Why after pressing the power button to turn off G2 Max, it will turn on again after a few minutes?
Please turn off the “Power Saving Mode” by following the steps : Settings → Device Preferences → Energy → Power Saving Mode.
Why does the sound become quieter or disappear?
Please following the steps : Settings → Set up remote buttons → Volume control → Google TV. Press the volume button on the remote control again.

Please following the steps : Settings → Device Preferences → Display & Sound→ HDMI CEC→ Volume Control “off”.
How to connect G2 Max to HDMI-ARC devices?
You can connect the HDMI cable from one end to the ARC HDMI input on your device, and the other end to the G2 Max tv box. If you want to connect the amplifier via TV, please refer the pdf manual for details.
How to access audio passthrough on G2 Max?
Settings → Devices Preferences → Display & Sound → Advanced sound settings → Select formats → Passthrough, and remember to change the audio settings in the playback apps.

Unexpected outstanding Android TV Device
This android TV product is far superior to Google’s Google TV device. It comes with a real multifunctional remote and it streams flawlessly.However there’s one thing about it I don’t like, it just turns off if there’s no remote interaction for a relatively long period of time, and I haven’t figured out how to turn off what is probably the power saving option.

The RockTek G2 is a solid streaming TV box; it offers almost everything a demanding user could want.Mine arrived already updated to Android 14 (June 2025).However, some limitations exist: apps like Fandango at Home and Movies Anywhere donât support HDR, which is disappointing. There are also a few minor issues, such as occasional loss of sound control via HDMI CEC, lack of Dolby TrueHD support, and occasional input switching delays that cause the system to hang for a few seconds.Still, I believe most of these bugs will be addressed in future updates. Overall, the RockTek G2 is a good option, as long as youâre not comparing it directly to a more premium box like the Shield TV.

Do not recommend
Myself and as I have read, lots others have had the Ethernet adapter stop working. Iâve replaced with a USB Ethernet adapter. But even now it and wifi still cuts out often. I have also had never ending issues with Kodi which is all I use, very laggy, issues often and various incompatibilities. An Android TV 12 update was finally released, this seemed to improve some issues and add features such as adaptive refresh rate, but since then have mostly experienced more issues. Constantly needing to reinstall Kodi and reconnect libraries which take forever on the slow Ethernet connection.I much more recommend the Homatics Box R 4K + for a little bit more money. Thatâs what Iâll be switching too asap

No back lit remote
Remote should have a light on it for what it cost,it is very fast great storage I am satisfied with it , a back lit remote would have been nice would have received five stars.just hoping it lasts as long as a fire stick.
