Works well.
We have used this for several different purposes around the home and have had little to no issues. It has worked as well as we had hoped.

Brand known for quality, Alexa setup a little tedious
Monster has been around a long time. Well known for their quality and usually overbuilt equipment. This plug looks fine. Feels hefty enough. Setup with Alexa was a little bit of a pain. I just set up an off brand smart plug and all I had to do was plug it in and say âAlexa discover new devicesâ and it was ready. This one requires me to download Monsterâs Smart app, set up an account, connect the plug, which took a couple attempts, then download the skill in the Alexa app, then Alexa finally discovered it and was able to control it. Nothing super difficult, just several steps. However, now that itâs up and running, everything is working smooth and it responds to my commands through Alexa every time.

Easy to set up and control via app
Nice product. It was easy to set up and instructions were simple. I have a Samsung S21 and downloaded the Monster Switch app (free) from the Google Play store. Then I plugged in the switch, held in the power button until the blue LED indicator was blinking, and connected to it with my phone using Bluetooth. It only took a few minutes. With the app, which works with Alexa and Google Assistant, you can set up different conditions/timers for the switch to power on and off automatically. I’m using this to power my son’s TV. It’s supposed to be turned off by 8:30 on school nights, and this nifty switch enables me to be certain it’s off without going into his room and potentially waking him up. Or I can just turn it off whenever he gets an extra salty attitude with me. 10/10

Works well with its own app, but not Alexa
This plug works as well as any others I have from better-known brands, in fact, it’s difficult to tell them apart. The only difference I see so far is that this one is priced less than half the others. There’s a caveat though. This works with its own app – Monster Smart App. The integration with Alexa has an issue and it did not work for me. An important aspect of smart products is the ecosystem they are compatible with – Alexa, Google, or Apple. This one is supposed to work with Alexa and Google. I use Alexa compatible devices, so using another app for this is not convenient at all. IF they fix this issue, this might be a 5 star.

Will Not Connect To WiFi
Seems like a nice idea, but the app has never been able to find the device. I deal with wireless devices all the time, so I am very familiar with connection protocols. Whether the problem is software or hardware is anybodys guess. I would definitly not recommend this device.

Works best with the Monster app
I already had the Monster app installed prior to receiving this indoor outlet controller that I already use on a schedule for a different outdoor outlet controller. Installation was pretty straight forward and setting the timer was easy in the app. If one wants they can also set this device’s schedule up via Google Home app. Was able to setup a table lamp for my son on a schedule for his bedtime, to help out him to sleep.Works like it should, no issues this time around.

Great when it works
Ok, after testing this thing for over a week, here are my thoughts. I had a video, but I had to remove it because it was too positive for this device.1) There is no wattage / ampage specs for this device. Their support was useless in answering this question.2) The product isn’t even made by Monster. I found out from their tech support that there is a whole other email / 3rd party that handles this device support.3) The device ONLY SUPPORTS 2.4 Ghz, which is stated in the description. Make sure that your use case / location supports this.4) Will NOT work on corporate networks that filter / block ports or protocols on the wireless controller. I cannot get it to work on our corporate network at all. However, when connected to my hotspot, it works great with the app on the phone.5) When it is not connected to the network, it will communicate slowly with the app via bluetooth.6) There is a great schedule function, though, that seemed to have worked off network. That is, once you configure the schedule for the outlet to turn on or off, it seemed to have worked when it was no longer connected to my hotspot. But, just today, I came into work, and the outlet did not trigger. So, it doesn’t seem to work off network.and the biggest issue:7) YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE WIRELESS CONFIGURATION ONCE THE DEVICE HAS BEEN CONFIGURED TO THE WIRELESS NETWORK DURING THE INITIAL SETUP! Which is just insane to me. You have to remove the device and redo the entire configuration on the new wifi AP. Why is this an issue?Suppose you have the device configured and running, but just want to switch to a new network to test it out. You should just be able to do it from the app easily by selecting a scanned ssid from a list and trying to connect to it. I mean, the app does communicate with the device via Bluetooth anyways, so I don’t know why it needs to be on the same network. It just makes the entire process frustrating. So, my final thoughts are this device if connected to a network that isn’t blocking / filtering between clients, then this should work well. But, as is, it sucks, and you also don’t know how safe the device is with certain applications like a space heater that draws a lot of watts and amps.Update:After using this for some time, I do have to retract point 6). The schedule does work off network. So, once I configured a daily schedule for this to turn on and off, even though it no longer is connected to any network, it still works as scheduled. I’ve updated my review and stars accordingly. It has been powering a 1500 watt space heater now, and it seems to be handling it fine. There’s no browning or heating of the smart plug. I’m not sure if this is within its electrical specs, but at least now it’s usable. Still no network access though, so I can’t connect to it from home to disable the schedule or turn it on before schedule.

Saved Hard Wiring in a New Switch
My application is for power control to a hot water recirculating pump. The pump is near the hot water heater in the garage. The distance is about 50″ and there are two walls and two floors in between. The switch works flawlessly with that challenge. It’s amazing that such a small device can incorporate WiFi to accomplish the same thing as wires, switches and relays used to do.I do not use Alexa in my house…so I can’t speak for that option. The app is easy to work with…very intuitive and uncluttered.
