    Surprisingly good
I kinda bought this on a lark to see if it could improve — and make safer — driving our 2009 Camry, especially for my kids who are learning how to drive.I also bought a license plate mount for the backup camera, and I bought a different kind of mount for the head unit so that I could hook it into my AC vent (getting it to stick to my dashboard was not going to work longer term with a car that sits outside in the Texas summers).Long story short, it connected to my phone almost immediately, and it works very well with Android Auto. And the backup camera is also very good (my wife was impressed with the image and said it is better then the built in backup camera in her Honda CRV).So, overall, very happy to rate it 5 stars. Assuming it holds up, worth the money spent and time it took to setup and install. Here are some specific pros and cons and considerations:Pros:* It does what it says it will do and it does it at a very reasonable price.* Very bright, crisp images on the screen.Cons (these are all minor):* Touch screen seems an iota slow. Not terrible, just about 1/5th of a second slower than my phone, for comparison.* Built in speakers are OK, but not great and certainly not built for high vol.* Cord for the backup camera was about a foot short for how I wanted to route it, but it was long enough to route it under my front seat (which was my second choice).* Instruction manual gets a B-. Far better than most instructions manuals coming out of China, but could be better.Considerations:* Backup camera installation is not hard if you know what you are doing and are comfortable pulling wires through cars, etc. There are some good videos on YouTube. Watch them carefully and think through how you are going to do it before you start. If you have the correct tools and are comfortable doing this kind or work, should take you about an hour at most.* You likely will need to drill a small hole for the backup camera wire. Be thoughtful about how to do that (there may be two walls you have to punch through), and use grommets or tape to make sure the sharp edges where you drill the hole don’t eventually slice through the wire’s insulation from the vibration of driving.* Also have about 10 small ‘zip ties’ for securing the wires so they don’t get pinched some day.* As noted above, I do recommend a different way to mount the head unit than what comes with the system, and a different camera mount.* Lastly, you are going to have some cables running to the unit, so have a plan to manage them so they are not in your way while you drive and become a hazard or look unseemly.

Exactly what I needed to upgrade my 2004 Dodge Dakota.
Thus far I am extremely happy with the purchase. Very simple setup (I have not tried to install the backup camera yet.) Connection to my phone was quick, the build and appearance is sturdy. Screen is responsive and bright. FM transmission works extremely well. The system came with a couple of different mounting options which was nice. I am looking forward into digging into putting videos on a sd card to test out that functionality as well but my day to day use with Waze and Audible are exactly what I was needing with my older vehicle. Very pleased and would recommend especially for the price point.I did also have to purchase a new dual cigarette lighter adapter because the unit does not have the option for also keeping my phone charged but that was a small issue that really probably only applies to those with much older vehicles.

An Excellent Car Play unit at a Great Price
This product does everything I need at a fraction of the cost of other Car Play units. I especially like the unique bubble wrap protection it shipped in, the extremely well written and well illustrated installation guide and the included rear camera with wiring. Certain other models charge extra for the camera. The unit also comes with 2 adapters (suction and adhesive) to ensure the best fit. I was able to set mine up (excluding the rear camera which I’ll do later) in about 15 minutes. The screen is bright and the icons and navigation maps are easy to see. This is an A+ product.

    Real user review
We have a 2005 Honda CRV and I wanted to add a backup camera, but I was also interested in Android Auto. I usually just mount my phone to the dash and use that for music and maps (I already added bluetooth a few years ago to the car). But with the added screen, I needed something to replace the functionality of the phone that would no longer be on the dash. And Android auto fits the bill for sure (but that’s not really what this review is about). Honestly, the price was a factor, but the reviews were more what swayed me. I would have paid double this for a unit that works really well and will last considering how much effort it is to install and run wires. For this review, I’ll start with the cons, because I think they’re more important and outweigh the pros heavily:CONS- The backup camera is AWFUL. A-W-F-U-L. If any kind of sun hits it, all you get is silhouettes. And despite the listing here, it does not do well at night. It’s just a black screen with some things barely lit up by the reverse lights. Also, not sure how this is 170 degrees. The thing has no peripherals. I’m always scared I’m going to hit someone. Also, the guidelines for the camera on the screen CAN be edited, but they do not save and just revert back to the default, which for me make them totally useless. Honestly, I think that this camera makes my car less safe than more, which was kind of the entire point.- The screen quality is kind of awful too. At night it’s a little easier to see, but generally, google maps on Android auto is so hard to tell the difference between roads and everything else. In direct sun, forget about it. You will lose your way with directions. I tried night mode and changing all of the display settings and could not get the image to be any clearer. Also the display has this weird blue/green tinge that makes it hard to see certain colors. There’s a “hue” setting in the display settings but the slider does not seem to do anything.- Instructions were basically non-existent. They tell you to wire the camera to the positive on your reverse lights and then send you out into the world.PROS- Surprisingly, given the other issues, the touchscreen is pretty responsive and works well. There’s maybe a tiny but of lag, but it’s not really noticeable. I was expecting something less snappy.- The length on the cable for the backup camera was thankfully long enough- I like that they give you 4 options to get audio to your stereo. Originally buying this, I thought I’d use bluetooth. But I found that the aux out was actually more convenient and had better quality (also bluetooth from phone to unit, then unit to car seemed a little much).Overall, if I could go back and do it again I’d pay more money for something with a better camera (though how you’re supposed to know, I have no idea. the reviews I read here said that it was great, but obviously something fishy is going on there).
