Timely service !!
Awesome !!This Thermostat is less price compared to other dealer prices and easy to install. This dealer is very responsive and reliable too. I bought this thermostat on Amazon and installed it by the licensed electrician. We also can install on our own but warranty doesnât cover. wiring is very easy and looks great. Itâs working great now . It has 10 years warranty too. It has all smart features like temperature control by an Application from any where outside the home. Iâm happy with the device and the dealer response.

Like the thermostat
It is a nice thermostat and wifi ready. It was very easy to set up and get it on my wifi system. The price is outraged, but when you have a lenox system, I found over the years everything is outrageously over priced, and in most cases you have no choice but to pay the price. The product was easily to swap out from the old with no extra drilling or holes to add. It is slim and looks good on the wall. Except for it being overpriced it has effectively kept the right temperature in the house and have not list the wifi signal. Bottom line: With a Lenox. You are going to have to pay the price. I do however recommend this thermostat if you have to replace the old one.

stay away
this is a terrible product. reading the screen is like trying to read a pill bottle when you are setting it up. Letters are really small and dim. Don’t let the picture fool you. it is NOT that bright. unfortunately, I had to buy it to match my furnace. Also, it will not sync with my wifi! STAY AWAY from this product!!

$1000 solution to $50 problem?
Purchased from and installed by dealer for $700 with furnace, have read it costs about $1000 to replace. Tech who installed it knew little about its functionality, a few days later had to have someone else come out to set brightness because display so dark you couldn’t even see it in darkened room (and of course, no usable owner manual comes with it and so you have to go on-line to get any info.)Dimensions of 4-5/8″ by 7-1/8″, looks and costs like a mini-iPad on your wall but with few of an iPad’s features. It has no battery backup, so I don’t know what happens to settings if you lose power.Combines both thermostat and humidifier control, I don’t know yet how well that works as have only used in A/C mode thus far. Has “motion sensitivity” so it’s supposed to light up if you wave your hand in front of the screen instead of just touching it; but in my experience, you have to move your hand to within about 1/4″ of the screen to activate it and so what is the point?Another “selling point” is that it can link to Accuweather on the internet so the thermostat knows what the outside air temperature is, which is important because… … well, I have no idea why that would be even remotely important. And lastly, apparently if the device is connected to the internet I can use a phone app to “adjust the temperature in my home from anywhere in the world”! While I suppose that could be important to some people, for me it would be about as important as having an electric fork (and an electric fork would pose no concerns about being hacked.)My overall assessment is that this thermostat is a very expensive, shiny new toy which looks good but seems to be mostly a hammer in search of a nail.

Do not buy this thermostat unless you have to; It is a connected thermostat, not a smart thermostat
After installing an Elite-series variable-speed Lennox HVAC system (which we so far are otherwise very happy about), we had to install this Lennox S40 Thermostat to support the proprietary communication protocols necessary for variable-stage operation. If we were still using a one- or two-stage unit, we would have gone with an Ecobee or Nest or other smart thermostat. This thermostat is marketed as being “smart”, but it is essentially a classic thermostat with a touch screen and Internet connectivity to allow for changing its settings from remote. Yes, it has a “heat/cool” mode, but that is hardly the state of the art. It doesn’t have any “learning” options, and it is most effectively used by manually changing settings when necessary. It does not increase convenience in operating your system aside from being able to make changes from remote. The only competitive advantage this high-priced thermostat has is that it allows you to use Lennox communicating hardware for variable-speed operation. Otherwise, it is miles behind thermostats like Nest and Ecobee and others. The Lennox S40 Thermostat has a number of “Schedule” options, which are basically presets for different seasons, as well as a “Schedule IQ” setting that sounds like it should do something intelligent but instead just estimates when you’re away (based on occupancy sensor data, which is probably incorrect due to issues with the proximity sensor, and mobile-phone data) and switch from a “Home” setting to an “Away” setting. When you are in one of these scheduling presets, you can manually change the temperature, but you’re met with a dialog box asking you how long to hold the new settings (which adds extra hassle to something that should be simple). Consequently, we have turned off all of the schedules and just manually set the temperature. So, this “smart” thermostat may as well be a dumb thermostat. Sure, it has a “heat/cool” mode, but that’s hardly the state of the art.As hinted above, the proximity sensor used to wake the screen is very poor. When it is working, it requires you to be within an inch of the screen to wake (at which point you can just tap the screen to wake). When it is not working, it keeps the display on forever until you manually disable the proximity sensor. So, we’ve turned the proximity sensor off and just tap the screen to wake. This lack of functionality in the proximity sensor makes me think that “Schedule IQ” is likely worthless unless you have the phone app. That said, some will be frustrated that the geofencing on the phone app is limited to 2 miles or greater. In other words, your “home” is a circle centered on your house with a 4-mile diameter. The choice to limit the home radius to 2 miles or greater might be an attempt to ensure that the HVAC starts heating up or cooling down when you are “on your way” back home, but if someone lives close enough to their workplace to walk, this won’t be very helpful. “Away” can be engaged manually too, but at that point you may as well just change the temperature manually. So, again, this “smart” thermostat has the functionality of a classic static thermostat. The thermostat has a large enough display that it can show an hourly forecast for the day, a daily forecast for the week, and infomation about different types of allergens. I doubt that anyone will be turning to their thermostat as their first source of weather information, but if you’re that type of person, then this thermostat can do that for you. The allergen information is incorporated into its fan logic. You can configure the fan to turn on continuously when certain allergens are forecasted to be high in your area. When combined with a good air filter, this can help clean your home air. You can also configure the thermostat to ensure that the fan is only for a minimum amount of time each hour (defaults to 20 minutes) which not only helps to clean the air but also helps maintain more uniform temperatures around the home as air is circulated. These fan options are nice but certainly not something that should make anyone seek out this thermostat over others. On the subject of the display, it is NOT very bright. When we set it to automatic brightness, it was almost impossible to read the screen. So, we’ve turned off the automatic brightness. But this also means that we cannot make use of the screen saver option because it would be too bright at night (we would see the light down the hallway). So, we have it set to manual brightness with the “power save” screensaver (that turns off after 25 seconds). Again, this might as well be a classic dumb thermostat.A previous version of the thermostat, the Lennox S30 (and other “iConnect” models before that), had communication interference issues and required some additional hardware to be installed. I understand that the S40 was brought out to correct those issues and generally have a longer lifetime than the S30. However, the S40 has not been available for long enough to test its long-term performance. Furthermore, it sounds like many important “smart” and connected features of the S30 are currently unavailable on the S40. For example, on the S30, you can login to the iConnect web page and control your thermostat. This is not currently possible on the S40. Likewise, those who have home automation systems that are compatible with the S30 (like Hubitat) may have to wait for someone to build new drivers to support the S40.Fortunately, the S40 does seem to pair with Alexa and Google Assistant pretty seamlessly (so far). I have seen others complain that the mobile app for the S40 crashes frequently, but my wife (iPhone) and me (Android) have not had any problems with their “Thermostat” app. You do have to sign up with a single e-mail address though, but multiple apps logged in simultaneously can participate in the “Smart Away” functionality (necessary to make the “Schedule IQ” work), and it seems smart enough to keep track of them separately (it tells you how many apps are participating at a time). So, it sounds like the S40 is a downgrade (in terms of features) from the S30, and hopefully that will be rectified over time. However, these Lennox iConnect devices are definitely a downgrade from other smart thermostats. There is nothing “smart” about them — they are just connected thermostats. They don’t learn. They don’t adapt. There is nothing dynamic about them. They have presets that have to be engaged manually (or triggered by geofencing). They work best if you turn off all of the schedules and set them manually. Our previous one-stage HVAC unit used a Nest Learning thermostat that was connected to our electricity company, and this allowed for them to do demand-response control of our thermostat — and they gave us a credit on our bill for it. In theory, the Lennox S40 supports demand-response, but my electricity provider cannot connect to them directly and instead requires the S40 to be connected via Alarm.com (which may not be a possibility depending on who your Alarm.com provider is, if you have one). We are hoping that having a variable-speed HVAC system will save us more money than the money we’re losing for having to leave the demand-response program. It’s just frustrating that this “smart” thermostat is so dumb.In summary, if you have a one- or two-stage system and want a smart thermostat, I would recommend going elsewhere. Only get the S40 if you absolutely need it for your Lennox communicating HVAC system. Other much cheaper thermostats provide the same features of the S40 plus more.
