We absolutely love this light. I got it for my granddaughter for her room and she is obsessed with it. It was very easy to install. Easy to operate. Itâs very fun for her to change it to the different colors. Good quality we LOVE it!

Iâm on the fence about this light. Nice size. Love the multiple light settings on the Android app & remote. Easy to connect to Bluetooth on my phone & Alexa. Like that you can leave settings where you want and turn everything off at wall switch. Cool idea putting speaker in it. However the speaker is the weak link. My husband & I are in the music business so I guess our standards are a little higher. But this speaker is not much better than a speaker on a good phone. It distorts at med volume. It was good for speaking like an audible book. But not for sitting back and listening. If youâre after a quality speaker I think Iâd look into a separate dedicated speaker w/ Bluetooth. Sorry. I only gave it 3 stars. For the speaker. I think it would be fun to play around with & great for a teenager though.

Good looking light with fun tricks
This is a really cool light. I like how flush to the ceiling it is, even if that caused a little bit of a problem for me. I, unfortunately, have textured ceilings, and not popcorn textured but the weird spiky texture. This made getting the plate flush to where I could attach the light difficult, but I eventually got it. Just keep this in mind if you have textured ceilings. That is not the fault of the light fixture though.I like having granular control of the brightness and being able to set the light around the perimeter is nice. We often watch movies in the room this is in and we will usually the turn the main light off and set the side light to something fun. I like having the ability to customize and make my own patterns in the app if I want.My one star removal is for the connection. Twice now I have gone to turn the light on and it has started blinking which indicates it needs to be paired to the app again. This is really annoying when it’s an inconvenient time, like first thing in the morning when I’m trying to let my dogs out. This has happened twice now and is my biggest complaint. I haven’t had an issue in a while but I feel like I’m just waiting for it to happen.

So the light itself is fine–yes, cheap plastic but nice and bright with great features. That is, if they worked.I have a Motorola Edge + 2022 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage and TONS of apps loaded because everyone wants you to install an app.I bought two of these and hooked up one of them. The hardware is great and physical installation was worry free (but you have to be comfortable with wiring an overhead fixture light. But the app was the problem. The light began strobing as soon as I connected and turned on the breaker. Well, the instructions said it was in pairing mode. I think that’s a bad choice, as some people will experience seizures. Luckily I am not susceptible to seizures.So the app starts working with the device, and it’s kind of cool! But then, the app freezes up. So I restart my phone and it seems to be working again. But if I tap on the main white light, it starts strobing again, even while the ceiling light shows up in the list of devices and I can change color and turn the light on and off.If the light is going to be connected but it doesn’t KNOW it is connected, it is useless to me.Tonight I will delete some of the apps on my phone and try again. Some apps have become fairly slow recently and other apps are perfectly good. Maybe I’ve clogged it up. But I immediately assumed the android app is at fault, which is the only control for this light and bad software will trip up this cool light.UPDATE: 12/1/2024So I tried deleting apps and nothing worked. I am returning the two I bought, but you might be able to avoid the problem entirely. Read on. The key is whether your router uses the same SSID for 2.4 and 5 GHz.I did buy another brand (LIFX) that actually had A HELP LINE which I didn’t need to use–it was late at night so I was determined to try everything! And it didn’t need the Tuya app! Hooray, so I bought them at least because of the user support line.Instead of Tuya they use the Google Home already installed on my Android phone. This conforms to the “Material” standard. But It also didn’t work…at all…at first. So I started suspecting my Orbi that puts out both 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi using the same SSID–maybe the faster 5 GHz signal was interfering with the 2.4 signal for some reason. I’ve had previous routers that didn’t give you the choice of both 2.4 and 5 using the same SSID. I disabled the 5 GHz mode, and then it worked pretty well.Now I’m a bit regretful that I returned these, but the instructions should say that even if your router puts out both signals, you should disable the 5 GHz signal. If you have two different SSIDs for the two speeds, you should be fine. However, the problem I ran into might be because my Orbi uses the same SSID for the two speeds (trying to do me a favor, I guess). I did not try these once more because I already got and opened & installed three of the new LIFX lights.So I’m changing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars for these Matane lights. I would have given it 5 stars if the instructions specified not to believe 2.4/5 GHz compatibility, and IF it worked by disabling the 5 GHz signal, allowing the 2.4 GHz signal to operate without interference.Note that I did not receive any compensation nor did the company respond to this. If these Matanes had some kind of help phone line, it MIGHT have ended differently with these lights happily hanging in my home. I don’t miss the strobing light, so I’m probably a little better off now.

Looks great. You can change the main light and the outer light to be different colours and different modes through app. Fun to change up.
