Customers say

Customers find the router works well with Comcast and appreciate its ease of setup, with the UI being easy to navigate and edit. Moreover, the device delivers reliable speeds with no lagging or buffering, and provides excellent coverage, with one customer noting it reaches every corner of their home. Additionally, they consider it worth the price. However, connectivity and reliability receive mixed feedback – while some report strong connections, others experience internet connectivity issues, and while some find it solid, others report poor quality.

    2017: All Around Excellence!
So many reviews and ratings on here all over the place, had me very skeptical reading for hours and looking at different versions/brands and options etc. Very overwhelming but being most familiar with Netgear, the features, and this looking the best in my opinion of all the Modem/Routers to choose from online within $200… I took the chance knowing in general most liked their Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Modem/Router. Mine came new as expected, looks amazing, set up easy(set up with provider seemless, had to call them, very quick and easy), and the coverage is the best range and most solid connection I’ve ever had! Router settings online are a breeze and no matter whether using our Samsung S7 phones for any HD wifi content, or Samsung 4K Netflix/YouTube, or PS4 Pro gaming… Including any combination of all at once with our consumer higher tier 10mb per sec internet, no issues. It’s fast, noticeably quick, zero lag – not even once with many hours online gaming so far into it(PC & PS4 Pro), and I’m as happy as one could be. To top it off, I’m now saving $12mo with my Internet Provider since I have my own which is another main factor. The often and very annoying lags, interuptions, disconnects, and poor loading times are all gone as if they never existed. I had a great gaming-class Netgear Router before which had no issues but to pair with the Provider Modem was very awful. While it was a newer modem and in general wasn’t too shabby, all the provider can do is keep replacing and replacing with the same garbage but it is what it is – And this AC1900 is the best experience and reliability I’ve ever had. Glad I took the risk and came out a winner on this!

I gave it 5 stars because I still like Netgear products but over the years the tech support …
This is going to be a long read so be prepared. I gave it 5 stars because I still like Netgear products but over the years the tech support out source in India is pretty sad. When I bought this on the 16th, it arrived a day after, I opened the package and found that there was no ethernet cable nor manual which I found kind of odd. Then after unboxing and hooking it up, I found out that the default password for the device is changed and I had to call up Netgear asking them. They said all of there newly products come with a cable and a manual.I said ok. Then I ordered a brand new 5TB Seagate for a brand new C7000, I plugged it in to the USB port on the back of the C7000 and the routerand it did not see it at all, in fact there was no power LED on at all, then I tried a 64Gig thumb drive and a 128Gig thumb driver and those didn’t work.I called up and talked to the infamous hard to understand India so called expert tech and said well the device may not be supported, I replied, well, I am getting no power to any of my devices. No power indicator LED. Told me to return the device for a replacement, so as of now Amazon and there wonderful support on returns and working to get things right I am very good about that and give them a 5 star for that.I do not blame Amazon for this, more so the where it came from.To think both are cutting edge seems to me that they should work together,On a bright side, this thing is a beast. 24×8 and a Spectrum customer with a 100/5 package, it packs a punch, even in peak hours a see well above 100mbits.I have had several streams, gaming, downloads etc all running, and no lag . It is a amazing device. To all thats replacing this, be sure to give your cable provider the CMC MAC address. A side note.I’ll be sure to update this review as soon as I get my new one. Thanks for reading.Update, got my new device, and all USB devices are working, including the 5TB HD, so I now think that old one was tampered with. After a 3rd time now, turns out the old firmware was faulty. I was having issues like others on here until Netgear sent me a new one with the new firmware. No I am not having those problems.Amazon needs to be aware that, or at least I think, that their shipping out these units with old firmware. So I advise you to contact Netgear, they can’t upgrade the firmware, nor the ISP, depending on their policy. 🙂

Lighting Fast Wireless Speeds, Plenty of Channels Available For Your Needs
The main reason why I upgraded to this modem/router combination is because of the higher bandwidth throughput on this hardware vs. my old stuff. Recently I upgraded to a higher data tier through my ISP (Comcast Cable) to the 200+mbps plan. Even though my old router and cable modem setup was awesome and supported DOCSIS 3.0, I was limited in data throughput capabilities compared to the new data connection I was going to be receiving. A quick lookup on my old equipment verified what the limitations were. As a result, for some time I was operating at an actual much lower bandwidth with my new plan simply because my old equipment was bottle necking. This had to change! And it changed DRASTICALLY after I upgraded to this device. In order to really optimize the speed from this device you would need to have a data plan in excess of 120mbps. Otherwise there is no point in spending this kind of money. However, with that in mind, there is a secondary concern you should be aware of: the speed of your wireless device. If you plan to get insane wireless speeds, your wireless solution must be able to support better wireless standards such as the “n” standard and the “ac” standard. Additionally, you can enable both the 5ghz spectrum AND the 2.5ghz spectrum on this modem simultaneously. Each spectrum also operates on it’s own SSID. So I added the “5ghz” tag to the end of the name of my 5ghz spectrum SSID to differentiate it from the standard 2.5ghz spectrum SSID. This allows me to identify that network so I can connect supported devices to that one, which will allow those devices to run at a faster wireless speed. If you have devices that support both spectrums, both SSIDs will show up on their network configuration tool so that’s why it’s important to label each spectrum uniquely to differentiate it. Some devices support 5ghz, some do not, but take advantage of it if you can with this modem. As an example, I have a Windows Surface Book laptop that supports higher wireless speeds and the 5ghz broadcast spectrum. With my new data plan I can download at close to 8MB/s. Downloading 10GB worth of data can take me less than 20 minutes at times. Love it. And that’s not even on a wired connection!!Both functions in a single device: finally! A modem and router combination. Even though most cable modems are dumb pass through boxes, the router side of things is a necessary, but additional, expense and can take up more room on a shelf/table/desk where your primary internet is hooked up. That’s why condensing both into one device is a great idea from an expense point of view and a physical space requirement one. This modem features a decent set of advanced networking functions. I am not a huge fan of the network interface tools on this box, but they are okay. Nothing to write home about. Typically don’t have to do any port forwarding as much anymore or setting up static LAN IP’s, etc. etc. because I’m not much into that side of things these days. I let DHCP handle it, for the most part, and I don’t need to run DMZ to make any of my gaming boxes function properly in multiplayer on my LAN. Although, you CAN set up DMZ if you want the best performance. This is also a good modem for people who just want plug-and-play. You don’t even need to mess with the onboard controls if you can’t be bothered with that type of stuff, because there is a remote activation feature available through many cable providers including my ISP (Comcast) that takes care of activation on the device. It’s pretty easy and painless. You can even do it wirelessly on your laptop, no need to plug into the device! Simply open up a browser page once the device is full powered on and booted up, connect to the default network that it spits out, and load up a webpage. You will then be prompted to go through the activation process. However, I still recommend calling your ISP if you have any difficulties. Sometimes there may be some back-end work that they will have to do in order to get your signal to come through. Personally, I did not have to call, but you may.Overall, I am incredibly happy with this new modem. It has a nice look to it, there is less clutter because I am having to use less devices to accomplish the same goal AND it’s a super fast solution for those higher tier data plans. With 24 wireless channels available for use, I doubt you will ever need more if you plan to use this for residential purposes only. Could not ask for anything more!
