High quality no-nonsense professional grade product
I have used several different types of devices in the past for my outdoor lighting control, and have ended up replacing them all with these. Other cheaper ones will last about 3-4 years before dying. These are made to last and are constructed to withstand the elements for years. These arenât cheap in terms of cost, however are a high quality product that you can be sure will work well for the long term. I highly recommend investing in these the first time.

Now my shop’s shopvac is easy to use for dust collection
While this unit is targeted for outdoor use, it is also very useful for enhancing the usefulness of indoor loads. This device can handle both resistive and inductive loads (e.g., lights as well as motors) up to 15A (or 1/2 HP motor).I have a shopvac that I use for dust collection in my shop. It was awkward to always have to move away from my workbench in order to turn it on and off when about to make a cut. This made it too tempting to skip the vac when I had only a short cut to make. Paring this switch with two Pico remote switches allowed me to place the remotes on two of my most-used torsion tables. As a result I now always turn the vac on even when making a single, short cut. This has worked so well that I will be acquiring a couple more units to use with two larger dust collection units. While this is not a review of the Pico remote, they pair up with this switch very easily.Contrary to the “About this item” writeup for this switch, I don’t believe it is necessary to use a Caseta Smart hub for this pairing. I have a very busy hub for other reasons, but this is a very simple Caseta Wireless relationship and I manually paired the controllers with the switch. My hub has no knowledge of these pairings, nor is there any real reason to use a hub for this purpose. The attached pics are 1) the switch mounted to my torsion box, 2) Pico control on the torsion box (one of which is for the switch), 3) the switch in shop context.— update —I have now added two more units to control the larger dust collectors in my other shop area. I was able to add two sets of Pico Controllers in strategic locations to make it much more convenient to control these collection devices. Note that the Pico switches can be mounted anywhere you have a flat surface. This is just too cool!

Integrates with ALL functionality of the Caséta Hub, but does not dim.
I started to order a Caséta lamp receptacle to use to turn my incandescent 300 lamp Christmas tree on and off per a schedule, but then saw the low amperage (less than an amp) rating and decided I needed something to support more current draw. I chose this item because it has support for up to a 15 amp load is Caséta compatible. It works as designed, though I will say follow the directions (which are only online and accessible via the QR code) explicitly. Adding this device to your system is easy by opening the app, pressing the LED until it fast blinks, and then following the directions presented in the app.I will caution that before the device was “saved” to my Caséta hub, I interrupted the sequence to change the name of my device. That was a mistake! I should have gone through the complete adding sequence and then gone back and altered the device name. That will make sense to you if you have programmed a number of Caséta devices, OR when you go through adding this one to your system. So my device was not completely saved due to my editing the name out of sequence before the final step and consequently I could not “schedule” the device in the app.The answer was to hold down the power LED on the device then click it three times and then repeat that sequence which put the device back into factory default mode where I could start the programming again and properly go through the three simple instructions presented by the app without interrupting the process with a name edit.So – easy peasy. Plug in the device; hold down the LED until you get the fast blinking; go to your app and choose the type of device you are adding and follow the instructions which are given to you in the Lutron App! I love my Caséta devices and the Lutron app!

Communication Distance Through Walls
Iâve had the Lutron Radio RA2 system for 13 years and it is awesome but no Smart Outdoor Switch available. I accidentally spotted this Caseta Outdoor switch while looking for plain remotely controlled On Off device. I needed to control my landscape lighting On Off times because over the years, nearby trees have grown so full that they make so much shade my photo voltaic device turns my 40+ landscape lights on about 2 hours early and they go off about two hours after sunrise even though I added a 4 ft extension to place the photo voltaic cell for my transformer high on the wall. So I bought this Caseta outdoor switch and the Caseta Smart Bridge and 2 Caseta repeaters but found out the Caseta system allows only one repeater, they must be within 60 ft of each other (I believe) since they each have a 30 ft range, their signals will intersect. I have Auxiliary repeaters for my Lutron Radio RA2 system and their 30 ft range connects them in my home 60 ft apart. Since my Caseta Smart Bridge is in my Network and electronics room on one end of my home as is the repeater 60 ft away on same end and the landscape lightning Transformer is on the opposite end outside wall at least 70 ft through walls. THE AUTOMATED SCENE SUNSET SUNRISE I SET UP IN THE LUTRON APP TO CONTROL THE SMART OUTDOOR SWITCH WORKS GREAT FOR ME THROUGH SEVERAL WALLS. I love my Lutron Radio RA2 system and functionality and this little Caseta system is great for the price with itâs functionality. Not nearly as robust as the RA2 system and now RA3 system and not nearly as expensive. I set up my Caseta system as a second home in Apple Home Kit. I have ceiling fans in 10 rooms so Iâm using Caseta fan switches and remotes with the outdoor plug as the only devices set up in âMy Caseta Homeâ. All my lighting, occupancy, keypads (table top & wall), Visor ControlRepeater for visor transmission of multiple scene options as you depart or return home plus hard wired integration with my GE security system so when itâs in an alarm condition I have certain interior lights full ON and blinking 13 external coach lights and 500âwatt flood lights.

Over the last 3 years this outdoor plug has had no issues -one of the most reliable smart units of the many brands I’ve owned. It has operates my waterfall pump (check the load capacity and keep within specifications) in summer and flood lights in the fall and winter, oh and Christmas lights too. Combined with the Caseta hub I’ve found the unit to be robust and well worth the investment.

They are easy to install with the Lutron App and hub and work seamlessly with HomeKit and Alexa. They aren’t cheap, but are dependable in extreme weather. Unlike wifi devices that often lose their connection these devices stay connected. I now have 4 of them.

Best smart home devices on the market IMO, mostly due to the fact that they âkeep it simple â and it just works.

Very different quality from the cheap alternatives. High end and excellent. I added them to the app in seconds.

This is more reliable than a Wifi switch. I have a dozen casita switches inside and this had no problem connecting from the back yard to the Casita RF network. I plan to take it in before the snow arrives, but so far, it is fine in the rain.
