A Reliable Storage Buddy for My Video Memories
I love capturing everyday moments with my phone. I’ve been struggling with phone storage for months. This SSD has been perfect for keeping all memories safe without worrying about storage space. What works great for me:Seamless Recording: Just plug it in and my iPhone 16 Pro automatically switches to recording ProRes 4K directly to the SSD. No apps or complicated settings. No more worrying about storage space mid-shoot. Now I can keep all my videos instead of constantly choosing what to erase.Truly silent operation: The built-in quiet fan keeps everything cool without any distracting noise, even during long recordingsReal-Time Monitoring: The LCD screen shows connections, performance insights and temperature – super helpful when shooting outdoors in summer.Fast Transfers: Moving files to my MacBook takes seconds when I want to edit or back them up, much faster than cloud transfers.Compact size fits in any bag or even my jacket pocketFor anyone who likes taking lots of videos and wants a simple way to expand their storage, this SSD does the job perfectly. It’s become my go-to solution for keeping all my video memories safe.

Nifty SSD! Performs well with some surprising features
These iPhone 15/16 SSDs are a dime a dozen on Amazon but this one surprised me (in a good way). First of all the display is more than a gimick, it actually provides very useful diagnostic information about the drive’s performance including throughput, temperature and most importantly power consumption. The iPhone will shut down any USB-C device that draws more than 4.5 watts so having the piece of mind to know that an important video shoot is staying under that power level is nice to have. I shot a bunch of ProRes video at 4k 60 and it stayed well under the maximum throughout with no dropped frames. It was helpful to be able to monitor the throughput as video was being written to the drive too.Couple of other neat things here: the drive has USB-C port on the bottom of the drive that can pass through power to the phone. But it’s also acts as a USB 2.0 hub suitable for a microphone receiver or other USB device. My DJI Mic receiver was able to work with it. Just keep an eye on the power consumption during recording as the receiver will draw more power through the USB bus. A second port would have been nice to be able to power the drive and attach additional peripherals. One important note is that if you choose to attach power after the drive is attached to the phone, it will reboot the drive. So don’t plug power in while recording! The drive will also attach via magsafe to the back of the phone if you’d prefer not to have it hanging out of the port. But the drive only works through the male USB-C connector on its top, so they include two angled female to male extension cables to connect it. One length fits the iPhone 15/16 Pro and the other the Pro Max variants. So what’s missing? Connecting the drive to a Mac or PC is a little awkward given how wide it is. It will consume every bit of space on the side of your computer making it impossible to plug in anything else. The two included cables don’t work with the PC as they are designed to cover the tight angle of the bottom facing USB port on the phone. So I would suggest picking up a USB-C female to male cable to provide a more practical PC solution for offloading footage.

Perfect external drive for iPhones, iPads and more
This is the perfect external storage for my iPhone, iPad and Mac! And I can also use it with an Android phone I use for testing code, as well as non-Mac computers. It really shines as an iPhone storage expansion because it sticks to the botto of your iPhone and stays there. (It can also be attached to MagSafe iPhones and connected to the iPhone via the included short cable.)My real-world copying of 30,000 JPEG files to the drive totaling 233GB took 15 minutes, which came out to a write speed of 15.5GB/min, or 258MBps = 2Gbps, over a 5Gbps USB-C hub. This is a respectable write speed. One caveat is that the drive can run hot when you use it continuously on a computer for more than 5 minutes; the built-in LCD screen shows, among other stats, the SSD’s temperature, and the highest I’ve seen is 49 Celsius. I use it mostly to transfer files between iPhones and iPads, and so far in this usage scenario the heat hasn’t been an issue. It is something to be aware of if you think you’ll be touching it.

No good for long recordings
Seems like a great idea. High speed data, with meters showing the actual speed and device temperature/power usage/etc. Down side is the fan is noisy and gets picked up by the iPhone microphones. In addition, I’m glad I tested it…my plan was to use the 2TB of data to record a 2 hour continuous performance using Apple ProRes. This device doesn’t seem to want to sustain its performance for more than 1 hour. after an hour it keeps dropping its write performance to 150….causing the recording to fail. Once this performance drop starts, it continues to happen. It would be fine if I only needed to record 15 minutes at a time, but with >1 hour it’s useless. It doesn’t even seem to matter if I’m writing HD-30 or 4K-60 for an hour…after an hour it craps out.

Increible
IncreÃble, permite trabajar en perfil logarÃtmico con iPhone 16 pro, pensé que 520 era poco pero trabaja perfecto en mi teléfono

Perfect for backing up Samsung mobile phones!
The only thing I don’t like about this unit is that is resets when power is applied or removed. Other than that, it is amazing. I really love the digital display which shows the drive’s status. It is very helpful. It should cost less, but there really isn’t too much competition with all of it’s features.
