLE NEST, PROBLEM SOLVED!
April 26, 2023 Update:After Oct 20, 2022 update at bottom, I purchased a Google Nest from Amazon on Oct 21, 2022. Google Nest is amazing and so disappointed with myself that I even tried to work with Honeywell / Resideo. In Jan 2023, I purchased two more Google Nests via Georgia Power, for a 2nd house and am VERY HAPPY with all three Google Nests. I have some indication that Honeywell / Resideo has now changed to using Google Nest APP and maybe even the electronics but can’t be sure. As a bonus, Google Nest provides real time updates of run time, Honeywell run time data was never available until two days later. The switching from Heat to AC every time my phone left the house, even though all forms of scheduling and Geo Fence were disabled, was the final straw.~~~~~~ Original Review followed by updates below ~~~~~~~~Although Honeywell claims compatibility with the Apple Home Kit App, Honeywell Tech support tells you to call Apple. Consequently, I uninstalled Apple HomeKit App as I did not believe the problems experienced were related to the Apple HomeKit App. The problems continued with only the Honeywell Home App installed. No matter what I did, temperature setbacks occur shortly after I leave home even though I had geofencing set for 300 miles. Consequently, I had to disable Geofence and resort to using the vacation mode. With the Vacation Mode, you have to set a start and end date which is adjusted by day and my need is to have it remain in “Vacation Mode” to some unknown date in the future as I have two residences.I called Honeywell Support twice prior to purchase and received conflicting information. After installing, I called at least three times reporting the above problems. I then requested a replacement from Amazon which had the same problems and called Tech Support for the fourth time. On July 28, I called Honeywell Tech Support for the 5th time and problem was supposed to be escalated with a return call on July 29. Since the return call did not happen, I am posting this review.I am an electrical process control engineer and do not need tech support if a product works. The firmware level has remained the same for the four months that I have had this product so Honeywell is not interested in resolution of known problems.Update (Aug 2, 2021):After a couple days in the “Vacation Mode” Honeywell TH6320WF2300 (T5) thermostat turned “Vacation Mode” off even though it was set to stay in Vacation Mode for the next two months. I will now have to disable “Schedule” which disables all scheduling functions including the previously disabled “Geofence”. This thermostat may appear to be great but you will soon learn that it is not controlling the temperature as expected. I will now set it manually to the temperature desired for summer and reset for winter when the time comes. Very poor 10% design!Update (Nov 3, 2021):Marginally works if you don’t use anything but the most basic features. However, when I launch v5.8 of the APP, it displays the temperature from the last time I launched. I then have to change to a different menu option and then return at which time it updates the room temp and outdoor temp. Shame on you Honeywell!Update (July 21, 2022):One thing I discovered is that the thermostat keeps track of run time for heat and cool independently by day, week, month or year. On my thermostat installed in 2021, I now have run time data available for part of 2021 and 2022. One limitation is that the newest data is two days old.On June 1, 2022, I received email that the APP icon and name of settings would change from Honeywell to Resideo starting June 22. My APP changed on June 28. Since that time, the thermostat won’t keep the manual settings and changes to settings contained in the Schedule which is disabled. This has made the thermostat GARBAGE unless fixed.I have called support four times between July 7 and July 21 with no help so far. The voice greetings assure customers that functionality would not change, just the name. However, it did change. As of July 21, 2022, whenever one opens the APP, it warns “PERFORMANCE ISSUES” but assures users they can still use the manual controls without the WiFi but does not disable the APP from making changes. The simple solution is for Resideo to restore the firmware and APP to that used prior to the change from Honeywell to Resideo on or after June 22, 2022.Update (Oct 20, 2022):Honeywell / Resideo auto firmware update broke my thermostat when icon changed fromHoneywell to Resideo as advised on June 22 but didn’t update until I returned home on June 28,2022. Every time I left home this summer it changed the set point even if I disabled Resideo Wi-Fi tracking of my iPhone. Now that I have changed from Cooling to Heating, thermostat is nowauto changing from Heating mode to Cooling when I leave home. This is a disaster astemperature can drop to 25 below zero and furnace will not heat when thermostat is in the“Cooling Mode”.This is unacceptable because I leave for months at a time. I configured the thermostat formanual changes only but there is nothing I can do to prevent the erratic and malicious firmwareinstalled without my consent and nothing I can do to return to previous firmware and /or disableall future firmware updates. There is no physical address on the Resideo web site. Resideo has now changed support tobanker’s hours. After 3.5 months on the current problem, On Oct 12, Resideo had the gall tosend me a survey as to how satisfied I am. Since completing, Resideo has not responded to myvery negative review of their sorry, sorry support. This is the second piece of equipment purchased from Amazon where vendor has destroyed mypurchase with a firmware update to force Amazon customers to purchase a replacement.Amazon management has my permission to refer to Resideo Case #09064201 and many callsbefore regarding this Honeywell / Resideo product.

    Simple replacement
I live in an apartment, and there was a honeywell thermostat here before that was not smart. I just replaced it with this one and configured the settings quickly. If the temperature sensor doesn’t line up its probably cause you hit 10k and not 20k. Try a few ways around. But for the most part this was straight forward. You do not need a professional if the wiring is already configured from the non smart version. It was a simple replace the head and go about your day. I did setup the c wire bc whoever installed it last didn’t bother to use it. But this unit requires it. If you don’t have a c wire, make sure to get the battery version.

T6 Took several tries to connect to the wi-fi
I had left it at the condo knowing the A/C service tech was coming and he had volunteered to install it. For whatever reason, he said we needed to have our wi-fi change to a 2.6 ghz connection. When I arrived at the condo, after several attempts, I was able to connect it with the Residio app. As for settings, I wasn’t all that clear what some of the choices were but I muddled through it assuming I’d figure it out later. My reason for buying it is the beach condo will be non-rented for 3 or 4 months and wanted to be able to raise the temp inside in case of a freeze or not having it set on 75 for days when it is not rented. I also wanted to limit the range of temps to keep guests from setting the thermostat below what the heat pump is capable of achieving.

    Works great!
I decided to opt out for a refurbished one instead of new one because of the price. I got lucky and I could tell only the packaging was a bit beat up, but the product itself was brand new! Easy to install and easy to control on the app.

I use this thermostat to control my hybrid system of Gas Furnace and Heatpump. I had added a Mitsubishi heatpump to my gas furnace and changed the prior T5 thermostat to this T6 model. The external temperature sensor option (sensor purchased separately but should be included), seamlessly allows me to set the changeover temperature to Gas operation which I set at -6C. I like the Honeywell/Resideo thermostats because they work well with excellent customer support.

Using it for my Nordic geothermal heatpump. Easy wiring setup – the easiest yet for all thermostat I’ve installed. LED touchscreen is so user-friendly! If compatible with your system – order it.

2020 updateAfter 3 years of unreliable, annoying service it has quit working entirely, I now have to run out to replace it before my pipes freeze. Save yourself the hassle and buy anything elseWon’t connect to cell phone “device telemetry error” support is useless2020 update: I did eventually get it working, no thanks to support. Never was able to also get it to work on my husband’s phone. It is glitchy, I’ve had to reinstall the app a dozen times, it is by far the worst app I have ever had the displeasure of using. It constantly loses connectivity stating wifi is unavailable. It has a feature where it is supposed to notify you if your house drops below a preset temperature, living in a northern climate this is a very important feature as pipes can freeze and if I’m not home my pets could die (it goes to -40c here), the feature only works if the thermostat is on. When my breaker blew the thermostat went offline and I didn’t get a notification, I understand that the thermostat can’t operate without power, but I would at least expect to get a notification from the app that the thermostat is offline. I recieved no such notification until I opened the app to turn up the temperature because I was cold. The main reason I bought this pos was for that very feature, to say I’m mad would be putting it mildly. I’m going to have to fork out another $200+ to buy an ecobee as I need a reliable thermostat.
