Great Little Capture Card â Easy Setup and Smooth Performance
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked up this Newhope USB 3.0 Capture Card mainly to record gameplay from my Switch and Quest 3, and itâs been working really well so far. Setup was plug-and-playâliterally just connected the HDMI input, plugged the USB-C into my laptop, and OBS recognized it instantly. No drivers or headaches, which was a relief. The video quality is sharp and smooth. Iâve tested both 1080p at 60fps and 1440p at 30fps, and the capture looks clean with no lag or weird frame drops. Audio sync has been solid too. Itâs also compact enough that it doesnât take up much space on my desk or in my gear bag.One feature I didnât expect to appreciate so much is the 100W Power Delivery. Being able to charge my laptop while using the capture card is actually super convenient during longer streaming sessions. If youâre looking for a simple, affordable capture solution that just works, this one is definitely worth checking out. Itâs been reliable for streaming and recording, and the build quality feels solid for the price.

Not perfect but works
Quick, easy, and fast to setup. I currently own 2, there’s an issue with audio crackling while capturing if using USB 3. Using both at the same time is like flipping a coin on either working. One could work, both could work, or none could work. No clue what causes this as Windows sees both capture cards as completely different items. Does not require software, which is a plus, just acts like a webcam and microphone, which can both easily be setup with well-known apps, such as OBS, VoiceMeeter, and Windows Camera. Works fine on non-powered USD hubs as well. Have not been able to get past 1920x1080p 60 FPS, but don’t need to. Able to watch streaming services through the capture card, which helps with online movie nights with friends.

Clever design with smooth output video to your recording computer.
Tried other USB capture cards, this one seems to work a lot better without the other brands occasional moving lines. Also if your pulling video out of an iPad or iPhone, video out uses a lot of power. Having a charging port keeps them from dying halfway through a long recording. Having the power go in coaxialy instead of from the side makes the setup far less clumsy.

Works as advertised.
Works fine with my Sony a7sii, a1, and a Panasonic FZ2500. Needed a micro HDMI to HDMI cable for the a7sii and the Panasonic.

Really bad quality
I was excited for the adapter to arrive so I could play my PS5 on my Quest 3. And it was a huge disappointment. First, their manual is terrible, it doesnât explain anything about how to make it work. They only mention some software called OSB or OBS, which I donât care about. Then, on the Quest 3, I was only able to play after searching a lot on ChatGPT and Google, until I found out I needed to download an app called HDMI Link by Meta.Anyway, after getting everything set up, it was trash. Terrible color quality. You can only enable 50 FPS, not 60. It does run in 1080p, which I already expected, but I thought it would actually do 60 FPS â and it doesnât. The screen stutters and lags so much itâs impossible to play any game. So, besides the low quality, you canât even play properly. And on top of that, even if you try to enlarge the screen, you canât resize it however you want. For example, when I watch a movie inside a player on my Quest, I can make the screen huge, almost any size I want. With Meta HDMI Link, you canât do that. Ok, thatâs not the adapterâs fault, but itâs still a downside. So yeah, forget it if youâre thinking of using it to play on the Quest. Iâm returning it and will look for another one that at least doesnât lag.

This came well shipped, and well packaged.Plugging in my PlayStation VitaTV worked like a charm in OBS, bypassing the HDCP block (PSTV won’t work on a regular capture card or splitter). Setup was clear and very easy to follow (plug and play). I have not noticed any sort of image delay/frame skipping.Settings left as default on OBS. Might actually be a good 8+yr old Razer Ripsaw v1 replacement.

Amazing device and excellent value for money! My goal was to record some videos straight from my Nikon z8 camera view finder with a Samsung s24 phone. After searching a bit a wanted to give a try to this little device and works amazingly well. The quality of the video is super and there are no lags. You can use as well if you want to preview the images in real time on a bigger display however you won’t have accurate color so you may need a professional monitor if you are serious about photography and video. You need an app to view and record. I am using the USB Camera Viewer on android.I strongly recommend it!
