The installation was very easy. It replaced the current deadbolt without any adjustments. Plug the exterior part to the interior section and then screw both sections together. Two of the screws are inside the battery case.Once installed, download the app for your phone (iOS or Android) and finish the setup. Log into the app by creating a new account and then follow the instructions for connecting the app to the lock. You set up a master pin and pins for anyone you want to be able to enter the door, from one time use to as long as you want it. I set up a thumbprint for opening and locking the door, as well as a pin.The Philips Wi-Fi deadbolt lock is a great product. It takes 8 AA batteries that are required to run the lock. You should be able to use rechargeable batteries, I used lithium batteries.This kit does work with Google Home and Alexa. I am not aware of it working with Apple’s variant.This smart lock really delivers on convenience and flexibility. Setup took me about 20 ish minutes — I used the preexisting striker panel on the door frame already, and everything from installation to app pairing went smoothly. It has built-in WiFi, so there’s no need for an extra hub, and the app makes it super simple to lock and unlock remotely.There are a variety of ways you can unlock it—fingerprint, app, passcode, voice, or even a traditional key. The fingerprint reader is surprisingly fast and reliable (Philips claims 0.3 seconds or so), which is great when your hands are full, or you’re in a rush. The auto-lock feature kicks in after the set time (you set the time in the app), so you never have to second guess if the door was left unlocked.The ability to create access codes for guests or delivery people is a bonus, and I like that I can keep track of who came and went with the activity log. Voice commands through Alexa works smoothly, too, which comes in handy when I’m not near the door.Excellent value for the money. I am satisfied with the performance and function of the system.
