Great Irrigation Control Unit
This is my third B-Hyve unit. The products are easy to install and have a good application, making it easy to set up and control the unit. I have two units being used for sprinkler control. I particularly like how the units adjust for the weather. If it rains, they will not water. If it is very hot and dry, they will water more. This third unit I am using to add water to the pool. With the dry heat of summer, water needs to be added to the pool 2-3 times per week. Itâs working well and itâs priced reasonably considering that it connects with your home Wi-Fi so that you can connect and check on your irrigation from anywhere.

I’ve had this unit for just over a month, so far it’s been excellent. I originally got it because it was the same price as getting a wireless rain sensor for my original system.Set up was straightforward but had a decent amount of steps with programming in the type of lawn you had.The weather delay system has been working great for me and is using around six times less water than my old system. The app has worked well for me and I think it’s pretty intuitive.All that said there are a couple concerning things. The screw terminals feel a bit loose like they aren’t soldered down right however they haven’t caused any issues yet. As well as the replacement power supply being around 2/3 is powerful as my original which may not work great with older less efficient solenoids

works as expected, but app could be better
First, never buy the used units. I ordered used to save some money but a brick came in the mail; it would not pair with my phone nor could I reset it at all, it was completely inoperable. So obviously Amazon is not testing these in any way before reselling them. I replaced it with a new unit (which wasted a week of my time.) However the new unit setup was easy and programming was also easy.There are a few issues in the app. First the on/off toggle switches on programs are buggy. The button visibly toggles with finger taps but then sporadically immediately flips back to the first state which is extremely frustrating. An application should never presume to revert my direct input to it without a message explaining why. I discovered the switches work more reliably with tiny swipes instead of taps which is difficult to do with buttons are are smaller than a finger pad.Second issue is that the precipitation forecast in the app is completely unreliable. I compare it to my local weather app and they frequently disagree. One says sunny while the other says rainy, and so far my weather app seems to be more accurate. The Hyve app does NOT show the source of the data and the source cannot be changed. The app could be better by allowing an option for a more accurate forecast source.Third issue is that the smart watering is unusable at least by me. I entered all my information about my system and soil and the programs it made were much longer than I would ever want and it would break my water budget quick. Hyve wanted to run two cycles per each zone upwards of 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Previously I never ran any of my zones more than 8 or 10 minutes each.

Easy install and easy to use
Easy to install. I was expecting the app to walk you thru it but it was only a little paper pamphlet inside the box. That was really all you needed if you’ve ever replaced anything electrical. No need to cut the electrics off. Just unplug and plug it back in when ready.Extremely light. I thought it was flimsy at first. Make is easy to install on the wall though as you don’t need anything load bearing. Just make sure the sprinkler cords will reach the new inputs.App very easy to install and label zones. I havent tried the smart programing yet. I use the manual programing and it works fine.Very convenient to control the system on your phone rather than the panel.

I was debating whether to go with the more expensive Rachio system or the budget Orbit system. There were enough positive reviews to go with the Orbit system, as I only need to program 5 zones. Two zones require multiple watering times during the peak of the summer; other than that, I only need to water the lawn 2-3 times a week, depending on municipality water restrictions. It was as simple as removing the old controller, wire the power and zones, downloading the app and programing the watering schedule. Straight forward for the average tech. Hopefully, it will last longer than 2 years! That was the shortest review duration that I read up on. The unit itself is a standard electronic board; it only needs to direct an electrical current to the solenoids; everything else runs through the app. There were a few glitches when setting up the watering schedule, but that was easily fixed by closing and reopening it. It looks as though the test run times can vary from previous app versions (current ver. 3.0.37). I’m very satisfied with the control unit. It was long overdue for me to move into a wifi unit!

Funcionó muy bien para regar 3 jardines con una bomba centrÃfuga. El programador, configurado previamente con la app b-hyve en el celular, activa la bomba a través de sus terminales pump y com que dan los 24 voltios que activan la bobina de un relay o contactor que conecta la corriente de 127 voltios a la bomba. Hay que tener cuidado con los dÃas que supuestamente va a llover porque el programador no se activa, según para ahorrar agua, entonces en la aplicación hay que deshabilitar está función o activar el riego manualmente si no llueve.
